Bankside has a wonderful view, overlooking the confluence of two of the canals of Navigli. It’s right in the middle of the area – one of Milan’s liveliest – and works well as a base from which to explore. The interior is never going to win awards for its design, but it’s kept very well, and honestly, you’ll be spending most of your time sipping a spritz on the canal anyway.

Concordia is really charming – Milco is a wonderful host, and she’s done a really good job at making this flat very welcoming. It’s worth mentioning though that the little space between the bedroom and the living room is a bit strange. It feels like it should be a second bedroom, with some bunk beds against the wall, but it’s actually a hallway, and the only place from which you can enter the bathroom. Given the size of the place, we’d only really recommend people using the bunk beds if completely necessary.

Perched along the Naviglio Grande, this apartment offers a comfortable base for those who want to drop their bags and get out exploring. Location-wise, you're a five-minute walk from the Tortona district area – home of the Milan Fashion Week, while the Duomo and the city centre are just a short tram ride away. The apartment itself is housed in a typical Milan-style building, and although the interiors aren't the most inspiring, you'll soon feel right at home here – plus both bedrooms offer canal views for a spring in your step, come morning.

The Lago Design pieces give it a unique touch, as well as a cosy and homely feel, especially the suspended round-shaped bed in the master bedroom. The bold coloured walls and mix of modern style with antique elements make for a characterful interior, while the sunken bathtub adds that extra level of comfort. Whether you're relaxing in the living room with a good book or powering through work in the dedicated office space, expect to find a bright and uplifting spot, benefitting from curated plants and thoughtful furnishings. Bookmark any day by sipping sundown drinks on your private balcony, offering skyline views over the city. Outside, shop-till-you-drop in Zona Tortona (five-minute walk) or take a thirty minutes stroll to the iconic Duomo di Milano for a taste of culture.

What you see is what you get with Piccolino. It’s a tiny flat, and even having two people staying there might be too many (we have no idea what’s going on with the second bed, but it could be useful for storing suitcases), but what is there is very nice. We’re not talking designer furniture, but if it’s been thought through, as is the case here, there’s nothing necessarily wrong with stocking up at Ikea. The location is super vibrant and design buffs will particularly enjoy it.

Close to Navigli, Via Tortona, and Milan's fashion museum, this apartment is one for the trendsetters. A metro station is nearby, so zipping in and out of the centre is a breeze. It's also close to the excitement of Milan Fashion Week. Other than the location, the real highlight is the private terrace. It's the ideal spot to enjoy an Aperol Spritz as the sun goes down. That doesn't mean we don't love the interiors. Featuring crane murals, sleek marble, and gold accents, it all feels very fashionable – just as long as two guests don't mind sleeping on sofa beds.

You’ll find this convenient apartment close to the Darsena, the final waterway remaining from Milan’s canal system. Now it’s a pleasant place to stroll and sit among locals after days spent seeing the sights. You’re in a great location, with the Duomo and other key spots within walking distance. And for those further-afield attractions, you need only stroll to the P.T.A Genova metro station nearby. The apartment itself is simple and rather plain – it’s not the most lively or soulful place. Two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room, which could make things feel crowded – thankfully you can always escape to the petite balcony for a breath of fresh air.

There’s no need to hire a car for a stay in this apartment in Milan’s old town – most of the must-see sights can be reached on foot and there’s a Metro station a minute’s walk away. Located on the top floor of a historical building, you’re away from the hustle and bustle of the streets below so it’s surprisingly quiet for a city centre pad. The minimalist decor here won’t be to everyone’s taste, but we love the mix of white walls and bold window frames. And the large roof terrace is the perfect place to enjoy an aperitivo before heading out for dinner at one of the many local restaurants.

The Art of Milan

A few steps from Colonne di San Lorenzo and the Basilica di San Lorenzo, this apartment puts you in one of Milan's coolest districts. The surrounding streets are dotted with vintage shops, laid-back trattorias and buzzing dive bars – though all the landmarks are within easy reach with a metro station and tram stops nearby. We love the sunlit living space – made even brighter by the yellow paint – as well as the two well-sized bedrooms. It's a lively area, and the apartment is above one of the neighbourhood's late-night spots. We think it's a better fit for guests who don't mind a bit of noise.

