A short drive from the Bay of Biscay, this lodge has all the ingredients for a memorable holiday. Designed with the environment in mind, the home spans two floors with light pouring in through glass doors and plenty of windows. We're fans of the interiors, which give a sense of homely comfort as well as practical design. Outside, the garden – which you'll share with your host – is a real highlight, with the terrace offering plenty of space for morning coffee and alfresco dining. You'll have several options for day trips, with Quimper to the north and Concarneau to the south reachable in twenty minutes by car.

Lofty View

Carnac is a fabulous hub of quaint churches, artisan cheesemongers, delicious seafood restaurants, and prehistoric monuments. This town’s eclectic mix of activities is sure to keep you on your toes, but it’s equally wonderful for simply sunbathing on the shore. And when you're living on a street called Boulevard de la Plage, you can imagine that there might be a beach in sight. A five-minute stroll from the beachfront of Grande Plage de Carnac, this modern studio is the perfect base for your seaside stay. Set in a mid-century block of flats, the understated exteriors don’t give away much about what you’ll find inside. Elegant and sophisticated, your living space features wooden floors, cabinets, and a wicker lampshade which bring a certain warmth to this cosy space. With your own little private balcony, alfresco dining is certainly on the cards. Break into a fresh baguette with a few slices of Saint-Paulin cheese (a Breton favourite) and olive oil as you plan the afternoon ahead. If you’ve eaten too much for watersports and swimming on the beach, take a seven-minute drive to the Carnac Stones – these granite megaliths date as far back as 4500 BC.

Saint-Paulin

Spend an idyllic afternoon on the white sands of Carnac's Grande Plage – we love that this fabulous beach is just a hop and a skip away. If you tire of dipping your toes in the crystal clear waters of the Iroise Sea – unlikely, we know – this town offers a myriad of other attractions to enjoy. It has more megalithic sites than you can shake a stick at – around 3000 standing stones to be exact, giving it the world's greatest concentration. If that's not your thing, head to the Carnac Spa for all sorts of thalassotherapy treatments. Of course, there's also a wide choice of seafood restaurants and boutiques to choose from right on your doorstep. You don't have to go anywhere to enjoy the seascape though. Just take a seat on your south-facing balcony and enjoy the vista opening up to the sea. Inside, a blend of calming greys, beach tones, nautical themes and natural materials create an abode that feels both stylish and homely. At the end of the day, the tastefully decorated and comfy bedrooms will ensure you have a good night's sleep – which is a good job, with so much on offer in this slice of Brittany.

Flintstones

Easy views of the sea, chic furnishings and starry ceiling lights are all a testament to the magnificence of this home and we’re sure you’ll agree once you lay your eyes on it. A light breakfast with family under the chandelier or a hearty brunch with friends out on the balcony, mealtimes with the people you love are always a joy. In the evenings, relax by the fire and pop open a bottle of champagne just for the sake of it. The home is just fifty metres from the beach and a six-minute drive from the spectacular scenery at the Côte Sauvage, making it perfect for days out. Sofitel Quiberon Thalassa Sea & Spa is three minutes away by car so there’s no excuse for you not to indulge in cardio sessions at the gym, thalassotherapy treatments and invigorating body scrubs every other day.

Starlight Oasis

Situated just 300 metres from the beach, this modern house puts you in prime location for soaking up the coastal Brittany sunshine. Just a short stroll from the soft sand of Plage de Lodonnec, and only 2 kilometres from the shops, cafes and restaurants of Loctudy's nautical town centre, you're perfectly set up for an endlessly relaxing stay. Inside, it's comfortable and stylish. With simple modern design, soft furniture and a contemporary pellet stove, there's a cool and calm atmosphere is throughout the home, so you'll find it easy to relax here.

Rustle up homemade meals in the fully-equipped kitchen to be enjoyed outside in the garden's dining area. It's well-kept space with curated plants, plenty of seating, and even a bowling garden so you can sip a chilled glass of Chardonnay while playing a couple of games.

When it's time to head out, you needn’t go far before stumbling upon a cultural hotspot. You’re within an easy drive of Le Guilvinec (the very first French fishing port), the Eckmuhl lighthouse, and De Concarneau à Pont-Aven.

The Lady of Loctudy

Hidden away in the Breton countryside a short distance away from Bénodet, this warm and welcoming holiday home makes an elegant retreat from the whirl of daily life. Inside, you'll love the large glass doors that, when thrown open, bring in the beautiful sea breeze. From the contemporarily furnished living room to the fully-equipped kitchen, the house comes with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Outside is a well-kept garden with an expansive lawn dotted with beautiful trees and a heated swimming pool to boot. When you're not splashing about, it's not hard to imagine spending countless hours on the surrounding deck, taking in all the sights from the comfort of a lounger while sipping on a cider — a drink for which the region is famous. If you ever manage to snatch yourselves away from this property, a cosy restaurant and a large golf course await nearby, as well as several sandy beaches just a short drive away.

Mise en Place

Located in the charming hamlet of Le Vieux Moulin, this recently renovated 5-room house is perfect for those seeking a peaceful getaway. The property offers comfortable furnishings and is equipped with a flat-screen TV, an open kitchen with modern appliances, and a terrace with garden views. The house includes four bedrooms: one on the ground floor with a French bed and en-suite bathroom, and three on the upper floor (two with French beds and one with two single beds). The property also features a private fenced garden, outdoor furniture, and a barbecue grill. With the beach just 450 metres away, guests can enjoy swimming or surfing at their leisure. Nearby attractions include Côte Sauvage de Quiberon, Saint Pierre Quiberon, Carnac et les alignements, Auray et le Port de St Goustan, Vannes, and Lorient.

The Wooden Cottage

Almost 800 years after it was first built, this former royal hunting lodge is still a place that instils awe. The flickering candles, lush fabrics and antique furnishings that fill these painstakingly restored whitewashed walls give the impression that you’ve stepped back in time, to a simpler and more beautiful era. Not that you have to sacrifice the mod cons, that is, with an en-suite for each room and a heated swimming pool right outside. And there are no shortage of quirks to investigate, whether you’re playing table football in the bedroom or exploring the grounds.

Gilded Stag

Set in a sleepy hamlet in north-west France, this 19th-century house has been fully remodelled with contemporary furniture and a range of mod cons. Driftwood panelling and parquet floors create a warm, cosy ambience, while the plush carpets and occasional intricate antique act as reminders of the property's glorious past. Gather together your travel companions and treat them to a delectable French meal you've whipped up in the fully-equipped kitchen — the local speciality is Poulet Breton, which is chicken in a sauce of crème fraîche, cider and mustard. It's not hard to picture lazy meals that stretch on for hours while you’re sipping wine, chit-chatting and making memories. When the weather is agreeable, the beach is only 500 metres down the road past villas and lush open fields. On this sandy stretch, you can experience days of pure ocean bliss, whether swimming in the shimmering waters, topping off your tan or building sandcastles. In the evening, fire up the barbecue out in the lush garden and enjoy a quiet evening with your loved ones under the stars.
