This architecturally designed home, with a romantic view of the world-famous Lake Como, was built in the 40s and still welcomes families and large groups of friends for a tranquil Italian getaway. Though the interior is beautiful, especially with exposed Moltrasio stone, the garden is what caught our eye. You'll find seating for everything from alfresco meals to quiet moments with a book, and a private pool with a view. With the lake so close, there's paddle boat and canoe hire for those wanting to get better acquainted with the lake. But if relaxing is what you're after, the private sauna and hot tub are waiting.

The Pelican's Nest

Transporting you right to the edge of Lake Como, this home will captivate you with its sweeping views and beautiful garden. It’s also just a short drive from Argegno, making this a great base from which to explore and admire the nearby sights. Back at home, the focus is on pure relaxation. You can soak in the incredible views from the jacuzzi or whilst sipping drinks on the terrace. There are lots of steps here so it may not be suitable for young children, but you will find an internal lift connecting the three floors – a nice option for those with reduced mobility. 


A Dream to Remember

With private boat mooring, peaceful grounds and beautiful views, this home opens its doors to the timeless magic of lakeside living. Dating back to the 19th-century, the main house and adjoining annexe can accommodate eighteen guests with an extra double room (for two guests) available for an additional fee. And from the moment of arrival, you’ll find plenty to keep you entertained. From the private pool and tennis court to the games room and antique furnishings, every detail has been considered to deliver an unforgettable stay. You can also enjoy a complimentary dinner service on your first night, daily breakfast is included and a private chef is available (for an additional fee) throughout your stay. And when it comes to adventures further afield, it’s just a short drive or boat trip to nearby Menaggio and Como. 

Haven of Beauty

Gazing out across Lake Como, this home offers an enviable position with breathtaking views. Outside, you can enjoy long soaks in the Jacuzzi and swims in the heated pool. There are also multiple terraces perfectly positioned for evening drinks and alfresco dining. And while there is everything you could need, you can also treat your group to a range of extras – including private chefs and spa treatments. Inside, the rooms are family-friendly with children’s amenities available on request. And for explorations further afield, it’s just a short stroll to the nearest village, while Bellagio is less than a forty-minute ferry ride away.   

Beauty on the Lake

This lakeside home boasts a dream location in the picturesque village of Sala Comacina. The villa sits right on the edge of Lake Como and has a dock so you can bring a boat and spend your time on the water. When your feet are on terra firma, you’ll have a Jacuzzi to soak in – the beautiful garden overlooks the lake. There’s an alfresco dining area and a barbecue, too. Inside, huge windows draw the eye outside to the glorious vista – Lake Como is the star of the show here. 

Lulled by the Lake

We defy anyone to look through this home's photos and not feel instantly at ease. It's something to do with the ample amounts of space, cleansing white walls and large arched windows that look out over rooftops and also flood the interior with sunshine.

The design is definitely sparse, although we think there are enough personal touches to ward off accusations of anonymity. The floral-style lampshade in the bedroom is eye-catching and we also like the vintage travel adverts hanging in frames on the wall.

However, don't be surprised if you don't actually spend all too much time in the apartment. The home's position in the Mezzegra region is simply gorgeous, helped by the fact that the banks of Lake Como can be reached in five minutes' walk. Villa del Balbianello takes forty-five minutes to reach on foot, while you catch a ferry to the town of Bellagio in just over an hour.

White Negroni

After being occupied by the same family for five generations, this home lay uninhabited for several decades before it was treated to a complete renovation. Today, the thought that this remarkable home lay unappreciated for so long makes us slightly sad.

The views alone are worth a stay here. From the two terraces, you get a sensational panorama of Lake Como, the mountains surrounding the waters and some of the local area's spectacular buildings, like Villa Balbianello. With a pair of loungers and an alfresco dining table, you can pass hours upon hours with this backdrop for company.

Back inside the home, some period features, like the exposed brickwork, have been tastefully retained, while many of the more modern additions are vintage in style, such as the copper bathtub in one of the bedrooms, the tiled flooring and the mighty wooden dining table. The kitchen is as contemporary as they come, however.

The local village of Mezzegra on your doorstep has restaurants, a bakery and a handful of historic churches to wander between. The banks of the lake can also be reached in ten minutes on foot, while Monte Crocione sits behind the property if you're up for a challenge.



