At the heart of this dreamy apartment is a spectacular veranda terrace that will have you pinching yourself as you look out across the lake. Stylishly furnished, this home is as resplendent inside as it is outside, benefitting from calming open spaces bathed in natural light that are well suited for small gatherings with friends or family. This breathtaking former quarryman's cottage offers you the ultimate escape. It's only accessible from the water so you're free to get on with the important business of relaxing. Alternatively, take inspiration from its owner, renowned author and journalist Guiseppe Guin, and crack on with that book you've always had inside you, free from the noise and distractions of everyday life.

Inside, exposed stone walls lined with leather-bound books, an antique stove, and a kitchen carved from granite make the home feel like a place out of time. With its lakeside setting on a wooded hillside, there's definitely a 'Lord of the Rings' vibe about it.

Two double en-suite bedrooms continue the theme, with plenty of curios and trinkets lining the walls. Just choose between the lake view room, where you'll hear the sound of the waves lapping at the shore, or the forest view chamber that looks out through the laurel trees.

Inside, the interiors are rustic and at full capacity, two people will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the open-plan living space. If that's not an issue, there's plenty to explore out and about. Located in Blevio, there's the stunning Giardinetti Di Sorto, a short walk away, or go for a hike through the forests of Sasso del Lupo nearby.

When you stay at this apartment in the lakeside town of Torno, you'll have the area's tourist attractions within walking distance. There are a handful of eateries nearby, too, or cook up some Italian cuisine in this spacious apartment's kitchen. Alternatively, let your host arrange a private chef while you put your feet up – you're on holiday, after all. We love the features here, such as the beamed ceilings and panelled walls. This place is ideal for a family – bedroom two is more suitable for the kids as it has a bunk bed.

If you’re seeking the kind of serenity that comes from enjoying far-reaching views across a glassy lake, this could be the home for you. As you’d expect with a studio, space is limited here, but it’s a cosy place for two. And, step out into the garden, and you can while away the hours drinking in the vistas over a bottle of wine. We also like the bathtub facing the door so you can even admire the views from inside. Because of the perched location of this home, you'll have to climb steps up to it, but it'll all be worth it for the breathtaking panorama of Lake Como. We love the vistas over Lake Como from this apartment’s Juliet balconies in the living room and bedroom. On a practical note, the living area can get a bit cramped if four guests stay, as two will be sleeping on a sofa bed here. Also, the kitchenette doesn’t have an oven or much food preparation space, so it’s best suited to making snacks and light meals. Luckily, there are a couple of eateries nearby. This home is situated in Carate Urio on the western shore of Lake Como, with lots of residential villas. If you fancy going on a boat trip to explore Lake Como’s other towns, take a ten-minute walk to Urio’s dock.

Your host can also organise boat trips for you. With Como also just a fifteen-minute drive from your, there’s no end to the magical memories in store.

Here, there are a variety of dining options and shops to discover, while Giardino della Valle and the Villa Erba exhibition and trade centre are also a short stroll away. The home itself has modern decor, and the open-plan living space sleeps guests three and four on a sofa bed. There’s also a terrace area filled with palms to enjoy the Italian sun. Last but not least, there’s free parking in a private garage – this place is great for exploring Lombardy.

One glance at those Lake Como views and you'll fall in love with this cosy and romantic flat. There's nothing better than sitting around the dining table, sipping wine, nibbling on antipasti and watching the water ebb and flow out the window. Later on, snuggle up on the cushy sofas with a book or get comfortable in the bedrooms, resting up for an adventure-filled day. The design is a delightful mishmash of mid-century modern, classic Italian character and clean, contemporary style. Although it's compact, the cheery yellow kitchen is sure to put a smile on your face as you're rustling up breakfast, and with two showers, you won't have to worry about queuing in the mornings.

Location-wise, Carate Urio has oodles of old-world charm and an authentic, local atmosphere. Enjoy a cappuccino right by the water, then sprawl out on the small beach for a spot of sunbathing and swimming. In the evenings, stroll along the steeped, winding lanes in the village before grabbing a bite to eat at the traditional restaurants. And when you fancy exploring further afield, catch the ferry from Urio's dock (only a short walk away) to travel to Como.

Disembark and step inside to discover a spacious and stylish open-plan living area and kitchen, kitted out with all the culinary accoutrements you might need to whip up delicious homemade meals, just like nonna used to make.

From the living room, not only will you enjoy access to a private balcony through two sets of French doors, but also awe-inspiring panoramic views capable of bringing a tear to the eye. The soothing atmosphere of the bedrooms will help you relax after your journey, while there's a good amount of storage space so you can unpack and settle in. The main bedroom even finds room for a desk and enjoys access to an en-suite shower room.

