This apartment grabbed our attention for its views of Lake Como. The private roof terrace provides the perfect spot to admire the vistas, and is ready-made for alfresco meals too. If you’re lucky enough to bag the main bedroom, you’ll have a private seating area to enjoy. And when it comes to socialising with your guests, the open-plan living area awaits. Location-wise, you’re in the picturesque town of Menaggio. It’s worth noting that the area is hilly and there are fifty steps to climb to reach the home, so the setting may not suit everyone.

An Italian View

Perched on the edge of Lake Como with majestic mountain views, this is the kind of home that transports you to an instant state of calm. And with its own wellness centre, you’ll find everything you could need for an idyllic retreat in Vercana.

Set within a private complex, this light and airy apartment is immersed in the atmospheric beauty of its location. From the open-plan design to the simple styling, every detail invites you to relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of Italian living. Step outside and you’ll find your own private balcony – the perfect spot to enjoy meditative moments whilst gazing at the mountains.

Downstairs the garden and spa provide the optimum wellness experience. From massage treatments to long soaks in the Turkish bath, this is the kind of setting that will leave you feeling refreshed and ready to explore.

Days can be spent hiking, cycling, sightseeing and sampling delicious Italian cuisine in the nearby restaurants – the beautiful town of Domaso is just a five-minute drive away.

The Mountain Spring

Looking for a Lake Como home with serious wow-factor? How's this penthouse, set inside a lakeside castle, for size? With its grand 1920s neo-medieval exteriors, private mooring and secluded beach, it’s little wonder it’s earned a starring role in Bond's Casino Royale. Inside, the drama continues with period mosaic floors and frescoed ceilings married with sleek, modern interiors. But the real showstopper is the private rooftop terrace and balcony with sweeping lake views. Set along the coastal road leading to the pretty village of Menaggio, having a car is handy here. Although chartering a boat to channel your inner Bond might be more fitting.

The Royale Penthouse

This home in Domaso sits on a hillside surrounded by vineyards, with wide views over Lake Como. It’s in a quiet countryside spot, but you’re still only a short walk from the waterfront’s restaurants and bars. You’ll have access to a large shared garden with plenty of places to sit, sunbathe, or eat while taking in the lake and mountain views. There’s also a private balcony if you want your own space. Inside, the home is set over two levels with an open-plan living area that makes it easy for everyone to relax or dine together. It’s a little dated in parts, but it all adds to the laidback charm.

Echoes of Como

Make the most of the Lake Como views at this apartment. Set in a former textile factory, it marries traditional charm with contemporary style – and stunning scenery, of course. The wooden terrace will be a hit with everyone. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of Italian wine and watch the boats glide on the water. As for location, you'll find it in San Siro, a quaint little town perfect for those wanting something off the beaten track. The beach and lakefront are a short walk away. Or, if you fancy sightseeing, Menaggio is five minutes by car.

San Siro Style

Set in the historic lakeside town of Gravedona, this charming apartment is just steps from Lake Como’s sparkling waters. The interiors are bright and welcoming, with an open-plan kitchen and living area that opens directly onto an enclosed garden, with views of the town on one side and the mountains on the other. Stroll along the lakeside promenade or take to the hiking and cycling trails that weave through the dramatic surrounding scenery.

Lake Como Residence

This quiet hilltop apartment with mountain and river views from a private terrace is all about rest and reset. Set in a small village two kilometres outside Sorico, besides nearby hiking trails and a local park and bar, there's little else within walking distance. But for us, that's all part of the charm – and Lago di Como and Lago di Mezzola are just a short drive away when it's time to join the bustle. It's worth noting, at full occupancy, the last two guests will share a sofa bed in the lounge. While this won't suit everyone, it would work out great for a small family sharing.

Leonardo's Haven

With its private access to a lakeside promenade via a manicured garden, this villa is truly one of a kind. While the scenery is certainly the main event here, don’t let that fool you – the interiors are nothing to scoff at either. Sitting down for a meal in the dining room is an event in itself – a stunning view of the Alps across the lake will be your backdrop while you dine. Taking a scenic drive north will bring you to the picturesque town of Dongo, where small trattorias on narrow lanes offer delicious takes on the local cuisine.

A Lakeside Stroll

It wouldn't be a Lake Como holiday without spectacular mountain vistas – and this home delivers. On the terrace, you can bask in panoramic views of the lake and surrounding peaks, all while lounging with a book or sipping a coffee at the dining table. And if the interiors of this apartment are a little uninspiring, there's always the residence's wellness area to retreat to, where you can unwind in the sauna or indoor pool. The northern edge of Lake Como is quieter than its southern counterpart, where lakeside towns like Domaso, a ten-minute drive away, are almost entirely free of tourists – perfect if you want a more authentic Italian Lakes escape.

Sun-Kissed Peaks

Combining stunning Lake Como views with a whole host of spa amenities, this apartment strikes us as an ideal tonic for cluttered minds. The living space is functional if a little on the sparse side, but it is awash with sunlight. That's thanks to the large French doors, which open onto the balcony – there you'll find an alfresco dining spot, perfect for twilight digestifs. In the shared spa, you're spoilt for choice, with a sauna, Turkish bath, massage tables, and heated pool vying for your attention.

Dreaming In The Hills

This villa caught our attention for its breathtaking front-row lake views. Set right on Lake Como, it’s easy to while away the hours in the private gardens. There’s a swimming pool and two beautiful terraces where you can unwind or dine in complete privacy, all framed by postcard-worthy views of the lake and surrounding mountains. If you can tear yourself away from the outdoors, you’ll find plenty of space inside to come together as a group, including a well-appointed kitchen and a generous living-dining area. It’s worth noting that the two ground floor bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms without toilets – though with private showers, this shouldn’t disrupt your routine too much.

Glints Upon Serenity

With panoramic views of the lake and the mountains from the large balcony, this home is the perfect retreat. There’s a small, shared garden here as well with a barbecue for alfresco meals. The vistas are great from the living area – this room also sleeps guests five and six on a sofa bed. When you want to explore, it’s a short drive to the lake, while the town of Domaso, with its shops, cafes and restaurants, is 4 kilometres away.
