The interiors are a little basic for our liking, but it's modern and there's a dedicated workspace. Plus, the freestanding tub is the perfect place to relax after busy days spent travelling.

The fifty-kilometre long stretch of shimmering beaches and technicolour villages looks straight out of a fairytale, with a balmy climate and delicious cuisine to solidify its appeal. In this colourful apartment, you'll be right in the thick of it. 

Located in a typical Italian building, the characterful home is of traditional style, with tiled flooring from the Vietri Ceramics School, while antique furniture and vintage artwork will transport you to the simpler times of this historical town. This Italian villa grabbed our attention for its front-row location on the Amalfi coast. You can enjoy spectacular sea views from the garden, balconies, and terraces, and you also have direct access to a private beach. Your host can provide breakfast to begin the day at a leisurely pace, and if you’re travelling with children, babysitter recommendations are available. There are lots of stairs to climb here, including a spiral staircase in the home, steep steps in the terraced garden, and steps to the private beach, so it won’t suit everyone. Location-wise, you’re in the pretty village of Conca dei Marini with many picturesque coastal towns, including popular Amalfi, within easy driving distance.

A stone's throw from the iconic Piazzetta di Capri at the top of the funicular, with far-reaching views over the shimmering Tyrrhenian Sea, this gorgeous apartment captures the imagination with its irresistible combination of emerald green marble floors and jaw-dropping location. 

Completely overhauled in 2021, your hosts have paid close attention to every detail to create an island escape that speaks to the soul. Hand-picked artwork, a well-equipped compact kitchen and two king-size en-suite bedrooms make this an ideal option for a family break, or a getaway with friends.

However, it's the outdoor terrace that steals the limelight. Shared between the apartment's two suites, there's more than enough space for everyone to spread out and claim a corner for themselves. With outdoor dining space, sun loungers and parasols, the scene is set for relaxing alfresco breakfasts, lazy days soaking up some sun, and romantic evening meals with the harbour lights twinkling away below.

Capri Town is only accessible on foot, with plenty of upmarket boutiques and mouthwatering restaurants within a short stroll. For an entirely different perspective on island life, we'd recommend taking to the water for a gentle cruise along its coast, passing secluded coves and the yawning mouths of sea caves.

Now, this is what we call a view. Perched above the Gulf of Salerno, this villa offers breathtaking scenery everywhere you look. Our favourite spot is the terrace, where a glass of wine complements the panoramas perfectly. There's also a private Jacuzzi that makes soaking under the stars a real treat. The interior design is simple but chic, though the main bedroom doesn't feel particularly private. And, while the kitchen is on the smaller side, you'll only be a five-minute walk from the eateries in Amalfi. That's pretty hard to beat.

With an absolutely breathtaking view of the Tyrrhenian Sea, this ancient villa couldn’t really be more of a complete package if it tried. Not only does waking up to the panoramic horizon inspire a great sense of relaxation, but the villa itself is pretty with its curving arches and many textures. 

Given its age, the home has seen its share of modernisation, but it has always been done in the most loving and sympathetic way to retain the original charm, and that character is certainly still visible. Picture yourself tucked away on the sofa with a good book, or at the dining table – with the doors flung open – as you catch up on the news with your morning cuppa. 

The only thing better than unwinding inside the home would be doing so outside. With plenty of space to sit, or sprawl out on the sunloungers, if you’d like, you can make yourself comfortable as you admire the glittering blue on the horizon. Take a dip in the plunge pool, dine alfresco, and watch the sunset with an evening cocktail. 

As two bedrooms can only be accessed via the garden, it sets large groups up perfectly so you can retain a sense of privacy but come together in the beautiful, and ample, breakout spaces. 

Walk to Marina di Praia beach, explore the beautiful Praiano, and dine out at any of the nearby restaurants when you’re not in the mood to cook.

The beautiful coastline provides a breathtaking backdrop, and can be admired from the terrace while you sunbathe on the loungers. There’s a Jacuzzi to relax in – it’s perfect when the sun is setting. The villa is comfortable and attractive, with beautiful teal tiles and exposed stone walls. This delightful home is an exquisite base for discovering the beauty of the Amalfi Coast.

Peering over the Amalfi Coast, this postcard-worthy villa is the perfect Positano escape. With three terraces to choose from, you’ll start your day deliberating where to take breakfast – will it be at the bistro set under the magenta sprays of bougainvillaea or perhaps you’ll dine in the shade by the abundant lemon tree? Afternoons are for doing very little – lazing on a lounger with an ice-cold drink in hand, watching the boats bob on the sparkling Tyrrhenian Sea.

Yellow patterned tiles are a counterpoint to the pristine white walls and we loved the homely feel of the antique cherry wood furniture. The bedrooms are comfortable and cheery and the brightly coloured bathrooms are sure to put a pep in your step in the mornings. 

