Situated a short stroll from both the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain, this apartment has a fantastic location for exploring Rome. The Pantheon, the Roman Forum and much more are also within walking distance. There are a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants in the neighbourhood to enjoy too. From this home’s open-plan living space, there are wonderful views of the Basilica of Saint Mary in Cosmedin. You can take in the vistas from the dining table. The kitchen area is quite compact, we would say – there’s no oven, but there’s a hob and a microwave. But, with an address as great as this, will you be spending much time at the apartment?

You'd be hard-pressed to find a better location than this central Rome apartment. The must-sees of Via Veneto, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and Villa Borghese are all just minutes away on foot. Set on the top floor of a historic building, your host has gone above and beyond to ensure you'll have everything you need to settle in. Expect designer details like Italian baths and artisan lamps, antique furniture, and original oil paintings. If you're a full house, it's worth noting that two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living area. Three guests will also share one of the bedrooms, featuring a king-sized bed and a single bed. While this won't suit everyone, we think it could work out great for sharing with family or close friends.

When we say that this home is a stone’s throw from the Trevi Fountain, we really mean it. Or should we say a coin’s throw? Watch where you’re aiming that penny, because this apartment is just steps away from Rome’s most striking water feature. In a quiet lane away from clamouring tourists, this spot has world-famous attractions, but with a local vibe. Stepping in to look around the decor, you notice a delightful mixture of old and new. Keep an eye out for chunky wooden beams, parquet floors, and original masonry as you settle down on antique furniture. Then there’s a somewhat contemporary Scandi look, with minimalist bedspreads, stepped bed frames, and modern, white shelved walls. These shelves are packed with literature and art books. Take your pick from the collection and perch in the study – with its twisted gold column, hardwood furnishings, and vintage typewriter, you’ll feel every bit the European intellectual. A stroll in the immediate neighbourhood will take you to jewellery boutiques and hidden wine bars for a glass of barolo. While there may be lots of sights to tick off around the city, the home invites guests to unwind in pure comfort as the warm, earthy tones and rustic charm throughout, makes for a laid-back ambience worth writing home about. We particularly love dark wooden doors and beams that run across the ceilings – as well as the beautiful stone sink in the master bathroom. Since 1869, the Campo de' Fiori has been a hub of market trading for fresh fruit, vegetables, and flowers. And by evening, this charming square becomes a hub of alfresco dining spots and wine bars. With that in mind, this studio apartment is pretty convenient, at less than a minute away. But if you want to keep busy rather than relaxing with a glass of chianti, you’ll find palaces, museums, and statues all around – such as the Museo di Scultura Antica Giovanni Barracco, two minutes away. However, we feel that this home is somewhat of a landmark itself. As you step inside, you can help but be taken aback by the striking timber ceiling. These thick, rustic beams ooze old-world Italy, transporting you back in time. But with modern twists from minimalist furniture and quirky artworks, there’s an elegant clash of eras which makes this studio feel unique. We love the luxe touches like the marble kitchen sink and bathroom, although your host can provide an even better VIP experience. After being picked up by your private driver from the airport, you might fancy taking up their offer of a wine tasting tour or ride on a classic Vespa.

Parchment Scrolls oozes classical Roman style. There’s a wonderful mix of antique elements, like the ceiling beams or the painted doors, and more modern fittings that give it a sense of balance. It’s also in a fantastic position, in the cobblestone lanes of Ponte, and right opposite the grand Church of San Biagio. All of these blessings manage to outweigh the only real problem, which is the second bathroom. It doesn’t have the best ventilation, and the shower is only 190cm high, but we think that it’s forgivable given the rest of the space.

The Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major, the Roman Forum, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps are all within walking distance too. There’s also a range of pizzerias, trattorias and cafes surrounding this home which has an open-plan living space with a modern kitchen. This room also sleeps two guests on a sofa bed when needed – the apartment is perfect for a city break.

This stylish apartment is right around the corner from Termini, Rome's biggest train station, so there's no doubt that the transport links are excellent. But many of the must-see sights can also be reached on foot, including the magnificent Basilica Papale di Santa Maria Maggiore five minutes away and The Colosseum just a little further, about a twenty-minute stroll. After fueling up on pasta and gelato at Mercato Centrale Roma across the street, set off for the Trevi Fountain, The Pantheon and The Spanish Steps, all reachable in under half an hour. When you're not off exploring, shopping or sipping Italian wine at one of the bars in this area, rest your tired feet back at home. We love the bold green colours and funky design – picture cowhide rugs, vibrant pop art and leafy wallpaper in the bedroom. The bathroom is also one of our favourites – it has a huge walk-in rain shower that's the perfect way to relax after a busy day. And this pad has more than enough room for two, so there's plenty of space to make yourself at home. In the evenings, pour yourself an aperitif and rustle up a feast in the contemporary kitchen, then end the night with Netflix in bed, nodding off while to the sound of your favourite shows.

