This home is a true haven nestled right in the heart of Arezzo. With its luscious garden and rustic interior, it's the perfect place to kick back and relax away from the hustle and bustle. 

Step inside, and you'll be enchanted by the traditional touches, from the terracotta tiles to the original fireplace and wooden ceiling beams. Budding chefs can whip up their favourite dishes in the kitchen, using the fresh Italian herbs provided. And, the leafy garden provides the ideal spot for a sundowner – open a bottle of Pinot Grigio and relax on the patio as you make some plans for the following day. 

The hilltop Arezzo Cathedral is not to be missed – admire the painted ceilings before strolling through the medieval town, gelato in hand. The nearby Piazza Grande is one of the most beautiful in the region, and is an awe-inspiring setting for a coffee or something stronger. And, if you want to explore more of eastern Tuscany then there's plenty to see just a short drive away – from vineyards to castles, there's something for everyone. 

Pistachio Pesto

When staying in Tuscany, who doesn’t want a 16th-century villa, with life-size frescoes and acres of grounds to explore? This place sits between the medieval borgo of Monte San Savino (a ten-minute drive) and the alluring city of Arezzo (a fifteen-minute drive). 

This villa’s swimming pool really grabbed us – a long, turquoise triangle, covered at one end to keep you shaded during the heat of the day. Loungers sit beneath parasols and the huge, outdoor dining table is shaded by an L-shaped pergola, dappled with jasmine. There are sprawling lawns for the kids to run free, and a tennis court and ping pong table too.

Inside, each apartment has its own living area, from the grand lounge set around an ancient stone fireplace to the book-lined family snug and TV room. The kitchen is sleek and modern in slate grey and white but sits beneath the old wooden ceiling of this 16th-century villa for a touch of the past.  

Between The Olive Groves

Attractive and welcoming, this home was once a farmhouse. It’s been lovingly renovated, retaining the charm of the past while adding home comforts. Ideal for families, this home boasts a volleyball court, football pitch and ping pong table, along with a swimming pool. There’s a wood-fired oven outside, and a lovely outdoor dining set up. We recommend hiring a car so you can drive to nearby Ravenna and Forli, and admire the countryside on the way. 


The Renaissance Grand Tour

Located near Morciano di Romagna, in the province of Rimini, this villa is ideal for nature lovers who want to enjoy some peace and quiet. There’s no better place to soak up the countryside panoramas than from the edge of the swimming pool or from the dining terrace with a spread of local delicacies. A big plus is the fenced grounds, making the place suitable for pets and small children. Fancy a change of scenery? It’s a short drive to Altamarea Beach and the town of Cattolica. 

The Art of Dreams

This charming holiday apartment lies in the heart of Cortona, ideal for a romantic getaway. The terrace boasts lovely views of the surrounding landscape, though the outdoor space is overlooked by nearby buildings, so it doesn't feel the most private. Your host can provide a free high chair here and little ones will love the garden, though the interior decor is quite traditional and won't be for everyone. You'll find public parking a short walk away, but Cortona's mouth-watering restaurants and picturesque churches are reached easily on foot, so you won't need a car.

Garden Oasis Retreat

Looking for a one-of-a-kind stay in the Umbrian hills? This restored 15th-century watchtower fringing the town of Pierantonio should fit the bill. Offering sweeping valley views from a lengthy infinity pool, vast gardens and shady terraces, it’s hard to believe all this space is just for you. Ideal for two couples or a multi-generational family stay, the property includes a main villa plus a self-contained annexe. With a home this characterful come a few quirks. The tower bedrooms are semi-open to one another, and the steep staircases won’t suit everyone. You’ll also need a car as there’s nothing within walking distance. But for us, that's all part of the appeal.

Watchtower Stories

The views at this Umbrian home are truly spectacular. The villa stands in vast private grounds just a ten-minute drive from the hilltop town of Montone, looking out over the hills and valleys of the Umbrian countryside. It’s a secluded retreat, but still within easy access to all that Umbria has to offer. The villa is rustic, with a simple and comfortable decor – expect cotto floors, beamed ceilings and exposed original stonework, plus a few antiques. The gardens have been designed to make the most of the wraparound views, so you’ll find many a terrace and quiet corner to enjoy. We love the fig tree by the pool – time your visit right and you can pick sun-warmed fruit straight from the tree for breakfast. 