When you’re ready to explore, Positano Beach is just a short walk from your doorstep and you’re within touching distance of restaurants, bars and independent shops. After a slap-up seafood dinner by the water, return to your abode to watch the sky swirl in pinks and purples as you sip an Aperol spritz.

Enjoy a jolly stay in this colourful home, located in the very heart of Sorrento and close to the metro and bus station for easy adventuring. This home is ideal for a couple or solo traveller and boasts fun interiors with bright murals, funky furniture and arty decor that make it feel special and unique. We absolutely love the tiled splashback in the kitchen, and the vibrant feature wall in the bedroom – both give the home so much character.

Found in the west of Praiano where it lies about twenty minutes away from the bright orange umbrellas of One Fire Beach, this villa has a magnificent view out over the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Climb the steps up towards the villa and find a modern and comfortable home that boasts plenty of natural light, a crisp colour palette, and a beautiful collection of carefully selected tiles for a bit of a colour pop. There’s also a boho feel thanks to the warm, woody furniture and ample windows that keep that connection to the outdoors firmly in place. 

Go from your bedroom into the garden in moments as you escape through the doors – if you’re on the first floor, you’ll have an entire balcony to yourself and we recommend waking up before dawn, at least once, so you can watch the sunset from up there. Spend as much time as possible outdoors, swimming in the private pool, sunbathing in the sunloungers and enjoying snacks and drinks as you admire the view. 

When you’re not taking sunny days easy at home, you can spend them at any one of the beaches you’ll come across as you explore the coast, or find a tucked-away restaurant in Praiano.

Inside the house, you’ll be amazed by the palatial interiors, with original tiled floors, stunning painted murals, grand decor and ornate furniture, all giving the home an elegant and regal feel. We don’t believe in waking up early on holiday - give us a lie in and breakfast in bed any day. But we might just make an exception at The Ocean Fern. The sight of the sun rising over the glittering blue seas of the Italian coastline is something everyone should experience at least once, and it’s even better if you’re close enough to hear the gentle lapping of the waves on the pebble beach below you. This home couldn’t be closer to the sea, with an infinity pool directly overlooking the beach and staggering views from every window (not to mention the spacious terrace). Inside, pretty blue tiles, embroidered fabrics, and trailing plants create an open and welcoming space that’s perfect for both early birds and night owls. 

The Ocean Fern

The property is a beautiful blend of the old and the new, with a stunning setting inside Cilento National Park and close to an ancient village. Also close to the foot of Monte Gelbison, the villa and its extensive outside space offer breathtaking views of the lush and dramatic surrounding scenery. There's also a separate pool house that provides flexible additional accommodation that makes The property ideal for larger groups.

The villa is composed of a beautifully-restored main property and two independent suites on the upper floors, boasting an array of original features. Many of these date back to at least 1870. The sense of history can be felt throughout the cosy rooms that boast an abundance of natural materials, such as stone walls and wood ceilings and floors.

On the ground floor is a charming living space with comfortable sofas, flat screen television and doors leading to the outside space. A wonderful library is full of English and Italian books and gives you the perfect excuse to while away a quiet few hours. The elegant dining room is adjacent to a well-equipped kitchen, making meal times easy and convenient.

Both of the two independent suites have their own living spaces, bedrooms and bathrooms, making them totally self-contained. One of the suites also has its own kitchenette, and the other enjoys terrace access.

The separate pool house is bright and modern, with a living room that features floor-to-ceiling glass patio doors that flood the space with light. They also give you direct access to the garden, outdoor dining area and swimming pool. There's also a small kitchen and two double bedrooms, each with a private bathroom.

All guests at The property can unwind within the beautiful and extensive outside space. Sit on the porch directly outside the main villa with a drink and take in views over the lovely garden. Further into the olive tree-dotted lawned garden is a patio area with outdoor dining for up to 10 people. An idyllic waterfall that flows into a small pond sits by a set of stone steps that take you down to the large, private swimming pool.

Scenic walks and hikes are on your doorstep at The property, as it's located within Cilento National Park and close to majestic Monte Gelbison. The park is also full of ancient sites to visit, such as the Greek temple of Paestum and the Greco-Roman remains of Velia. The picturesque medieval town of Novi Velia is around a 10-minute drive from the villa.

As well as mountain ranges and valleys being features of the immediate landscape, the coast is within easy reach too. Sandy beaches such as those at Marina di Ascea are less than 30 minutes away by car.

For history lovers, we recommend visiting the 12th-century Church of San Luca Evangelista, which houses paintings by Giovanni Bernardo Lama.

