Nestled within a lemon orchard, this stunning villa is practically hanging off the side of the Amalfi Coast. On the villa’s stepped terraces, the citrus scent of fresh lemons combines with sea salt as you enjoy uninterrupted views over the azure Tyrrhenian Sea. Walkways shaded by twisting grapevines, magenta bougainvillaea and wisteria bursting in purple clouds give way to panoramic views. You’ll find endless secluded spots for dining outdoors, or lounging in the sun. Inside, we were really taken by the hand-painted tiles in every room, bursting with blues, yellows and greens, and the hand-painted details like the decal in the shower, that feel distinctly Amalfi. Rather than facing the TV, the living room’s sofa points directly at the French windows and that incredible sea view and both main bedrooms have their own French windows for a view all to yourself. From the villa, it’s a short walk to the beach at the bottom of Maiori. Here, you can join the coastal walking path that links all the quintessentially Amalfi Coast villages. Or, head out in the car to the town of Amalfi, a fifteen-minute drive away.

Now, this is what we call a view. Perched above the Gulf of Salerno, this villa offers breathtaking scenery everywhere you look. Our favourite spot is the terrace, where a glass of wine complements the panoramas perfectly. There's also a private Jacuzzi that makes soaking under the stars a real treat. The interior design is simple but chic, though the main bedroom doesn't feel particularly private. And, while the kitchen is on the smaller side, you'll only be a five-minute walk from the eateries in Amalfi. That's pretty hard to beat.

You’ll start to fall in love with this ivy-clad beauty as soon as you approach. It’s situated on the coastal road that connects Ravello and Amalfi, benefitting from the beautiful beaches of Amalfi and the artistic vibe of Ravello. It takes nine minutes to drive into Ravello, where you’ll find the lush terraced gardens the town is known for. The drive to Amalfi takes eleven minutes, so you can be sipping a chilled glass of wine while taking in the coastal view in no time. 

The main focal point of the villa is the huge terrace. Two of the three bedrooms lead directly onto it, so you might wake up to sunshine on your pillow. The terrace looks out over the rugged landscape, in a fantastical setting. Lying out on the sun loungers, you’ll feel a million miles away from your normal life. 

After breakfast on the terrace and a morning spent soaking up the sun, why not drive eight minutes to the beach at Atrani? Splash in the cool, clear sea before grabbing lunch at a nearby trattoria.

This Italian villa grabbed our attention for its front-row location on the Amalfi coast. You can enjoy spectacular sea views from the garden, balconies, and terraces, and you also have direct access to a private beach. Your host can provide breakfast to begin the day at a leisurely pace, and if you’re travelling with children, babysitter recommendations are available. There are lots of stairs to climb here, including a spiral staircase in the home, steep steps in the terraced garden, and steps to the private beach, so it won’t suit everyone. Location-wise, you’re in the pretty village of Conca dei Marini with many picturesque coastal towns, including popular Amalfi, within easy driving distance.

A five-minute stroll from the sands of Acqua Chiara, this villa centres around outdoor living with its uninterrupted sea views and multi-level terraces. While there are about ninety steps from the parking area to this home, and a couple of the bedrooms are dark, it's a small price to pay for the plunge pool, hot tub, and leafy seating spots. The views over the Amalfi Coast from this home’s infinity pool and whirlpool are incredible. There are a variety of terraces for relaxing and alfresco dining, while inside this place, dating from the 15th century, there’s a traditional feel with beams and handmade tiles. There's an open fire in the living room for cooler evenings and all of the bedrooms are en-suite (two also have a private terrace). Situated in the oldest part of Amalfi, it’s just a short walk down the steps to the centre of the town or you can take one of two public lifts.

While the living space inside isn’t huge, you’ll no doubt spend most of your time outside, taking advantage of those blue vistas. And when the sun goes down, the view is just as impressive, with the lights of the coastal towns reflecting in the water. Because of its cliffside setting, you need to climb eighty-seven steps to access the home and a hundred and sixty steps to reach the beach, so it won’t be the best option for anyone with limited mobility. Location-wise, you’re less than a kilometre from Maiori, which boasts the biggest stretch of sand on the Amalfi Coast.

But the real star is the private garden and patio, perfect for perching with a glass of wine and soaking up the sunshine.

Perched 350 metres above sea level, the home’s picture windows and terraced gardens offer panoramic views over the Tyrrhenian Sea, creating the most scenic backdrop imaginable. Choose one of the outdoor tables at which to enjoy a sunny breakfast before catching some rays on the perfectly positioned sun loungers. Then slip on your walking shoes to descend the 1,000-step path down to the sea where the idyllic Fiordo di Furore and its magical beach await. 
 
In the evenings, fire up the barbecue for an alfresco feast under the pergola and watch the sunset over the horizon while you sip a glass of crisp white wine. The main bedroom’s private balcony provides the ideal spot for a final nightcap before retreating to the comfortable beds for a blissful night’s sleep.
 
When it comes to other sightseeing gems nearby, you’re just a ten-minute walk from Furore’s centre, while Amalfi is a twenty-minute drive away. Positano is just over forty a forty-minute drive too, and Naples – with its intoxicating blend of Old World charm and modern grit – is an hour and fifteen minutes away by car.

