When you think of Positano, you imagine the incredible views. You may have seen the Instagram posts about everyone trying to find the perfect view for sunset. Well, they're wasting their time – the best view in the city comes from the gorgeous terrace of your villa. But unlike the other popular spots, this view is reserved solely for you. 

Whether you're enjoying your morning coffee on the dining table or lounging on the sun beds, you're perfectly placed to admire the colourful houses and blue stretch of the sea. Of course, the best views are when the orange hues of sunset blend into the deep blue shades of the water. 

If you wander inside the villa, you'll find whitewashed tones and a neutral colour palette. Splashes of bright art is dotted around the villa, lacing the interior with a cheery, upbeat vibe.

When you fancy stretching your legs, you're only three minutes away from the beach. Small and cosy, it's an idyllic spot to lay your towel and catch some gentle rays of the sun.

Peering over the Amalfi Coast, this postcard-worthy villa is the perfect Positano escape. When you’re ready to explore, Positano Beach is just a short walk from your doorstep and you’re within touching distance of restaurants, bars and independent shops. After a slap-up seafood dinner by the water, return to your abode to watch the sky swirl in pinks and purples as you sip an Aperol spritz.

Positioned in the centre of Positano, this apartment boasts sweeping sea views. Positano is one of the most beautiful towns to be found along the Amalfi Coast and if you don't believe us, stepping out onto the balcony of this hillside home and gazing out at the gorgeous view of the locale below and the Tyrrhenian Sea stretching on into the distance will change your mind.

As well as this impressive outdoor space, you might just find that you're charmed by the living quarters as well. There's something about the whitewashed walls and patterned tiling that's instantly bright and welcoming, as is the addition of a few pieces of nautically-inspired artwork and quirky decorative items. The kitchen might not be the largest, but there's enough space for whipping up modest meals and the coastal view out through the window will please those on cooking duties.

When it comes to making some holiday memories, both Grande and Fornillo beaches are 650 metres from the home, and there's a good selection of restaurants even closer. In the wider area, you'll find mountains to hike along with some truly breathtaking views to act as a reward.

The open-plan main living area is equally as sociable and provides the perfect set-up for cooking up an Italian feast in the kitchen.

You can walk into the town in twenty-five minutes or hop on a water taxi from the beach below. This traditional apartment doesn’t have much of a socialising space, with the main communal area being the relatively compact kitchen. Still, both bedrooms are spacious, light-filled, and offer direct access to the balcony. And what it lacks in size and shared space inside, it makes up for with sea views across the Amalfi Coast when you step outdoors. You’ll need to be relatively fit to climb around fifty stairs to reach the apartment from the narrow alleyway below, but the vistas are worth it.

There's something rather magical about the view from this apartment nestled within a private park in Positano – ruggedly beautiful cliffsides peppered with dwellings part to reveal a burst of gloriously blue Tyrrhenian Sea and the uninterrupted skyline beyond. It makes for a charming backdrop while you soak up the sunshine or enjoy alfresco meals on the terrace.

Although the apartment itself lies on the smaller side of things, we're quite fond of the bright and contemporary design, particularly the sleek white galley kitchen and the fetching patterned tiling underfoot in the bedrooms. It's a home that's been owned by the same family for more than three decades, but you can certainly tell that it's received plenty of attention in recent years.

The local town of Positano itself isn't large, so most of the attractions are easily reachable on foot, including the golden sands of Spiaggia Grande Positano only 400 metres from the front door. In the wider area, those fond of a hike will appreciate the hilly terrain and walking routes found throughout the Amalfi Coast.

You'll find this panoramic pad a ten-minute walk from the centre of Positano. One of the must-sees on the Amalfi Coast, this hilltop town is known for its trendy eateries, pretty beaches, and jaw-dropping views. Thanks to the sea-facing terrace, you'll be able to enjoy the latter without leaving home. With the sea as a backdrop, it's the perfect spot for a morning espresso or a Limoncello Spritz. Inside isn't quite as impressive – the design is pretty traditional, and two guests will be on a sofa bed. Still, given the scenery and location, we think it does the job nicely.

The views over the Amalfi Coast from this home’s terrace are amazing – they are particularly stunning at night when the town lights up. You’ll find this home situated on the slopes of Positano town, offering unobstructed views across the Tyrrhenian Sea. It’s a short walk from the beach and 1.5 kilometres from the centre of town, so you won’t need a car for getting around. As there are 250 steps to climb to reach the front door, we wouldn’t recommend this home to those with limited mobility. Inside, the open-plan living space and main bedroom offer access to the private terrace, complete with a table and chairs for alfresco dining.

The Sea Pose

Spread across three levels, this Positano villa has everything from a heated indoor pool and sauna to a lift and housekeeping. Ticking the box on luxury features and convenience, it is ideal for family jaunts to Italy – though the more traditional decor might not be for everyone. An indoor hot tub lives on the lower level, but we recommend the outdoor one with the views from the balcony. Positano is a cliffside village, so it's worth noting the 600 steps from your door into town. There's also 50 steps between the parking area and the villa. But very little will beat the perfectly-positioned outdoor seating and vistas on the horizon.

For a couple on a romantic getaway, this charming apartment offers a dream love nest, with sweeping views over the magnificent scenery of the Amalfi Coast. Overlooking the Mediterranean from where it's perched on the edge of Positano, this historic building is a unique way to experience the Amalfi Coast. Split into three sections, every nook, including the tower, has been utilised to offer spacious living areas and private bedrooms alongside a study and private gym. The interior is what you'd expect from an older home, and though it might not be to everyone's taste, we think it's outshined by the many arched walkways and terraces with their inspiring views. From here, steps lead down to the beach – little ones will need a helping hand getting down – and the heart of Positano lies about one kilometre away.

With an absolutely breathtaking view of the Tyrrhenian Sea, this ancient villa couldn’t really be more of a complete package if it tried. Not only does waking up to the panoramic horizon inspire a great sense of relaxation, but the villa itself is pretty with its curving arches and many textures. 

Given its age, the home has seen its share of modernisation, but it has always been done in the most loving and sympathetic way to retain the original charm, and that character is certainly still visible.
