Though it's pocket-sized, it certainly packs a punch – after all, not much beats waking up to the sight of a lyre-playing goddess in a palazzo with ties to the Medici family. The kitchenette is only suitable for snacks, but there's a full-sized one in the building (as well as a large lounge) that's shared with other residents. As for location, you'll be based in trendy Santo Spirito just south of the river. Palazzo Pitti, Ponte Vecchio, and some of the best eateries in the city are all at your fingertips here.

The kitchenette may be small in scale but it has all you need to whip up a quick and delicious supper or breakfast, which you can then enjoy with your loved ones at the elegant dining table by the window.

The Green Dome 

When we came across this quaint apartment, we did a double-take. While it may be a bit old-school in style, it has lots of charm for a city stay. Set on the third floor, with a private balcony overlooking the rooftops of Florence, there's no lack of character here – that being said, it may feel a little dated in parts. And, while the bedrooms are semi-open, limiting privacy, its location in the historic district makes it a good choice for those keen to be close to the action. 

Window to Florence

This apartment is a great base for a family or a group of friends visiting Florence. Situated close to all the historical sights, you can walk to landmarks like the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella, while good public transport connections mean that you can easily reach other parts of the city, too. With comfy bedrooms and plenty of space for dining, not to mention the small private balcony, this place has everything to make your stay here an enjoyable one. There's even a desk if you need to catch up on work. And while the kitchen is on the smaller side (though still well-equipped), you'll find an array of delicious eateries a short stroll away.

The Symmetry

Overlooking Piazza della Signoria, this apartment has a fantastic address. Attractions such as the Fountain of Neptune, Piazza del Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio are all within a very short stroll. Back at this apartment, housed in a historic palazzo, you can take in the views over Piazza della Signoria – the vistas here are stunning. The living area is a great place to relax after a busy day in Florence – this room also sleeps guests five and six on a sofa bed. This home is a great find.
