Situated a short stroll from both the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain, this apartment has a fantastic location for exploring Rome. The Pantheon, the Roman Forum and much more are also within walking distance. There are a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants in the neighbourhood to enjoy too. From this home’s open-plan living space, there are wonderful views of the Basilica of Saint Mary in Cosmedin. You can take in the vistas from the dining table. The kitchen area is quite compact, we would say – there’s no oven, but there’s a hob and a microwave. But, with an address as great as this, will you be spending much time at the apartment?

You’ll be a short walk from many of the Eternal City’s main attractions, including Piazza del Popolo and Villa Borghese. At full occupancy, privacy is somewhat limited – two guests will sleep on a sofa bed on the open mezzanine above one of the bedrooms.

When we say that this home is a stone’s throw from the Trevi Fountain, we really mean it. Or should we say a coin’s throw? Watch where you’re aiming that penny, because this apartment is just steps away from Rome’s most striking water feature. In a quiet lane away from clamouring tourists, this spot has world-famous attractions, but with a local vibe. Stepping in to look around the decor, you notice a delightful mixture of old and new. Keep an eye out for chunky wooden beams, parquet floors, and original masonry as you settle down on antique furniture. Then there’s a somewhat contemporary Scandi look, with minimalist bedspreads, stepped bed frames, and modern, white shelved walls. These shelves are packed with literature and art books. Take your pick from the collection and perch in the study – with its twisted gold column, hardwood furnishings, and vintage typewriter, you’ll feel every bit the European intellectual. Set in a gorgeous 20th-century building only a five-minute walk from the Piazza di Spagna, this home delivers on location in spades. Spread out over three floors and exquisitely designed throughout, the designers have taken the best of the period architecture (would you look at those gabled ceilings in the main bedroom suite complete with a private terrace) while bringing the rest of the home elegantly into the 21st Century.  

Sunny mornings call for lazy breakfasts on the rooftop terrace – the home’s hidden gem. Cradled by the crumbling ochre facades, it couldn’t feel more Italian. And if you’re impressed with the view now, wait until dusk when the cupolas of the city’s churches light up. It’s the perfect spot for aperitifs – and the well-stocked honesty bar will come in handy for those.

Keep on top of fitness with the indoor spin bike, then reward yourself with a hydro-massage bath. And for those combining work and play in the city, a dedicated desk space with views of the sunny shared courtyard downstairs should do nicely.

It can't get more central than this – you'll be within walking distance of the Trevi Fountain, Villa Borghese, and countless eateries. The overall design is contemporary and chic, featuring open-concept bathrooms that ooze luxury (though privacy is, of course, limited). Travelling as a group of six? Upon request, two guests can kip on single beds in the living area, but we think this home is best for four.

Everything about Kalos Charm feels luxurious, from the velvet upholstery to the elegant bathrooms. And while it’s a decent size, and can hold four people, Maurizio and Fabio have a few other places in the same building, so a larger group could look into renting out more than one at a time.

In most cities, paintings dating back to the seventeenth century are typically looked at from a safe distance in museums and galleries, but in a place like Rome, it's not unusual to live among historic artefacts. Take this studio apartment in the middle of Colonna, the famous shopping district. The building dates back to the seventeenth century and the remains of a fresco from that time have been preserved by the architect on one of the walls. Aside from that, the interior design is heavily influenced by mid-century trends, from the Art Deco crockery in the kitchen and the boldly patterned chairs to the Art Nouveau-inspired mirrors in the bathroom. If your four-century-old home has got you in the mood to see more of the city's illustrious heritage, you're in luck as the central location is excellent. You can walk to Trevi Fountain in seven minutes, while the Pantheon can be seen in just under ten.

This home's location is ideal – it's just a short walk from both, while the Colosseum is also within walking distance (with comfy shoes). Of course, with such a central location, you're probably going to hear some street noise back at this apartment. We love the beautiful frescoes on the ceilings and the retro photos of celebrities adorning the walls. At full capacity, one guest will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room, so this place might be best for a couple if you don't want to compromise on socialising space.

Sip a negroni cocktail on this home's private terrace right in front of Piazza Del Popolo, with its stunning panoramic views of Rome's historical heart – this is la dolce vita. Inside there are more of those inspiring views of the Eternal City to admire – they stopped us in our tracks when we visited – they look like paintings. The classic style living space has lovely polished wood floors, a feature fireplace and an ornate galleried landing. This home is ideal for a couple, business professional or family of three.

