The interiors are typically French, with plenty of rustic charm and vaulted ceilings, but there's more to this home than a cosy atmosphere. This chateau in Normandy is bursting with old-world charm. Built by the original owner in the 19th century as a wedding present for his wife, it has been lovingly restored in recent years. While historic features like the elegant façade, grand rooms and antique French floor tiles have been preserved, the basement has been converted into a haven for fun and relaxation. The curved brick rooms are now home to a cinema room, a pool table, and a fitness suite. Meanwhile upstairs retains its 19th-century splendour through antique furniture, original fireplaces, and oak panelled walls. 

Set within an 18-hectare estate, there are beautiful spots to while away the days. Relax on the lawn with a book or sip calvados on the charming château terrace. On sunny days, whip up lunch on the barbecue while the children have fun in the play area. There are over 300 apple and pear trees in the fruit orchard, and beautiful walking trails through the estate’s woodland, with sprawling views of Normandy countryside, which you can explore on foot or on the bikes at the house. 

The area is surrounded by picturesque villages and scenery. The historic town of Gournay-en-Bray is a five-minute drive away, where you can pick up local produce at the twice-weekly market for a picnic. The Forêt de Lyons can be reached in twenty minutes by car, where you can practise a range of outdoor adventures, or simply walk through the winding woodland trails.

The house is set on 1.7 acres of land, meaning you’ll have plenty of privacy. You're surrounded by beauty here –wander through the pretty landscaped gardens and head down one of the winding paths to admire the bucolic scenery.  

The large heated 14x4m pool means you can enjoy year-round fun, and there’s an outdoor shower to rinse off in before curling up on a deck chair. The kids will have endless fun running around in the gardens, playing ping pong, and making use of the two bikes. On rainy days they can retreat to the games room, where there’s plenty of board games. 

You are well placed to explore all the delights of the Pays d’Auge region – the village of Honfleur is a fifteen-minute drive away, with its picture-perfect harbour and expansive sandy beach. For the daily shop, there’s a small village near the house which is reachable on foot. On Tuesday mornings drive seven minutes to the farmers’ market in Beuzeville, where you can pick up some local produce and enjoy an alfresco lunch back at home.

The home is packed with modern charm – we absolutely love the muted colours and dried grass vases that invoke a sense of peace and calm, along with the minimalistic furniture that gives the home a contemporary feel. Your private terrace provides a lovely place to sit and get some fresh air with your morning coffee, while the dining set makes a great place to gather for champagne cocktails in the evenings and meals prepared with fresh produce from the daily local market.