Drink in the Serenity

You’ll find this arresting home in the hills above Arezzo, boasting views of the Tuscan valley beneath it, as well as beautiful gardens. Set over several buildings, this large home includes a main farmhouse, two apartments, and an annexe. It’s ideal for large families or groups who want to spend a holiday together but still like a little privacy. The home has been designed to showcase the historic virtues of these ancient buildings – we were first taken by the classic stone walls and their attractive sage green shutters. Inside is a symphony of elegance. Neutral tones and natural textiles offset the original stone walls perfectly, while distressed wooden beams give the home a much softer, cosier atmosphere than you might first expect from its size. The main kitchen looks as though it was designed with professional chefs in mind, while in the two separate apartments, you’ll find smaller kitchens that pay homage to their humble farmhouse beginnings while still looking effortlessly chic – think Aga-style ovens, glass fronted cabinets, and vintage dining tables. The bedrooms ooze relaxation, with modern furniture, gauzy textiles, and clever lighting making for a boutique hotel experience. And that’s before we even get to this home’s outdoor areas. Covering several hectares, the gardens back onto a wood where guests can roam and play, while back in the garden you’ll not only find a children’s playground, ping pong table, and hot tub, but a Roman-style pool surrounded by sun loungers, a glorious view of the countryside below, and even a diving board. 


Forza Arezzo

Nestled in the rolling hills of Marche, this home is the definition of rural charm. The 200-year-old farmhouse is now a charming, four-bedroom villa showcasing both modern amenities and traditional style. Admire the exposed wooden beams and fireplace in the living space, and take in the views from the master bedroom's private balcony – whoever takes this room is very lucky indeed. The garden is an attraction in its own right, with flourishing flowers and shaded dining areas where you can enjoy breakfast in the morning. Relax by the pool with a book and soak up the views, returning to the house only to rustle up lunch in the kitchen to enjout in the conservatory, one of our favourite spots. If it's even possible, the gardens perhaps look more charming after the sun goes down, when the pool lights up and lamps cast the trees in a warm glow. Gather out here for a barbecue, and afterwards curl up in the historic living room for a nightcap. While this home's charm comes from its rural location, you're just a twenty-minute drive from Pesaro, a coastal city where you can visit palaces and take to the many cycling trails. 

The Rest Is History

Perched above the Adriatic, this charming oasis blends natural beauty with laid-back elegance. Wake to sunrise over the sea, unwind by the pool at sunset, and breathe in the scent of wildflowers on the breeze. Surrounded by private gardens and the serene Monte San Bartolo park, it’s the perfect escape into nature. The vibe is relaxed, the views are endless, and the experience will be truly unforgettable. You’ll need a car to get around, but the spectacular vistas and secluded setting make it more than worth the drive. This is a place to slow down, savour the moment, and soak up the scenery.

Pristine Oasis

Nestled quietly in the countryside, this beautiful home will enchant you from the moment you first set eyes on it. With views over the Val di Chiana and Cortona, this home has it all – stunning stonework, exposed beams, comfortable furnishings and rich gardens. Spend your days swimming in the panoramic infinity pool which is unique, thanks to its telescopic closure system – close the walls and roof and you can access the pool directly from the living room. 

Combining traditional Italian rustic charm with elegance and class, it won't just be the terracotta accents helping you feel the warmth of this home. Dine with loved ones in the wonderfully open-plan space or even share a pizza at the outdoor wood oven, before snuggling around the fireplace to enjoy a bottle of wine and good conversation. With the main villa alongside two annexes, there’s space for privacy but enough to keep the whole family entertained, making this home the perfect backdrop to an Italian adventure. 

Just a few kilometres from Castiglion Fiorentino and delightful Cortona, explore their beauty by meandering through the streets, following the scent of the most divine local cuisine, before returning to your charming rural retreat. 

Wrapped in Jasmine & Aloe

If you're a frequent visitor to Tuscany and looking for somewhere that's slightly off the beaten track for your next trip, the medieval town of Cortona is a lovely choice and this apartment on the outer edges will help you see the best of it.

Spread across two floors, the interior is a distinctive mix of period features, such as the flagstone floors and wooden ceiling beams, and modern touches, like the monochrome kitchen and smart grey bathroom. Compared to a lot of other apartments for two, there's a pleasing amount of space inside and nothing feels cramped.

The local town is one that's easy to explore on foot and you'll discover plenty of restaurants and ice cream parlours, plus a couple of museums, during your wanderings. The Basilica of Saint Margaret of Cortona and Fortress of Girifalco are both only twenty minutes away on foot, too.
