It’s easy to see the lengths that your host, Luca has gone to with this home to really bring a snug studio space alive—it’s full of interesting details which simultaneously stand alone and work in harmony to tie the place together. From the textured, botanical print wallpaper to the gold sunburst mirror and vitalising forest green accents, its quirkiness fits in well with the local area, famous for its individuality and bohemian spirit. Your next-door neighbour is pretty interesting too, you share a wall with the 600-year-old Church of Sant'Agata—fortunately, the bells no longer ring so you can indulge in plenty of lie-ins. Take to the meandering cobblestone streets where colourful buildings give way to wide-open piazzas and wandering side streets filled with rustic bars and authentic trattorias. What’s more, some of the city’s best attractions, like the Colosseum, Marcello Theatre and the Spada Gallery, are well within a thirty-minute walk from your Roman bolthole.

Set within a handsome 19th-century building in the neighbourhood of Testaccio, this apartment offers an authentic slice of Roman life. Step outside and you'll find traditional trattorias and markets on your doorstep, while the city centre is a scenic thirty-minute stroll away. Back home, the apartment has a warm, homely feel, with book-lined shelves and windows that look out over the Tiber River on one side and a leafy internal courtyard on the other – a peaceful contrast to the buzz of the city beyond. 

Heart of Testaccio

There are 'holiday homes' and holiday 'homes' – while the first functions as little more than a bed for the night, the second offers you a chance to experience a more authentic, everyday experience in your destination of choice. Of course, there are places you could stay closer to the most famous tourist sights, but here you have the chance to get stuck into real Roman life. Testaccio is the historic home of Rome's slaughterhouses. Once upon a time, its distinctive offal-based cuisine was served out of necessity. Nowadays, it has been elevated to a gourmet delicacy. For lunch, walk ten minutes to Trentatre, a chic cafeteria-style restaurant that serves up wholesome, seasonal dishes at incredibly competitive prices. For food on the go, pick up a trapizzino – a pizza pocket stuffed with sweetmeats. Alternatively, grab a seat at Checchino Dal 1887. Nowhere better represents the area than this six-generation family-owned and operated eatery. If the local cuisine inspires you, it’s easy to imagine yourself swanning through the local food markets and chatting to the vendors before whipping up dinner in the flat. With its innovative trattorias and cool craft breweries, a short five-minute walk to trendy Trastevere offers an entirely different atmosphere. And if you do need to get to the centre, it’s just a few stops on the metro.


Take Flight

This city centre apartment is located in prestigious Via Capo le Case. You’ll find traditional taverns, historic cafes, and artisan ice cream parlours in the neighbourhood, as well as luxury boutiques. And when it comes to sightseeing, the Pantheon, and Trevi Fountain are within a ten-minute stroll. Back home, you’ll find everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a living room with large windows which make the place lovely and light – at full occupancy this is where guests three and four will sleep. We think this pad is perfect for a couple or solo traveller wanting to stay in the heart of the capital.

The location, on an enchanting street between Piazza Navona and the Spanish Steps, feels brilliantly Roman, while in the home, vintage stylings meet modern comforts in elegant fashion. Muted blocks of colour give the living room an artsy edge, with wood floors, tall ceilings and atlas-inspired art adding to its sophisticated feel. We love the kitchen’s black and white tiles that contrast beautifully with its red walls and stone floors, while the blush coloured bedroom is pretty as a picture. It’s a treat to wake up here, especially when you open up the French doors that lead out onto a scenic private balcony. Sit here amongst the vines with your morning coffee while gazing out onto Rome’s rooftops, then lace up your walking shoes for a stroll around the city. Piazza Navona is just a three-minute walk away, while The Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps are reachable in ten. After a day of exploring, choose one of the countless local trattorias for a delicious dinner, then come back home to your balcony for a spritz to end the night.

Find yourselves right in the thick of the action as soon as you leave your door, with the Piazza Navona and Campo de Fiori close by, and the iconic Pantheon just down the street. When you’ve had your fill of sightseeing, kick off your shoes and climb into the cosy bed, or have a coffee outside in the courtyard.

Pantheon Charm

You’ll find this apartment set back from the bustle of the inner city in the authentic Testaccio district. Take a stroll over to the famous Testaccio Market or the Tiber River (it's just across the road), or dive into one of the nearby trattorias and cafes to mingle with the locals. The Piramide Metro station is just a short stroll away, too, for when it’s time to explore Rome’s other must-sees. Back home, don’t be fooled by the historic building's exterior. Inside, this home has been converted to make a great practical base. Bedrooms are light-filled thanks to those period windows, and there’s  a living room for quiet evenings in. 

From Testaccio, With Love

Sitting on the right-hand side of the Tiber, the neighbourhood of Trastevere is an inimitable mix of history and character, much like this apartment. The building in which it sits dates back to the 14th century, although you wouldn't be able to guess that age from the fresh design of the interior.

In the main living space, a colour palette of neutrals makes the room feel bright and inviting, while there are brighter tones in the bedrooms that lend a sense of personality. When it comes to dinners, guests are treated to two kitchen spaces — a wooden-panelled room that doubles up as a dining area and an adjoining room with an induction cooker.

If rather than cooking, however, you fancy familiarising yourself with Roman cuisine, there's a huge choice of restaurants in the surrounding area. The city's famous attractions are not too far away, either — the Pantheon takes just over a quarter of an hour on foot to reach, while the Colosseum takes about double that.

Right in the heart of colourful Trastevere, this bright and breezy apartment puts you within easy reach of Rome’s iconic sights.
