This is a delightful little apartment in the shadow of the Sforzesco Castle. The sprawling greenery of Sempione Park is right on your doorstep and the Duomo, Royal Palace and Teatro alla Scala are all within a fifteen-minute walk. We love the apartment’s terrace, which is home to all sorts of pot plants and cacti, and a table and chairs for a cold glass of something (there's a dedicated wine fridge inside). The designer sofas and curated collection of coffee table books in the living room are everything you’d expect in Italy’s capital of style. But it’s the ceiling that draws the eye – a slant of white-washed wood beams adding a delightfully rustic touch, and lending itself to make-shift books shelves in every available nook and cranny. Despite the proximity to both the castle and the Brera district (home to cafés, restaurants and luxury fashion boutiques), this place is in a residential block, so you’re guaranteed a little peace and quiet. 

Chalet Milano

The terrace, along with the vast windows, helps counter some smaller issues with Bredbeddle. As a whole, it’s a lovely flat – the white walls and brilliant light give it a sense of space and calm. As you step onto the balcony, it’s as if you’re no longer in the city, so intense is the green that greets you on all sides. You are, however, very much in the middle of the city, and there are lots of good places to eat nearby, which is important given that the kitchen is the biggest letdown in the place. It’s very small, and you wouldn’t want to do more than heating up a pot there.


Bredbeddle

This compact yet cosy apartment offers a great base for an exciting city stay. Located in Porta Nuova, you can stroll to Parco Sempione as well as restaurants, bars and shops. There are also great public transport links and bicycle paths – making it easy to explore further afield. It’s worth noting the apartment is basic, but it’s well suited to couples and solo travellers in search of simplicity and ease. There’s also the handy addition of a sofa bed in the living room for one guest.



The Carina 

The criteria that separate a flat that feels like home from a flat that doesn’t are somewhat nebulous, even with all our research. Whatever the exact formula is, it’s present in Rushmore. It’s large, well furnished with quality pieces, and the things in it just seem to work seamlessly. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that it’s in a great location, near the very centre, but just set back enough to avoid the tourists in Piazza del Duomo. It’s also very easy to reach the University.


Rushmore

Overlooking the lively Vincenzo Monti, this apartment ticks a lot of boxes. For starters, the minimalist design features a touch of mid-century modern style – we're big fans of the floor-to-ceiling windows in particular. There are a few drawbacks, but nothing major – the kitchen is on the small side and there isn't a TV. But with shops, cafes, and restaurants nearby, you'll have all you need at your fingertips. Keen to sightsee? Sforzesco Castle is a ten-minute stroll away, while the Duomo is walkable in thirty.

Urban Palette

Around the corner from Porta Venezia station, and only a few blocks from Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli, Marionette is in a convenient location for getting around the city. It’s not going to set the world on fire in terms of design, but that’s not really the point. Instead, it’s comfortable, very well looked after by Alexey, and in general, it just has a welcoming atmosphere.


Marionette

Walking through central Milan is not something we’d recommend doing in a hurry. You’ll constantly be stopping to admire the ornate architecture, ancient monuments, and some of the most impressive cathedrals in the world. Seven minutes from this city apartment, the pink marble Duomo di Milano awaits. And en route, you’ll pass more awe-inspiring sights such as the Teatro alla Scala and Manzoni House, both just two minutes from home. Now, where were we meant to be going again?

When you return after a long day exploring your magnificent surroundings, you’ll be greeted by a grand lobby. Strut upstairs via a red carpet set over glossy marble floors, with a rose-gold chandelier hanging above. As if you didn’t already feel like a VIP, your host can arrange for a private chef, flower deliveries, city tours, and drivers – all you have to do is ask.

In your apartment, glossy floors continue, but this time in elegant hardwood. Modern interiors dominate the space, with a plush corner sofa and glass dining table setting the 21st-century tone. We love the quirky use of red as the highlight colour in this otherwise understated palette. Cherry-red breakfast stools, wall prints, and a coffee machine harmonise in the kitchen – just in time for an espresso martini.

Ossola Marble

This delightful apartment feels a million miles from the hustle and bustle but boasts a remarkable location in central Milan. It’s housed in a turn-of-the-century building overlooking two 18th-century villas and their gardens – there’s a balcony to enjoy the view. The apartment combines old-world charm with contemporary convenience, with modern amenities that’ll make your stay comfortable alongside charming details like ornate mouldings and tall windows. You’ll be just a ten-minute walk from Museo del Cenacolo Vinciano, which is home to Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece, The Last Supper. There’s a tram stop and two metro stations within easy reach, which makes seeing further afield a breeze. We think it's perfect for a couple seeking a home-from-home in Milan. 

Memories of Milan

There’s a real sense of serenity to this home in Milan’s Porta Venezia district with its beamed ceilings, rustic-meets-modern furniture and its oasis-like terrace. Boasting shuttered French doors in each room leading out onto this calm outdoor space, you can while away the hours here, enjoying alfresco breakfasts and sunset drinks aplenty. We love the tiled details in the home too – especially in the green bathroom and behind the kitchenette – as well as the ornate copper fireplace in the master bedroom. Whether you’re gathering around the rustic dining table for dinner, sipping a cool glass of wine on the terrace or kicking back on the sofas with a good book, this home welcomes socialising and relaxation in spades. Outside of your home, the Giardini Indro Montanelli is just a ten-minute walk away, while the Duomo di Milano is just under thirty minutes from your door. The Milano Centrale Railway Station is also just ten minutes away on foot for allowing for easy exploration further afield. 


Palm Fronds

This light and bright apartment is an ideal base for up to four people on a Milan city break. Sure, at full occupancy, two guests will draw the short straw and sleep on the sofa bed in the living room, but we think this home’s enviable location more than makes up for it. You’ll find Indro Montanelli Gardens just a short walk from the apartment, perfect for a morning stroll or jog, while many of Milan’s key attractions are within easy reach on foot or a short metro ride away. 

Milan Spirit

This welcoming apartment feels a million miles from the crowds of Milan, but it’s right in the heart of the city. You can walk to the Duomo in ten minutes and find plenty of restaurants and shops in the vicinity. A cosy retreat, it’s perfect for a couple, with an open-plan living and dining space where you can relax in between sightseeing. There’s a small but functional kitchen and even a petite workspace – it’s on the mezzanine level above the bed.
