Practical in all the right ways, this minimalist home sits near the western shores of Laka Garda. You can't beat the location. It's just a short stroll to the lakefront promenade and beaches, not to mention only 250 metres from the restaurants, gelaterias, and shops in Toscolano. Back home, a sunny garden and private pool provide plenty of entertainment. A couple of sofa beds keep sleeping arrangements flexible here, and while some of the design is a little dated, we think it'll do just fine for a family getaway.

Nestled in Cecina village, where rolling green hills form an enviable backdrop, this villa lies only minutes from the famous Lake Garda. But it isn't all about location, even though we love how quickly you can walk to a restaurant from here. You will need a car to get around here, but it’s just 5 kilometres to the nearest town of Salò where you’ll find the beach along with a great selection of restaurants and shops.

With three large lounges, a pool complete with pool house and an extensive outdoor deck, you can take your pick of places to spend time with friends. If you don’t want to miss the action but crave a little bit more me-time, you can always opt for the separate loft room; it comes with its own personal kitchenette (hello, late-night snacks). The home’s perfectly manicured garden is just steps away from Lake Garda – we can’t think of a set-up more perfect than this.

This lakeside home caught our eye for its panoramic views of Lake Garda. Whether you’re lounging by the pool, tucking into an alfresco meal, or relaxing in the living area, you’ll be able to admire the water vistas. And with each bedroom also boasting lake views – including the family room which has a double bed and a bunk bed – you’ll be spoilt for choice. Outdoor living is easy here, thanks to the summer kitchen and barbecue, and there’s a ping pong table to keep the kids entertained while you cook. Location-wise, you’re in the village of Castelletto di Brenzone, with walking and cycling routes on your doorstep, a lakeside beach just 600 metres away, and water sports aplenty nearby.

As soon as you approach this lovely home's building, you're greeted with a beautiful pond with a fountain and colourful fish – we felt an air of calm straight away. The garden has an even bigger pond – the shared swimming pool is perfect for cooling off in the Italian heat or simply relax with a book on the lounger.

Inside the apartment, there are characterful exposed beams and terracotta tiled floors. Another stand-out feature of this home is the main bathroom which has Swarovski crystals set in the furniture and on the washbasin – we do love a bit of bling.

Situated a few steps from Spiaggia D'oro and the centre of Desenzano del Garda, it has a fabulous location. If you have kids with you, there's a playground 50 metres away too.

Housed in an elegant building in the Piazza Duomo in Desenzano del Garda, this home has a fabulous setting. The apartment is located just 50 metres from Lake Garda and the many shops, bars and restaurants. It's just 150 metres from one of the lake's sandy beaches too.

Back at this apartment, relax on the balcony off the main bedroom with a glass of wine. Inside, we love the feature ornate fireplace in the open plan living space, but the real highlight here is the beautiful view of the city's cathedral from the main bedroom window (this room also has vibrant botanical wallpaper).

Later, if you don't fancy eating out, rustle up some risotto con la tinca (rice with fish and chard) in the modern kitchen and enjoy the fruits of your labour at your dining table. After a busy day, get ready for bed in the marble-clad bathroom with its large shower and then get some rest.

Sitting up in a prime position overlooking Lake Garda, this wonderful villa boasts some absolutely breathtaking views of the lake and the many terracotta-topped buildings that surround it.