Modern, bright and wonderfully central, this apartment in Milan’s elegant Brera neighbourhood is just the ticket for those looking to make the most out of the city’s most iconic sights.

Looking to stay right in the heart of Milan? We’ve found you just the right spot in town. Overlooking the beautiful church of San Giorgio al Palazzo and less than five-minutes away from the Duomo, lies this light-filled penthouse. Spread out across the top floor of an elegant building, the home is made for a family or a group of friends set on exploring the city.  We particularly loved the living spaces which make for easy socialising. The original marble fireplace and custom-made bookcases create the perfect setting to come together for a few pre-evening drinks. And surprisingly, for somewhere this central we found the apartment very quiet. It really is the perfect retreat within the hustle and bustle of Milan.

Packed full of character and colour, you’ll find this modern pad in the heart of Milan, just a short distance from the Tricolore Metro Station. We love the vibrancy of this home, with artwork adorning the walls that remind you what’s so special about this city. For those in the city on business, there are two workstations here, making remote work a breeze. And the balconies, while compact, are just the spot for a morning coffee or drop of limoncello. Location-wise, it’s a dream, with Piazza San Babila, the Duomo, Via Montenapoleone, and the Corso Vittorio Emanuele all within walking distance.

Just outside the city centre, a twenty-minute walk from the shopping streets of Via della Spiga and Corso Venezia, this stylish and sophisticated home is comfortable and homey, with a personality all of its own. Anything but ordinary, it's set in a traditional building and it's been styled with creativity and love.

Boasting a private balcony big enough to sit out on with your aperitivo, and a big wall of windows in the living room, it looks out over a green courtyard. With its floor-to-ceiling windows on all sides, the open-plan living area gives you privileged views across Milan’s rooftops and a living backdrop to admire from the comfort of the sofa or while enjoying a meal at the stylish round dining table. 

The two bedrooms, meanwhile, have a similarly modern aesthetic, with an en-suite main bedroom letting you wake up to more tall window views and a second bedroom equipped with a desk space should you need to catch up on work. 

You’ve also got access to a communal rooftop terrace – the ideal spot to take in sunset views of the Duomo di Milano over a celebratory Spritz before going out to sample the local restaurant scene. 

When it comes to sightseeing, you couldn’t ask for a more central location. The Duomo di Milano is a seven-minute walk away, the elegant ​​Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a five-minute stroll, the Teatro alla Scala is walkable in eight and the fashionable Quadrilatero della moda is four minutes away on foot.

The location of The Young Artist really sets it apart. It’s less than ten minutes on foot from the Duomo, but tucked away on a quiet street, hidden from the touristic throngs. The apartment’s light, bright colour scheme has been balanced with homely touches to create a warm environment – it’s a pleasure to return to after a day of sightseeing. There’s no better way to start your morning than with a rich espresso on the quiet balcony. On top of that, Lasija is a wonderful host, who’s always ready to make your stay as comfortable as possible. You’re two doors down from a café and a five-minute walk around the corner to bars and ristorantes. Take a quick ten-minute stroll to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II for a spot of shopping in the upscale boutiques or spend a relaxed afternoon in the Sempione Park, reached in just over twenty-five minutes by foot. We recommend grabbing a drink at the kiosk and enjoying the sunshine. 

The Young Artist

With the impressive Duomo di Milano just a short walk or a five-minute metro ride away, you’ll be well-positioned with this apartment to take in many of the city's attractions. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes to explore within the locale too. This home offers a comfortable stay, so you may not want to be a rolling stone once you settle into the comfy sofa. Although, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed at full capacity. Otherwise, this place is a great Milanese bolthole.

