You'll find this apartment fifteen minutes on foot from St. Peter's Basilica. As well as being a thirty-minute walk from the historic city centre, it's close to the parklands of Villa Pamphili – ideal for long strolls and morning jogs. When you're not exploring the Eternal City, take advantage of the terrace back home. There's no better spot to nurse a glass of Italian wine and watch the sunset. Inside, the contemporary design marries perfectly with the traditional craftsmanship. Even with two guests on a sofa bed, we think it's a great option for a Roman getaway.

Aura of Aurelio

Even though it’s actually quite new, Vintage Rosa feels like it could be from the 50s (can you tell from the name?). In a good way, that is – it has a great balance of the old-fashioned aesthetic and modern fittings, so you won’t be stuck with sixty-year-old kitchen appliances. The whole building is run in the space between a hotel and a block of flats, as there’s more than enough to keep you independent, but you also get some extra services included, like cleaning every other day, and a reception during working hours.


Vintage Rosa

There isn’t much that’s more Italian than a Vespa, and Farobasso has two of them. These are the most eye-catching vintage objects in the apartment, but there are many more - the host has tied the theme together nicely. The entire place has been recently redone, and you can tell from the excellent condition it’s in - the bathrooms in particular feel spotless. However, Farobasso is a way out of the historic centre. It might be well-placed to visit the Vatican, but to get to the Trevi fountain, or the Colosseum, you might be tempted to commandeer one of the scooters.


Farobasso

This apartment is a comfortable home-from-home in Rome. It stands slightly removed from the crowds of tourists in the centre of the city, but you can still easily see the sights using public transport. The apartment is close to the Vatican City and Villa Doria Pamphili, the largest landscaped public park in Rome – it’s a wonderful spot for a picnic lunch and a stroll. The apartment is equipped with everything you might need, including a desk for those working remotely and a bunk-bed room for little ones. We love the patio, which boasts far-reaching views of the rooftops of Rome. 

Roman Rustic

Settle into Roman life at this superb first-floor apartment. This stylish home can be found in the Aurelio neighbourhood of Rome, away from the hectic crowds of the city centre, but still plenty close enough to see the sights. The Baldo degli Ubaldi metro station is 500 metres away, and there’s a bus stop 350 metres away. It takes just seven minutes to reach the Vatican, and eighteen minutes to drive to the Colosseum. The apartment is bright and welcoming, with leafy views that make it a relaxing space to call home. 

The Roman Violet

Sitting just north of Vatican City and Rome’s Prati neighbourhood, this colourful apartment offers an ideal base from which to explore the area’s most famous sights. 

Laid out over two floors and bursting with vibrant shades of yellow, red and blue, this stylish base invites sociable mornings around the table – over fresh espressos and locally bought pastries – and chilled out evenings on the sofa, a glass of Italian wine in hand. The bedrooms have been stylishly curated with funky feature walls and comfortable beds, while the pair of bathrooms with their plethora of plants ensure mornings get off without a hitch ahead of a busy day of sightseeing. 

Speaking of exploring, make a beeline for upscale Prati with its high-end boutiques, alfresco wine bars and gourmet restaurants, and discover the historic Castel Sant'Angelo, 1 kilometre away. You’re also just 750 metres from Vatican City where St. Peter's Basilica and the iconic Sistine Chapel are sure to impress. 



Moda Gialla

Nestled in the heart of Rome, you’ll find many of the city’s top attractions within easy reach of this home. The nearest major hotspot is the Vatican City and its array of museums, only a short walk from the apartment. And with the Ottaviano Metro spot just six minutes away on foot, hopping around the city is easy. Inside, you’ll find a comfortable space to relax and a handy kitchenette suitable for preparing light bites. The dining table also doubles up as a laptop-friendly workspace for those travelling for business. Just note that two people will be sleeping on the sofa bed if you’re here in a group of four. 

An Ode to Delia

The Vatican is so close you can see the dome of St Peter’s Basilica from the balcony of this apartment. In ten minutes on foot, you can be admiring the endless museums and world-famous Sistine Chapel of the world’s smallest country. 

