We’re sure you’ll love the location here. It’s situated between the vibrant Piazza San Michele and the Via Fillungo, so you’ll have plenty of boutiques and restaurants on your doorstep.

It’s twilight, the sky is painted deep blue with streaks of purple, and you’re looking out over rustic rooftops as a gentle breeze carries murmurs of arias from the nearby music conservatory – your Tuscan fantasy is just beginning. Take in the lovely vistas of the Guinigi Tower and Lucca Cathedral with a drink. Your expansive terrace and the apartment to which it’s attached are situated on the top floor of a building dating back to the 1400s. The meeting of worlds old and new continues inside with tasteful furnishings and little dashes of luxury – think mirrored cabinets, cut crystalware and feather-trimmed cushions. When you aren’t taking holiday snaps from the terrace, we recommend a stroll around Lucca (or take the two bicycles provided for a ride). In addition to the conservatory, the home is right by Piazza del Suffragio and the must-see medieval church, Santa Giulia (all under a minute on foot), while several fantastic restaurants are on your doorstep. If you want to explore Guinigi Tower and Lucca Cathedral up close, both are a two-minute walk away.

Much like the city of Lucca itself, there’s a bonafide touch of opulence to this apartment that we can’t resist. Gleaming chequered marble flooring sweeps through the home. While a rich tapestry of pattern and colour adds flourishes of modernity and echo the pastel facades of the walled city outside.

Once you’ve done gawping over the grand living and dining space, head into the boutique-feel bedrooms, where it’s out with the drab and in with vibrant textiles. Friends sharing will love the two seperate bathrooms, so there’s no hanging around when it’s time to get up and at ’em. And indeed, you should.

Right outside your doorstep, you’ll find the leafy garden of Palazzo Pfanner for some fresh air. Or simply lose yourself to Lucca’s cobbled streets, discovering handsome piazzas and renaissance palaces at every turn. Beneath its exposed beam ceilings dotted with skylights, you'll find comfortable contemporary furnishings, antique decor and elaborate Renaissance-style touches, all bathed in golden Tuscan sunlight. We loved the elevated shower cubicle behind the bed, though we recognise it won't appeal to everyone. 

Step out, and you'll find yourself within the ancient city walls, which enclose charming streets lined with medieval buildings, quaint shops, and delicious restaurants. Enjoy leisurely strolls along the top of the walls, which offer stunning views of the surrounding Tuscan countryside.