The Heart of Milan

The terrace, along with the vast windows, helps counter some smaller issues with Bredbeddle. As a whole, it’s a lovely flat – the white walls and brilliant light give it a sense of space and calm. As you step onto the balcony, it’s as if you’re no longer in the city, so intense is the green that greets you on all sides. You are, however, very much in the middle of the city, and there are lots of good places to eat nearby, which is important given that the kitchen is the biggest letdown in the place. It’s very small, and you wouldn’t want to do more than heating up a pot there.

You'll find this contemporary apartment in buzzing Milan, but it takes design inspiration from all over the globe. The Scandi-style living room has hygge written all over it, making it perfect for relaxing or at-home working, and the Japanese bedroom is a characterful spot to end an exciting day exploring the city. Though it's snug, this apartment is super stylish – we loved the bright living area in particular, which has parquet flooring, quirky wall art and a sleek kitchen where you can whip up a tasty Italian feast. There's a real sense of peace here, which is a much-appreciated reprieve from the hustle and bustle nearby. You're not in central Milan, but this neighbourhood has its own charm and offers plenty of liveliness, with many bars, restaurants, cafes and gelaterias in walking distance. Plus, the famous Duomo is just a twenty-minute stroll away, so you're not far from the iconic sights.

Between the canals of Navigli and Bocconi University, this apartment is in a privileged position. It's pretty spacious, with much of the floors covered in a beautiful herringbone parquet and a couple of nods to Milan's status as a fashion capital in the form of couture-themed artworks on the living room wall. The dining area is especially chic, thanks to the tall windows, and would make the ideal place to serve up a fresh Italian feast. It's wonderfully quiet here, but the sights and sounds of Milan are not far away – a twenty-minute walk will bring you to the famous Duomo and Zona Tortona Design District.

A sensorial stay with homespun design, an eclectic collection of antiques and knockout views across Milan, this apartment is certainly one to remember. It’s only right to begin with the terrace – your own private jungle with dining set for sun-soaked breakfasts and glasses of wine in the early evening as the basilicas glow in the hopelessly romantic dusk. There’s a real sense of serenity to this home in Milan’s Porta Venezia district with its beamed ceilings, rustic-meets-modern furniture and its oasis-like terrace. Boasting shuttered French doors in each room leading out onto this calm outdoor space, you can while away the hours here, enjoying alfresco breakfasts and sunset drinks aplenty. We love the tiled details in the home too – especially in the green bathroom and behind the kitchenette – as well as the ornate copper fireplace in the master bedroom. Outside of your home, the Giardini Indro Montanelli is just a ten-minute walk away, while the Duomo di Milano is just under thirty minutes from your door. All but a five-minute walk to the Corso Venezia – part of the city's upscale Quadrilatero della moda shopping district – this enviable apartment sits right at the heart of the fashion hubbub. Locally, the surrounding area is lovely, benefitting from calm squares, grand architectural statements, and the historic centre is easy to get to on foot – the Duomo di Milano is a twenty-minute stroll away. Back home, you'll find a bright and roomy living space with light neutral tones, soft thoughtful furnishings, chic replica prints and a stylish Castiglioni lamp. The kitchen is colourful and uplifting, with pops of red, plenty of sunlight coming in through the window and a charming dining spot to enjoy breakfast while planning out the day's trips. The bedrooms have their own personalities, with a children's bunk-bed room that will quickly put the kids at ease.

This is a delightful little apartment in the shadow of the Sforzesco Castle. The sprawling greenery of Sempione Park is right on your doorstep and the Duomo, Royal Palace and Teatro alla Scala are all within a fifteen-minute walk. We love the apartment’s terrace, which is home to all sorts of pot plants and cacti, and a table and chairs for a cold glass of something (there's a dedicated wine fridge inside). The designer sofas and curated collection of coffee table books in the living room are everything you’d expect in Italy’s capital of style. But it’s the ceiling that draws the eye – a slant of white-washed wood beams adding a delightfully rustic touch, and lending itself to make-shift books shelves in every available nook and cranny. Despite the proximity to both the castle and the Brera district (home to cafés, restaurants and luxury fashion boutiques), this place is in a residential block, so you’re guaranteed a little peace and quiet.

