You will have to climb about 76 steps to reach this apartment and there's a floating staircase without a railing, which won't suit everyone. When you're ready to explore, historical landmarks such as the Cathedral of Palermo are a short walk away, as well as plenty of traditional restaurants and wine bars.

Ideally nestled between the sandy beaches of Mondello and the urban bustle of Palermo, this charming Sicilian apartment offers gorgeous views of the Tyrrhenian. You might be tempted to spend the whole day here, whether preparing local produce in the good sized kitchen or enjoying a cool bath. Then again, with beach huts and boat tours to the north and city nightlife to the south, there's plenty to enjoy beyond this home's pleasing pastel walls.