From the moment you arrive, you'll be taken by the brick fireplace and arched ceilings inside this ancient farmhouse. Roll out of bed each morning feeling refreshed and step out onto your balcony, where you'll be met with spectacular sea views. Share a breakfast of ricotta pancakes with your loved ones and plan an outing around this dining table, then head out on the Amalfi Coast. When you return, open up a bottle of Italian wine and unwind in your private hot tub. Perhaps you'll want to keep things easy with a barbecue picnic on the lawn while the sun sets.

My Heart Has Wings

Positioned in the centre of Positano, this apartment boasts sweeping sea views. The balcony is the perfect spot to admire the panoramas – including a glimpse of the Galli Islands – while all three bedrooms also offer access to the terrace so you can wake up to the waves. It's located in a late 18th-century palace chockfull of character, including ivory stone floors and traditional majolica tiles. There's even a hammam-style whirlpool bath – it's the perfect spot to soak your feet after sightseeing around the town.

There's realistically only one thing we can start with when talking about this home and that's the gorgeous view of the Gulf of Naples that lies out of the main living area's huge window. Thankfully, these French doors open wide and the balcony lets you take in the coastal panorama with the sunlight on your skin. If you're still in need of another vantage point, guests also get access to a communal roof terrace with some seating on which to clink glasses while the sun sets in the background.

Right, enough about the scenery, because the apartment itself deserves some praise. There's an elegant simplicity to the design, with the whitewashed walls working well with the ample amounts of natural light, plus a minimalist kitchen ready and waiting for Italian feasts. We also like the ceramics collection arranged in alcoves in the hallways, which pay homage to the region's culture and heritage in chic fashion.

As you can tell by looking out the window, you don't have to venture far to find the beach – as a matter of fact, Spiaggia di San Montano is only 200 metres away. There are a few bars and restaurants in the local area, but for a wider choice along with some magnificent historic architecture, Sorrento is just a short drive away up the coastline.

Glittering Gulf

A five-minute stroll from the Piazza Tasso – a bustling intersection filled with charming bars and Italian restaurants, this deluxe apartment sits in the coastal resort town of Sorrento. If you don't feel like lazing 650 metres away on Peter's Beach, history enthusiasts may wish to visit the 14th-century Chiesa di San Francesco instead. Or, the Circumvesuviana train station lies just five minutes from your front door, so you can go further afield and journey into Naples.

From the moment you step inside this modern home, you'll want to kick your feet up in this yellow-accented living space. We adore how the open-plan layout is designed for spending quality time with your loved ones. Over your morning coffee, nibble on frittatas while making plans at this dining table. Ideal for remote working, get your head down at the bedroom desk before slipping out onto this sun-kissed balcony. Be sure to raise a glass of local wine to a happy holiday after a busy day of sightseeing.

Right by the coast, this cosy apartment is perfect for a couple's retreat. The bathtub in the living area takes some getting used to, but you can't deny that its panoramas are fantastic, especially the glimpse of Capri. In fact, the vistas from every room are stunning, though we think the small balcony takes the cake for the best viewpoint. After all, nothing beats a glass of wine, some fresh air, and a seaside sunset. Ready to explore? Make the short drive to Sorrento or venture 200 metres to the nearby rocky beach.

Nestled within a lemon orchard, this stunning villa is practically hanging off the side of the Amalfi Coast. On the villa’s stepped terraces, the citrus scent of fresh lemons combines with sea salt as you enjoy uninterrupted views over the azure Tyrrhenian Sea. Walkways shaded by twisting grapevines, magenta bougainvillaea and wisteria bursting in purple clouds give way to panoramic views. You’ll find endless secluded spots for dining outdoors, or lounging in the sun. Inside, we were really taken by the hand-painted tiles in every room, bursting with blues, yellows and greens, and the hand-painted details like the decal in the shower, that feel distinctly Amalfi. Rather than facing the TV, the living room’s sofa points directly at the French windows and that incredible sea view and both main bedrooms have their own French windows for a view all to yourself. From the villa, it’s a short walk to the beach at the bottom of Maiori. Here, you can join the coastal walking path that links all the quintessentially Amalfi Coast villages. Or, head out in the car to the town of Amalfi, a fifteen-minute drive away.

This boutique apartment boasts stunning panoramic views of the Sorrento coastline and the Mediterranean Sea. It’s a charming, chic base for a coastal escape, with pretty interiors – we especially love the colourful tiled floors. The open-plan living, dining and kitchen space is the heart of the home, though you’ll likely spend most of your time on the terrace – it’s a marvellous spot for soaking up the sun and admiring the views. Two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in bedroom three, so they’ll still have their privacy.

There are a variety of terraces for relaxing and alfresco dining, while inside this place, dating from the 15th century, there’s a traditional feel with beams and handmade tiles. There's an open fire in the living room for cooler evenings and all of the bedrooms are en-suite (two also have a private terrace). Situated in the oldest part of Amalfi, it’s just a short walk down the steps to the centre of the town or you can take one of two public lifts.