There are so many good things about Sailor’s Solace that it’s hard to know where to start. We adore the living room, a place that feels down-to-earth and yet special at the same time – especially when it fills with sunlight. It’s hard not to flop into the hammock as soon as you see it, and even harder to peel yourself away. At this unique home, it's tempting just to stay in, passing the evening on the terrace with a Campari for company.

But when in Milan, there's much to see. And here, you’re close enough to most of the major attractions to walk (and if you weren’t, there’s a station nearby). Start with the medieval Sforzesco Castle, just a ten-minute walk away. The 15th-century structure sits on an expanse of beautifully-manicured gardens – there's even an aquarium, ideal if you're travelling with children. 

From here, wind your way towards the Duomo, stopping for a coffee and cannoli somewhere along the way. The cathedral is like nothing else you've ever seen, constructed from elegant pink marble. 

Sailor's Solace

A small place that punches above its weight, Colour Reversal has been well designed, and that makes a lot of difference. The way that the kitchen fits in with the living room works perfectly from an aesthetic standpoint, and while having the kitchen and the sofa bed in the same room isn’t ideal, we wouldn’t really recommend using that bed anyway. It’s always nice to have the option, however, so we won’t complain.


Colour Reversal

You can admire the views of the city from this home’s balcony, as well as from inside this stylish apartment. This place has a lived-in vibe, so you’ll be sure to feel at home. There’s a well-equipped kitchen to create some Italian cuisine or dine out at the array of restaurants and cafes nearby. Attractions such as the Arch of Peace and Sempione Park are within walking distance as well. The apartment is perfect for a family or friends looking to explore all that Milan has to offer.

The Milanese Boutique

In the heart of Milan's Brera district, this contemporary apartment is perfect for those wanting to drop off their suitcases and head out to explore. Light and bright, there’s even a cosy balcony here – ideal for morning cappuccinos or evening aperitifs. Be prepared that if you’re a party of four, two people will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room here. Still, it’s a small price to pay for this home’s enviable location. Just a short distance away you’ll find Sempione Park, while historic Sforzesco Castle is a must-see in Milan.

What makes Colour Inversion special is hard to put your finger on, but that doesn’t mean it should be disregarded. Everything there is perfectly proportioned, so while it is a very small place (it can technically hold four people, but that would be a stretch), it never feels undersized. It’s also just off Corso Buenos Aires, one of the main shopping streets in the city and a lively spot in general.


Colour Inversion

Bigger isn't always better, and at this stylish home in a particularly nice part of the Scalo di Porta Romana neighbourhood, you'll be enchanted by its clever use of space and chic minimalism. Set on the ground floor, and with a typically high ceiling creating a mezzanine floor for the bedroom, it's dazzlingly white, and filled with fascinating art and quirky furnishings.

The part-time home of a fine arts teacher, it's designed with simplicity and style in mind. We love the sofa made from a base of pallets, along with the comfy dining spot and the practical kitchen. And although the climb up to the bedroom is not for the faint of heart, it's a serene space, perfect for reading. 

Surrounded by shops, cafes and good restaurants, there's more than enough to enjoy on your doorstep. Fondazione Prada, home to a world-famous contemporary art collection is a ten-minute walk from your door. The building itself is a work of art, converted from a century-old distillery into a modern-day marvel. Even the café Bar Luce is something to behold, designed by renowned film director Wes Anderson. But all that said, if it's the big attractions of the city you're after, you're just a six-minute walk from Brenta metro station, and a seven minute walk from Lodi for an easy ride into the centre of town.

Easy Ranger

On the edge of Brera and Garibaldi, Artemis is wonderfully placed for both the nightlife that fills the area, and for getting to other parts of the city. The flat has a sense of individuality to it – the design is sophisticated, with lots of beautiful objects that elevate it beyond what you might reasonably expect from a place of its size. It’s all fairly valuable, so for that reason the host, Rita, would prefer to rent to adults, or at least not young children.
