This magnificent château lies on the southern coast of Brittany, surrounded by acres of ancient woodland. You'll find a farmhouse and a dovecote that speak to the rich history of this home, and a medieval entrance hall with its original stone walls and flooring. Whether you're gathering by one of the open fireplaces and keeping cosy, challenging friends to a game of table tennis or heading out to explore the expansive grounds and enjoy a game of croquet or alfresco dining, there's plenty to do during your stay.

There's only a ten-minute drive between you and the beaches of the Atlantic coast, and it's only a short drive into the historic town of Quimperlé where you'll find necessities and fantastic local food. Breton beaches are within easy reach, and you can head out to sea for some water sports or paddle boarding around Larmor-Plage. In the evening, draw yourself a hot, luxurious bath before drifting off to sleep in one of the plush beds.

Light as Dove Feathers

A short drive from the Bay of Biscay, this lodge has all the ingredients for a memorable holiday. Designed with the environment in mind, the home spans two floors with light pouring in through glass doors and plenty of windows. We're fans of the interiors, which give a sense of homely comfort as well as practical design. Outside, the garden – which you'll share with your host – is a real highlight, with the terrace offering plenty of space for morning coffee and alfresco dining. You'll have several options for day trips, with Quimper to the north and Concarneau to the south reachable in twenty minutes by car.

Lofty View

Spend an idyllic afternoon on the white sands of Carnac's Grande Plage – we love that this fabulous beach is just a hop and a skip away. If you tire of dipping your toes in the crystal clear waters of the Iroise Sea – unlikely, we know – this town offers a myriad of other attractions to enjoy. It has more megalithic sites than you can shake a stick at – around 3000 standing stones to be exact, giving it the world's greatest concentration. If that's not your thing, head to the Carnac Spa for all sorts of thalassotherapy treatments. Of course, there's also a wide choice of seafood restaurants and boutiques to choose from right on your doorstep. You don't have to go anywhere to enjoy the seascape though. Just take a seat on your south-facing balcony and enjoy the vista opening up to the sea. Inside, a blend of calming greys, beach tones, nautical themes and natural materials create an abode that feels both stylish and homely. At the end of the day, the tastefully decorated and comfy bedrooms will ensure you have a good night's sleep – which is a good job, with so much on offer in this slice of Brittany.

Flintstones

Easy views of the sea, chic furnishings and starry ceiling lights are all a testament to the magnificence of this home and we’re sure you’ll agree once you lay your eyes on it. A light breakfast with family under the chandelier or a hearty brunch with friends out on the balcony, mealtimes with the people you love are always a joy. In the evenings, relax by the fire and pop open a bottle of champagne just for the sake of it. The home is just fifty metres from the beach and a six-minute drive from the spectacular scenery at the Côte Sauvage, making it perfect for days out. Sofitel Quiberon Thalassa Sea & Spa is three minutes away by car so there’s no excuse for you not to indulge in cardio sessions at the gym, thalassotherapy treatments and invigorating body scrubs every other day.

Starlight Oasis

If you’ve been dreaming of a cosy countryside escape, this home offers a charming solution. Nestled in the grounds of a 15-century estate, there’s plenty of character here and all the home comforts you could need. There’s a fire for cosy evenings and a terrace for warm weather days. You’ll also have access to the shared grounds and there are beautiful hiking trails within easy reach. You will need a car to get around here, but it’s just a short drive to the nearest beach and amenities in the historic centre of Concarneau.

The Elodie

With a view over the Anse de Doëlan, lazy afternoons can be spent watching the movements in the marina from the overlooking terrace of this home. Can you picture it? Sitting out on the deck with a glass of wine as the boats make their voyages? Almost as if counting sheep, you might find the activity calming and meditative, which probably has a little to do with the surroundings of this home. Tranquil and ripe with opportunity to visit the beaches around Le Pouldu, the woodland of Carnoët – with hiking trails in the famous GR 34 – there is plenty that will instil a soothing connection to the great outdoors. Even back home, you can open the bi-fold doors separating the living room from the terrace, and sit down to a gaping view of this corner of Brittany.

Start your mornings in the kitchen, where you can top up on coffee before escaping onto the second terrace for a few contemplative moments. Sit out there until the rest of the group makes their way downstairs and grab hold of a cooking assistant. Work on a breakfast you can enjoy at the dining table before setting off for an explorative day.

With ample light filtering into the living room – from both the bi-fold doors and the skylights – bookworms will likely find this space their refuge. Sprawl out on the couch to enjoy the peace in quiet as you get lost in fictional worlds.

Explore Le Pouldu and Lorient – during the summer months, both have a busy cultural calendar and you can join in the festivities before making it back home in time for the sunset.

All Along the Marina

This beautiful 5-room house is a cosy and well-appointed property that's perfect for families or groups of friends. The house has direct access to the beach, which is just 10 metres away, and offers stunning views of the sea from the balcony and terrace. The property features four comfortable bedrooms, one with a French bed and three with two single beds each. There are two bathrooms and separate toilets on both floors. The living room has a flat-screen TV and plenty of seating for everyone to relax in. The dining room has an exit to the terrace where guests can enjoy al fresco meals. The kitchen is fully equipped with all modern appliances including an oven, dishwasher, and microwave. Guests also have access to high-speed internet throughout the property. Located near many popular attractions such as Quiberon peninsula, Alignements de Carnac, La Trinité sur Mer, Vannes, and Lorient, this is an ideal choice for those looking for a peaceful seaside getaway.

Cascading Flowers

Almost 800 years after it was first built, this former royal hunting lodge is still a place that instils awe. The flickering candles, lush fabrics and antique furnishings that fill these painstakingly restored whitewashed walls give the impression that you’ve stepped back in time, to a simpler and more beautiful era. Not that you have to sacrifice the mod cons, that is, with an en-suite for each room and a heated swimming pool right outside. And there are no shortage of quirks to investigate, whether you’re playing table football in the bedroom or exploring the grounds.