The apartment itself is a stunningly good find. It’s spacious and bright, decorated in classic Italian style using only the finest furniture. Situated a two-minute walk from Campo de' Fiori, one of Rome’s main piazzas, this apartment is ideal for first-time and frequent travellers alike. The city’s best bits are within walking distance – the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and Roman Forum are around thirty minutes away. While some elements of this home are a little dated, everything functions well, and the place is clean and comfortable. Just a heads up, the street below can get noisy at times, so we recommend packing earplugs if you’re easily awoken.

The high-quality finishes are straight out of a magazine, while those searching for character will appreciate the wooden ceilings dating back to the 1400s. Two single sofa beds offer sleeping space for little ones in the lounge, though we think this pad is best for a couple. As for the location, you'll be based in Trastevere. Known for its bohemian atmosphere, local trattorias, and artisan shops, this neighbourhood is the perfect stomping grounds for those seeking an authentic stay. You're also an easy stroll into the centre if sightseeing is on your to-do list.

You’ll step over the marble tiles of the entrance into a magnificent home filled with art and furniture from the 17th and 18th centuries. The piazza is just a stone’s throw away, and you’ll be a short walk from the likes of the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain. Just perfect.

You can easily blaze a trail to Rome's biggest sights from here, too, including the Colosseo (half-an-hour on foot) and even closer, the Patheon (a fifteen-minute walk). Or ditch the crowds and hop over the bridge to Trastevere's atmospheric alleyways to seek out a nonna-esque trattoria for dinner. 

Back home, this newly renovated apartment feels like the perfect little hideaway after days amongst the city's hustle and bustle. Put your feet up in the light-filled living space – the leafy vistas reaching out to the River Tiber through the dual-aspect windows are a joy. While over in the two boutique-feel bedrooms, guests sharing will love the privacy of the separate ensuite bathrooms. And despite its central location, both rooms feel surprisingly quiet at night, so you can bank a good night's kip here. While for those planning to work or study during your stay, there's a handy desk space in one of the bedrooms with a charming view to boot.

The location of this apartment is great. It’s just a short walk from the Castel Sant'Angelo and Piazza Cavour, home to Italy’s Supreme Court. You can also visit the Vatican, including the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica, which are also within walking distance. There’s a range of eateries in the locale, too, for when you want a rest from sightseeing. The bright open-plan living space back at this apartment also sleeps guests five and six on a comfy sofa bed. The main bedroom has an en-suite, while bedroom two has a small double bed. Your hosts are really helpful here as well – they can arrange a variety of services for you to make your stay in Rome super special.

Milliner has a history as a family home – Olimpia actually grew up here – and as such it’s got a bit of soul to it. It’s been designed to last, and many of the pieces of furniture have a sense of intransigence to them, from the tree boughs to the wicker and the collection of books. The space is slightly lopsided, as most of it feels quite large, but the second bedroom is definitely undersized, but this is really just a quibble. It’s a welcoming, genuine place.

The Duchess is a comfortable place with lots going for it, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t start with that view. A city like Rome is full of views, but even so, this one is special, and the terrace itself is beautiful, with the furniture, the awning and the flowers all around (in summer, at least). This, along with the various antiques inside, makes you feel as if you’re in a Rome that existed 200 years ago, one that’s since been lost. 


The Duchess

In the colourful, bohemian Trastevere district, you’ll find this spacious and light-filled apartment up in the eaves of an old building, between the Piazza di Santa Apollonia and the restless Piazza di Santa Maria. The design of the home is functional and serviceable with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The open-plan living-dining arrangement is great for bigger groups while enjoying Prosecco Negronis before heading out to enjoy a famously unhurried dinner at a local trattoria. You’re just one typically winding Roman street away from the south bank of the River Tiber, where a twenty-minute walk via the Ponte Garibaldi takes you to the iconic Pantheon and a ten-minute car ride places you right in the heart of the Vatican City.

We’ll admit it; an apartment this big in central Rome is a rare find indeed. Add in an attentive host, rooftop views and stylish decor and you know you’re onto a winner. The living area is a social space, perfect for big groups who want to spend time together. White, leather L-shaped sofas create the chill-out lounge and a mulberry-purple kitchen has everything you need to cook up a feast. Bedrooms are a medley of mezzanine spots and private king-size suites. The real boon is you’re looking out over Piazza Sforza Cesarini here, the heart of the action in the central Ponte neighbourhood. A seven-minute walk sees you at the pavement cafés and buzzing bars of Piazza Navona, and the ancient site of the Pantheon is fifteen minutes on foot.