With an absolutely breathtaking view of the Tyrrhenian Sea, this ancient villa couldn’t really be more of a complete package if it tried. Not only does waking up to the panoramic horizon inspire a great sense of relaxation, but the villa itself is pretty with its curving arches and many textures. 

Given its age, the home has seen its share of modernisation, but it has always been done in the most loving and sympathetic way to retain the original charm, and that character is certainly still visible. Picture yourself tucked away on the sofa with a good book, or at the dining table – with the doors flung open – as you catch up on the news with your morning cuppa. 

The only thing better than unwinding inside the home would be doing so outside. With plenty of space to sit, or sprawl out on the sunloungers, if you’d like, you can make yourself comfortable as you admire the glittering blue on the horizon. For history lovers, we recommend visiting the 12th-century Church of San Luca Evangelista, which houses paintings by Giovanni Bernardo Lama.

From the moment you arrive, you'll be taken by the brick fireplace and arched ceilings inside this ancient farmhouse. Roll out of bed each morning feeling refreshed and step out onto your balcony, where you'll be met with spectacular sea views. Share a breakfast of ricotta pancakes with your loved ones and plan an outing around this dining table, then head out on the Amalfi Coast. When you return, open up a bottle of Italian wine and unwind in your private hot tub. Perhaps you'll want to keep things easy with a barbecue picnic on the lawn while the sun sets.

Recently renovated to an exceptionally high standard without compromising any of its original charm, this home enjoys a privileged location in the hills overlooking Praiano – just above the famous San Genarro Church and offering panoramic vistas that take in both Positano and the island of Capri bobbing in the distance. 

The home itself is understated in the best possible way. Devoid of any over-the-top or flashy fixtures and fittings, it exudes an easy charm that's perfectly in keeping with its surroundings and the archetypal aesthetics of this part of Italy. Think terracotta tiles, majolica bathrooms, exposed stone and wood beam detailing, and expert placement of fine antiques alongside simpler modern pieces that fulfil a function, and ornate wrought iron balustrades. 

The first of the two apartments, sleeping up to four people in the double bed and on the sofabed in the living area, a fully-equipped kitchen with a spellbinding sea view, and two bathrooms (one en-suite and one separate). The second of the two, accessible only via external stairs, comprises a slightly larger kitchen – again with sea view – a living room, two double bedrooms and bathrooms.

The thing that really sets this home apart though, is that mesmerising view. Open your eyes each morning and be greeted by a sight that is sure to stay with you forever as the soft sounds of waves hitting the rocks below provide an atmospheric soundtrack.

After a leisurely morning, head off to explore the town. A less beaten path than its neighbouring town of Positano, this is the place to be if you're looking for authentic Italian appeal. If you're seeking out some of the Amalfi Coast's best nature spots, make sure you add a hike on the 'Path of the Gods' to your itinerary, considered by many to be the best hiking trail in the area thanks to sweeping mountain views of the Mediterranean.

After a day of exploring, head home to relax in the outdoor hot tub, before indulging in a laid-back dinner cooked on the barbecue.

Why just take a day trip to a UNESCO World Heritage Site when you can stay in one? Set between the towns of Amalfi and Ravello on the protected Amalfi coastline, Villa Dirupo is hard to beat when it comes to views: wake up to vistas across the Mediterranean, or enjoy the idyllic surroundings while sunbathing or sipping an aperitif on one of the five levels of terraces. As for the interiors, they take inspiration from renowned Italian architect and designer Gio Ponti, mirroring the colours of the sea. After a day exploring Sorrento on digging into history at Herculaneum, take an invigorating dip in your private pool or head to your very own spa area for a session in the sauna.

In the sun-soaked village of Positano, this studio apartment is a peaceful idyll within walking distance of the lively shores of Positano Beach. Inside, it’s all crisp white and cobalt blue. Unwind on the loveseat with a cappuccino, basking in a salty breeze that drifts through the Juliet balcony doors. Put together a Caprese salad at the kitchenette then tuck in at the dining table. When you’re ready to explore, slather on your sunscreen and take a gentle stroll through the pastel-hued streets. 

Pick up trinkets in artisanal shops or laze in a seaside cafe. If your itinerary allows for it, take a trip over to charming Montepertuso and embark on one of many hiking routes. Return home in the early evening to watch dusk fall over the shambling rooftops with a tot of limoncello in hand. And when it’s time to get some sleep, the comfortable double bed tempts an early night.

Climb the steps up towards the villa and find a modern and comfortable home that boasts plenty of natural light, a crisp colour palette, and a beautiful collection of carefully selected tiles for a bit of a colour pop. There’s also a boho feel thanks to the warm, woody furniture and ample windows that keep that connection to the outdoors firmly in place. 

Go from your bedroom into the garden in moments as you escape through the doors – if you’re on the first floor, you’ll have an entire balcony to yourself and we recommend waking up before dawn, at least once, so you can watch the sunset from up there. Spend as much time as possible outdoors, swimming in the private pool, sunbathing in the sunloungers and enjoying snacks and drinks as you admire the view. 

When you’re not taking sunny days easy at home, you can spend them at any one of the beaches you’ll come across as you explore the coast, or find a tucked-away restaurant in Praiano.

The sea-facing terrace is the highlight of this home, with space for sunbathing or leisurely lunches. Inside, there’s a spacious living area, plus a kitchen with the essentials you need for eating in.