The apartment itself has a spacious, open-plan living area which is kept bright and light with pure white walls. Vibrant modern artworks add a lively pop of colour at every turn, and the slate-grey sofa sings with neon cushions. The full kitchen in fire-engine-red has everything you need to whip up breakfast, lunch and dinner. In our opinion, the best spot for an evening aperitivo is the private balcony which has an enviable view of St Peter’s Basilica, whose dome rises out from the shambling rooftops and is illuminated at sunset. 

Saint Peter's View

Finding a high-style penthouse apartment this close to the Vatican and St. Peter's Basilica is one thing. But to bag yourself a place with an all-too-rare rooftop terrace to boot? Now you're onto a winner.

Inside, this luxurious bolthole hides a few surprises too. Alongside sleek architectural treasures (would you look at those marble-clad walls), you'll also discover some showstopping frescos nodding to the Renaissance era. While a chromotherapy hot tub bath and sauna shower are firmly planted in the 21st century. 

Start your morning on the sunny veranda with freshly brewed coffees and the papers, then hop in the hot tub to kick start your day. Once you're spick and span and ready to hit Rome's streets, blaze a trail to the Vatican and St. Peter's Basilica, just a three-kilometre walk away, or just a smidge further, the mighty Colosseum. Or, for a more authentic taste of Roman city life, keep things local in the Aurelio neighborhood with an amble through Rome's largest park, Villa Doria Pamphili (just 900 metres away) – a local's favourite place to escape the city noise and bustle. Then dive into the countless bars and pizzerias dotted about the streets of Aurelio – you'll be in for a warm welcome.

Affresco Paradiso

Ideal for a couple or solo traveller seeking to explore the Eternal City away from the tourist crowds, this stylish apartment is an ideal choice for its style, locale and generous outdoor space. 

Boasting a large private terrace equipped with a table and chairs for alfresco dining, this is the perfect spot for espressos and pastries each morning ahead of a day of sightseeing, or a celebratory glass of Italian wine in the evening before setting out to sample one of the local trattorias. 

Inside, the apartment has been cleverly designed to maximise its space, with a comfy seating area that beckons chats over board games or lounging with one of the books from the shelves, as well as a mezzanine bedroom inviting a restful night’s sleep. With a petite kitchenette as well as a sleek, modern bathroom, you’ve got everything you need for a carefree city stay. 

When it comes to exploring, make a beeline for the Vatican where Saint Peter's Basilica takes centre stage, or hop on the Metro at nearby Baldo Degli Ubaldi to discover the countless historic sights in Rome’s buzzing centre. 

Amanti

Set on one of the main thoroughfares of Prati, this home has a fantastic location, with the Vatican Museums just over ten minutes away on foot. It's the same walking distance to the boutiques in Via Cola di Rienzo, as well as the Trionfale Market with its food and flower stalls. If you want to explore some more of Rome's well-known attractions, take a twenty-minute stroll to Castel Sant'Angelo, with its rooftop views over the city. Back at this home – it's comfortable and well-designed, with a calming colour scheme that is just what you need after a hectic day exploring the city. Enjoy a cup of coffee on the balcony or catch up on some work if need be (it's fully equipped for remote working). However, what really sets it apart is the host Angela, whose willingness to go the extra mile can help ensure you have a truly great experience. 

Cornflower Lanes

It's hard to imagine a better location for this smart studio apartment, set equidistance between Rome's majestic Vatican City and the upmarket streets of the Prati district. Get off to a flying start with a coffee to go and a stroll around the Vatican's Museums (eleven minutes on foot) to marvel at some of Italy's most revered artworks. When thoughts turn to food, the bustling streets of Prati (twelve minutes on foot) will easily deliver tasty tapas and a glass of something chilled. Then hop over the river to discover Rome's historic centre (half an hour on foot) – or there's a metro station just three minutes from your door if you'd rather give your feet a rest. And when it's time to escape the crowds, take to the green hills of Parco di Monte Ciocci (ten minutes on foot) to admire panoramic views of St. Peter's Basilica – best seen at sunset. Back at home, while this fresh, modern apartment may be compact, we think it's rather perfectly formed. There's all you could need for a bolthole in the city, including a sleek kitchen space for firing up the coffee pod machine and rustling up some breakfast. And a sparkling white bathroom with a rainfall shower to kick start another day of adventure in The Eternal City.