When you're not sunbathing and swimming in the lake, explore the surrounding village of Laglio. With slopes full of vineyards and olive groves, and pastel-coloured villas, it's one of the most elegant lakeside locations. But don't take our word for it. George Clooney purchased his nearby eighteenth-century estate back in 2002 and still returns multiple times a year, some two decades later.

And, if you can tear yourself away from this hillside sanctuary, there’s a restaurant within walking distance, and charming Cernobbio is a mere four-minute drive away.

If you’ve ever fleetingly imagined another life for yourself – drinking espresso in your stylish Italian apartment as the sun streams in through the tall windows, maybe – then welcome to your Como abode. Framed by wooden shutters, the wonderful huge windows define every room, letting light dapple over the beautiful parquet floor. Period and contemporary pieces blend to give this home its tasteful yet welcoming feel – see the wooden dining table with accompanying designer chairs. And with air conditioning and an in-home washing machine, there’s no compromise on functionality. The huge living space is great for hanging out after a day of sightseeing, and we love the super squishy corner sofa. Crucially, the home is right in the heart of the pedestrian part of the city. You're right next to Palazzo Garibaldi, and plenty of restaurants, shops, bars. It's a short walk to the waterfront promenade too – we've taken longer to polish off a gelato. 


Bella Luce

This cosy apartment in the village of Torno is ideal for families and couples looking for an authentically Italian stay by the water. We think the terrace here could do with a bit of a refresh, but there's space to enjoy an alfresco drink or snack in the shade. You'll need to climb stairs to reach the home's entrance, but you'll have some lovely views of the rooftops and Lake Como itself from the dining area. The lake is just a stroll from your doorstep, and the city of Como is easily reachable by bus for days out.

But, the cherry on top for us is the location. Mere steps from the Duomo and the tranquil shores of Lake Como, ticking off the city’s hotspots is easy here.

Just a short stroll from the lake, this apartment brings you to the magical heart of Como. You’ll find everything you could on the doorstep with an abundant selection of shops, restaurants and cafes in the neighbourhood. The train station is also a short walk away and there is paid parking available nearby. It’s worth noting the apartment is set across two floor with stairs, but you will find plenty of space to stretch out and unwind with a cosy living room and three snug bedrooms.

This apartment has a great, central location – it has an address right on Piazza Volta in Como. So, you’ll have restaurants and bars literally on your doorstep. It’s a short stroll to the shores of Lake Como, the Duomo di Como and the Giardini del Tempio Voltiano too. Many of the apartment’s windows have views over the piazza and the main bedroom has vistas of the lake as well. This apartment is the perfect place for an unforgettable stay in Como.

The city of Como is a fantastic place to base yourself to explore some of the small lakeside settlements. It boasts a vibrant atmosphere, outstanding eateries and bougie boutiques, all within a stone's throw of your front door. Stroll a short distance to the harbour, where local ferries depart for the likes of Bellagio, Varenna and Menaggio. In addition, active types might want to head into the mountains for scenic hikes, where each turn reveals ever more spectacular views.

This contemporary apartment is located in Via Tommaso Grossi in Como, offering panoramic views of the city and lake from the communal rooftop terrace. We love the sleek interiors of this home, which provides a comfortable stay for a family or group of friends. Just note – as a party of five, two people will draw the short straw and sleep on the sofa bed in the living room. Still, it’s a sacrifice we’d be willing to make for this pad’s enviable location. If the views tempt you out for a meander, you’ll find Como at your feet just waiting to be explored.

This villa has a lot to offer. For starters, the location is fantastic. Cernobbio is right at your fingertips – you're just a ten-minute walk from the town's restaurants, lakefront promenade, historic villas, and ferry port. The private pool back home is perfect for an evening dip, while the traditional living area is the definition of cosy. Our favourite spot to unwind is in the sunroom, a glass of wine in one hand and a good book in another. All the bedrooms are comfortable, though one lacks air conditioning, and two others have small double beds. There's also an office for remote workers, an outdoor table for alfresco dining, and private parking for exploring Lake Como with ease.

Sightseeing is a breeze at this apartment in the heart of Como. Whether you're keen to explore on foot or head out on the water, you couldn't ask for a better position in the town. But aside from the setting, we love how bright, cosy, and comfortable this apartment is. It seamlessly blends the traditional with the modern – think exposed brick fireplace, stained glass windows, and terracotta floors. The cherry on top is the private terrace, where you can sit with a glass of wine and enjoy the evening sunshine.