Family Heirloom

When we saw the Lake Como vistas from this gorgeous villa, we thought we were dreaming – they are sublime. Admire them from the hot tub and sun loungers in the beautiful lakeside garden or while cooking some local produce on the barbecue. Inside, it is no less impressive – the views can be enjoyed from here too from the floor-to-ceiling windows. With lots of features such as a spiral staircase, stone floors and interesting antiques – this home is perfect for entertaining your friends and family in style.

This villa has its own private berth, so you can charter a boat and explore Lake Como. Or, head to Sala Comacina, a five-minute stroll away, with its picturesque old town, quaint narrow streets and glorious views of Comacina, Lake Como's only island. Spiaggia di San Vito, a lakeside beach, is a twelve-minute saunter from here, if you want to dip your toes in the crystal-clear water.



Wild Euphorbias

The tight geometric lines of this home may seem incongruous against Lake Como’s lush natural landscape, but reserve judgment until you’ve come inside. As soon as you step into the living space, we’re sure you’ll agree that the stark decor and modernist architecture perfectly frames the view of the lake and the island of Comocina available from every window. Run by a local family, everything in this home is geared towards your enjoyment from the luxurious bedding to the fireplace which lights up dark evenings. Relax in the private infinity pool with the scent of jasmine and lavender drifting up from the garden overlooking what is, in our not-so-humble opinion, the best view in the whole region. 

Lakeside Slate

Lake Como has an old-school glamour to it, dating back to the days of the grand tours, but particularly pronounced in the golden age of cinema when northern Italy was the playground of film stars, Italian and American alike. This waterside apartment captures something of that 1950s feeling, with the vintage furniture and retro prints. Of course, the real draw is its position on the shores of the lake and the unbelievable view from the balcony, but that kind of goes without saying. It may also be obvious to say that you'll have an easy time relaxing amidst the stylish interiors of this home. Whether it's from the pink velvet looking out onto the surrounding mountainous scenes or from the kitchen cooking up your favourite Italian delicacies with a soothing holiday soundtrack playing from the Marshall speaker – you'll be pretty much guaranteed a blissful experience when staying here. With the Bellagio positioned directly opposite and Villa Carlotta just a two-minute walk away – there's no better base from which to make the most of Lake Como and its fabulous town than this perfect pad. 


Lake Pontoon

A hot tub overlooking Lake Como and you’re own boat dock; this villa is not your average lakeside getaway. If you’re not using your own boat, the ferry jetty is a three-minute walk from the villa, ready to whisk you to the lakeside delights of Bellagio or Varenna for the day. Or, stick around in the peaceful village of Sala Comacina, with its lakeside lido and handful of local restaurants.

The villa’s outdoor space is, quite simply, stunning. A panoramic view of the azure lake, flanked by rich green mountains is on offer from every lawn lounger, parasol-shaded dining table and covered veranda. Perhaps the best spot to take in the vista is from the comfort of the bubbling hot tub. 

Picture-frame windows inside mean you don’t miss out on Lake Como views in the bedrooms either. Glass French doors and a wall of windows open the opulent living room out to the covered veranda, blending indoors with outdoors. An old stone fireplace can keep the place cosy in the cooler months and a marble-style floor keeps things cool underfoot. In raw light-wood, the kitchen feels Scandi-chic and there’s plenty of room in here to cook and dine comfortably. We particularly love the wooden beams still on display in the huge master bedroom. 

Picture A Lake

Boasting a front-row seat to the wild, untouched beauty of Comacina Island, this home offers breathtaking views with serenity to boot. You'll find it in the picturesque town of Ossuccio, peacefully perched on the shores of Lake Como and surrounded by a pretty cluster of pastel-hued homes. Here, you're in a prime location for exploring the region, with Downtown Como a thirty-minute drive away. Closer to home, take a twenty-minute stroll to Villa del Balbianello and admire its stunning terraced gardens.

Though compact, this home promises comfort through thoughtful design and contemporary decor. Inside, a timeless canvas of white walls, hardwood floors and heaps of natural light create a peaceful and inviting ambience, beckoning you to relax in the splendour of your surroundings. We love the open-plan living space, with its cosy dining nook and sleek, fully-fitted kitchen. Though the real treat is the private terrace, offering uninterrupted lakeside views. Spend your days here, basking in the sun, and come sunset, settle around the alfresco dining table for a candle-lit dinner under the stars.
