What this home may lack in style, it makes up for in location. Nestled in the hills of Moneglia, it commands views across the bay and is well-connected by train to Genoa and the coastal villages of the Cinque Terre. Admire the views from a lounger on the terrace, or head down to the pool, which stays relatively shady and cool thanks to the surrounding trees. The furnishings are a little dated, but at least there are sea views in the upper bedrooms, while the large sliding glass doors mean you're never far away from a sunny seat. Plus, the glass dining table comfortably seats your entire group, so you can also enjoy meals together – that's if you don't wander into Moneglia to try one of the restaurants on the palm-tree-lined streets.

This home caught our eye for its sea views across the Gulf of Tigullio. And even when you’re indoors, you can still enjoy the water vistas from the living area and some of the bedrooms. We love the outdoor space here, which is well set up for lazy days by the pool and alfresco dining. Hikers will be pleased to hear that there are coastal walks aplenty nearby, and for days at the beach, you’ll find a choice of seaside towns within driving distance. We think this home provides the perfect backdrop for a peaceful getaway with family or friends – just note that not every room has air conditioning.

Just 500 meters from the historic heart of Pietrasanta, and with restaurants, shops, and amenities right outside your door, you’ll be ideally positioned to explore the charm of this Tuscan town. Inside, you'll find a striking double-height ceiling in the open-plan living area. Each of the two bedrooms features an en-suite bathroom. And while two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room at full capacity, given the size of the space – and the third full bathroom on the ground floor – we think it's well-proportioned to ensure all guests enjoy a comfortable stay.

With a long history of literary greatness, Tuscany has inspired countless poets, playwrights, and authors, and we can see why just by looking at this home. Sonnets could be written about the outdoor area alone, with rhymes of fairy-lit patios, a long swimming pool and romantic woven wicker furniture. Indoors, there's a cosy living room, a well-equipped kitchen, and three comfortable bedrooms – although air conditioning is only available in the hallway. We think it makes a great option for a Tuscan seaside retreat.
