Located on inside a restored historical building near Piazza della Republica, Pietra Serena is a great stay if you want the city's museums other sights to be on your doorstep. This is a peaceful home, designed with comfort in mind – there are chromotherapy lights in the living room and bathrooms which let you change the light to suit your mood. The second bedroom's single bed is only accessible via the ladder, but just like the rest of the furniture, it's both stylish and immaculate. We particularly loved the high living room ceiling, which amplifies the natural light.

Looking for a characterful bolthole in the historic heart of Tuscany’s capital? This quintessential Florentine apartment should do nicely, set just two minutes from Piazza Santa Maria Novella and five from the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. While the interiors are utterly charming, a home of this heritage does have its quirks. Expect to climb stairs to reach the third floor and a mezzanine space accessed via a small ladder that is unsuitable for young children. It’s also worth noting there's a double sofa bed here and only room for two around the kitchen table. However, there’s heaps of space to spill out in the main living room with those high ceilings and views of the piazza below.

The Music of Florence 

Walk to the Uffizi Gallery in a mere two minutes and admire the masterpieces when you stay at this cosy home. It’s the same distance to the beautiful Piazza della Signoria and Palazzo Vecchio, while the medieval splendour of the Ponte Vecchio is four minutes on foot. Take the short, ten-minute stroll across the bridge to the heart of the city where the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and Bargello National Museum are an afternoon well spent. Love Can Build A Bridge

Around the corner from Ponte Santa Trinità, Chimney Sweep is in a great location for seeing the centre of Florence. Despite being set over three levels, it’s quite small, but while the kitchen is a little underwhelming, the rest of the house feels pleasantly cosy. Unusually, one of our favourite parts of the home is the single room. What used to be an enormous stone fireplace has been converted into a writing nook, and it feels like a wonderful place to set up shop with a laptop and get to work on your novel.


Chimney Sweep

With its slightly kitsch, pop art-inspired aesthetic, Rush Grande won’t appeal to everyone, but it has an undeniable sense of playfulness, and you can’t argue with a location like that. The flat is surrounded by Renaissance architecture, with both the Duomo and the Palazzo Vecchio a few minutes away on foot. The structure itself also fits into the category, and the wooden beams are a nice touch that keep the interior grounded in the area’s history, even if the contrast with the art is striking.


Rush Grande

It feels like you can almost touch the Church of Santo Spirito from the windows of this apartment – we love the vistas here. You also get glimpses of the cathedral from the living room (which also sleeps guests seven and eight on a sofa bed). One bedroom is on a mezzanine, the second overlooks the same views while the third has a courtyard outlook. Located in the heart of the vibrant Santo Spirito district, you’ll be just a few steps from the square and the Boboli Gardens, while Florence Cathedral is within walking distance.

The open-plan living area has just enough room to decompress after sightseeing as well as a compact (yet well-appointed) kitchen to rustle up Italian dishes. Two guests will sleep on a sofa bed, though – fine for short stays, but may not suit everyone.