Piazza del Popolo is a mere one-minute stroll from this home, or head to Terrazza del Pincio (four minutes on foot) – this 19th-century terrace with its fountains has fabulous views over to St. Peter's Basilica. It's the same walking distance to Villa Borghese Gardens, while Villa Medici is just over a ten-minute walk. Other attractions include the Spanish Steps, a twelve-minute saunter, and the Trevi Fountain, a twenty-minute amble.




Eternal City Painting

With its close proximity to some of Rome’s most iconic landmarks and cultural sites, this one-bedroom apartment truly emphasises the importance of location, location, location. Set on the ground floor of its building, it’s also convenient and comfortable too – lounge on the sofa after a long day of walking, or play some cards at the small table. While the kitchenette is lacking some appliances, the restaurant and cafe options in the surrounding area more than make up it. After your morning coffee, amble over to the Spanish Steps, both around ten minutes away by foot.

Roman Contemporary

Located in a narrow street between Piazza di Spagna and Piazza Navona, Kalos is a great home if you want to explore Rome on foot. The insides of this home are immaculate and in spite of mixing several different styles, they create an atmosphere of comfort and luxury. You'll get a beautiful view of the city's skyline from the windows, and if you like an alfresco coffee in the morning, Kalos boasts not one, but two balconies. Take note –three of the five guests will be sleeping in the master bedroom without privacy between the two beds.

With a wonderful central location close to some of the many highlights of magical Roma, including bustling Piazza Navona, the iconic Spanish Steps, the awe-inspiring Pantheon and the ever-popular Campo de' Fiori area, this home is perfect for those who want the best of both worlds – to be right in the thick of things whilst still enjoying some peace and quiet. Cosy, comfortable, and equipped with all you could need for a lovely, laid-back stay, this thoughtfully-finished home feels funky and inviting – and offers the perfect place to return to after a day of experiencing the golden moments of the eternal city.

Marigold Moments

When we saw this grand home in the heart of Rome, we were in total awe. The classic Italianate interiors are utter joy, with exquisite antique furniture and oil paintings from the host's family homes in Puglia and Sardinia. Large windows with original shutters look out over pretty Via Bocca di Leone off Via Borgognona, with its luxury boutiques. Entertain in style at the large dining table under the light of the crystal chandelier. Or get some rest in the bedroom painted in a rich Pompeian red – if you’re not feeling sleepy, there’s a library here with a variety of books on art and literature to leaf through. Another bedroom has French doors onto a small balcony, filled with plants, with a view onto the internal courtyard – ideal for breakfast in bed before exploring this charismatic city. This location is fantastic –  it’s just a three-minute walk to the Spanish Steps and a ten-minute saunter to the stunning Trevi Fountain, while a range of sublime restaurants are right on your doorstep. You’d be hard-pressed to find better.


Lion's Pride

It doesn’t get more central than this fuss-free apartment. You’ll be moments from the Spanish Steps, so close you can actually glimpse the monument's tower from the small Romeo and Juliet balcony. While it's not the most modern home, we think it works well for couples. Two guests will sleep on a sofa bed, while the others will kip on the mezzanine underneath the rustic beams. The kitchen is compact but well-appointed, though it’s best suited to antipasti rather than full meals. For those who want to spend most of their time sightseeing, it’s a good option.

Sweet Juliette

Behind the Spanish Steps and Piazza del Popolo, The Roman Civetta is all about its location. The little square outside is utterly beautiful – as characteristic an example as you’ll find in the entire city, and despite the crowds nearby, it’s surprisingly peaceful, even out on the terrace. Walk to one of Rome's most beloved sights, Trevi Fountain, in just fifteen short minutes, before returning home for a refreshing glass of vino. Stepping back inside, you'll notice rustic wooden ceilings, tasteful paintings, and elegant furnishings that make for a traditional and homely feel around the apartment. Sink into a sleek ghost chair around the stunning glass dining table, delve into a bowl of pasta, and hear the sounds of the world's most ancient city through the open balcony doors. Speaking of, round off a lovely day spent sightseeing with a game of cards on your sheltered terrace, while looking out to charming rooftop views. 

The Roman Civetta

This cute little apartment sits on the Via del Corso in the very centre of Rome. Its neighbours are luxury shops and buzzing pavement cafés, and you’re just a five-minute walk from the Spanish Steps here. Or, follow the Via del Corse five minutes in the other direction to reach the lively square of Pizza del Popolo, lined with cafés and home to a weekly book market.

The apartment is a medley of old and new, with a flatscreen TV sitting above a classic fireplace and gallery-white walls. Gilded mirrors and herringbone floors add a touch of class and the kitchen is a sleek vision of modernity for cooking at home. Our favourite spot has to be the terrace, sheltered by Rome’s historic buildings and set up with bistro tables for cocktails outside.
