You can see the iconic dome of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore without leaving your apartment. Wake up, roll open your blinds and take in the unbeatable vista as you enjoy a leisurely breakfast. With windows on both ends of the room, sunlight streams and creates a bright, feel-good ambience.

If you want to view the Cathedral up close, you'll only have to walk twelve minutes to reach its entrance. Florence's best sights are just moments away from here, including the iconic Uffizi Gallery and the Basilica di Santa Croce di Firenze. End your evening with a riverside meal before heading home to recharge for another action-packed day.


Maggio Romance

Take things easy on one of two gorgeous balconies belonging to this dream of an apartment a short walk from central Florence. With views across the rooftops to the green hills, it's just about 50 metres from Ponte Viejo and Piazza Pitti.

A romantic retreat for two at the top of a traditional building, it's bright, neatly laid out and super comfortable. In the summer months, all you'll need is the small but practical kitchen, the outdoor dining table – shaded from the sun with an awning – and the squashy outdoor corner sofa. Grab some fresh bread, olives and a glass of something chilled, and watch the sun go down over this historic city.

Aria to a Bird

With gorgeous views of the River Armo, this Florentine apartment has two sizeable terraces with space for alfresco dining and basking in the sun. You'll need to bring some of the basics like toiletries and bin bags, especially for longer stays, but there's no shortage of shops right on your doorstep for stocking up on whatever you need. An array of restaurants and the grandiose Pitti Palace are within easy walking distance, and you won't be far from public transport to see the sights of this historic city.

Florence Jewel

This one-bedroom apartment in the heart of Florence boasts a lovely rooftop terrace with sweeping views across the city. You'll have space for dining alfresco, and shops and supermarkets are just minutes away on foot. There's a large flight of steps to reach the entrance, which won't be suitable for everyone, but the views and location are more than worth it. If you're looking for a cosy spot that's a bit out of the way but still within walking distance of attractions and restaurants, look no further.

Florence Retreat

With a charming terrace overlooking red-tiled roofs, we love that this home immerses you in Florence. You're just a short walk from Ponte Vecchio here, and you'll find a wide range of eateries closeby. Back at home, the second bedroom's ensuite opens up into the bedroom – as there's no curtain, we think it's better for baths. In addition, you'll be climbing several flights of stairs to reach this third-floor home as there's no elevator – though we think the terrace makes it worth the walk. It also might not be suitable for some during summer – there's only air conditioning in the living areas, though there are plenty of windows to let in a breeze.

The Lofty Vision

In the heart of Florence's trendy Oltrarno neighbourhood, this charming apartment is ideal for friends and families. Located on the top floor, both bedrooms have their own en-suites and there's a small balcony with space to stand out and enjoy the fresh air. The central location means you can expect some outside noise and one of the bathrooms is very small, but you'll have everything you need for a comfortable stay and the location is great for sightseeing. You'll be right across the road from the beautiful Palazzo Pitti and Boboli Gardens, and public transport is nearby for getting around.

Palazzo Pitti Retreat

This Angiolieri 12th-century tower house is located in Firenze's Oltrarno neighbourhood and offers Arno River views (you’ll need to be prepared to climb the 82 steps to reach it). Whether you’ve come here to experience Florence’s Gothic and Renaissance architecture, famous cuisine, or world-renowned art galleries, you’ll find this charming apartment in this historic building has the perfect local ambience and location. Lovers of classic details, antique designs and historied homes will appreciate the decor here, while the views over Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, and Porto Rosso Tower are a winner for any guest.

Mooch over to Piazza Santo Spirito and Palazzo Pitti to soak up the Renaissance splendour of this city. But when it's time to leave the crowds of the Duomo behind, head to the Boboli Gardens – a hidden green retreat in the city. Or dive into one of the countless trattorias and happening bars nestled in the streets of Oltrarno to experience authentic local life.

Back home, this small but perfectly formed home feels like a breath of fresh air to return to after days of gallivanting about the ancient city's streets. Getting together for drinks and nibbles is a joy at the cosy dining table with views of the emblematic terracotta rooftops outside. While over in the bedroom, exposed gables and Provencal-inspired interiors bring a dose of rural romance.

Despite its central location, nestled in Florence's historic centre, this home is delightfully peaceful, perched up high on the fourth floor and tucked away from the hustle and bustle.

The interior is stylish and inviting, boasting lofty beamed ceilings and hardwood floors. Large windows usher in plenty of light while offering picturesque rooftop views. We especially love the open-plan living space, cloaked in a calming shade of baby blue and exuding an ambience of calm. After a restful slumber, enjoy slow mornings here, sipping espresso on the plush sofas and tucking into breakfast at the dining table before slipping out to explore. Stroll through the cobbled streets, passing through the shop-lined Ponte Vecchio and across the river to marvel at Centro Storico's array of medieval churches and cathedrals, including the red-tiled Duomo, thirteen minutes from your doorstep on foot.

What a Pitti

While we'd never encourage people to lob projectiles at Florence's famous medieval bridge, those with a strong arm and a keen aim could probably throw a stone at Ponte Vecchio from this apartment's balcony. Perched just above the River Arno, it's a truly peaceful setting and offers a unique perspective of the destination. 

Back inside, there's a classic feel to the design, with parquet floors, artworks lining the walls and antique furnishings lending the atmosphere of a museum or an exclusive members' club. That being said, there are contemporary touches too, like the sleek bathrooms and mosaiced kitchen.

Aside from the famous river crossings, there's plenty more to see in the immediate area. Both the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum and Uffizi Gallery can be reached in under five minutes on foot, while Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens sit a little bit further away just across the Arno.
