Situated a short stroll from both the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain, this apartment has a fantastic location for exploring Rome. The Pantheon, the Roman Forum and much more are also within walking distance. There are a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants in the neighbourhood to enjoy too. From this home’s open-plan living space, there are wonderful views of the Basilica of Saint Mary in Cosmedin. You can take in the vistas from the dining table. The kitchen area is quite compact, we would say – there’s no oven, but there’s a hob and a microwave. But, with an address as great as this, will you be spending much time at the apartment?

Known for its bohemian atmosphere, local trattorias, and artisan shops, this neighbourhood is the perfect stomping grounds for those seeking an authentic stay. When we say that this home is a stone’s throw from the Trevi Fountain, we really mean it. Or should we say a coin’s throw? Watch where you’re aiming that penny, because this apartment is just steps away from Rome’s most striking water feature. In a quiet lane away from clamouring tourists, this spot has world-famous attractions, but with a local vibe. Stepping in to look around the decor, you notice a delightful mixture of old and new. Keep an eye out for chunky wooden beams, parquet floors, and original masonry as you settle down on antique furniture. Then there’s a somewhat contemporary Scandi look, with minimalist bedspreads, stepped bed frames, and modern, white shelved walls. These shelves are packed with literature and art books. Take your pick from the collection and perch in the study – with its twisted gold column, hardwood furnishings, and vintage typewriter, you’ll feel every bit the European intellectual. Situated in Rome’s Campo de' Fiori, this apartment is ideal for those who want a base with all the necessary comforts but aren't too concerned about frills. That said, the private terrace is pretty wow, with a lounge area, dining area and sweeping city views. We like the traditional features, but you might find the kitchen and bathrooms a little dated. What sold us on this pad was the terrace, the enclosed patio, and the central location – from here, you’re a short walk from the Pantheon and the Roman Forum, while you’ll find plenty of trattorias, neighbourhood bars and little cafes just off your doorstep.

Looking for a central stay in the Eternal City? This apartment sure fits the bill. You'll find it just a short walk from Piazza Navona, putting landmarks, shops, and restaurants at your fingertips. At full capacity, five guests will be on a collection of sofa beds in both the living area and bedroom. If you'd prefer privacy, we think a guest count of four is best. Still, the rustic design is packed with character, and the super convenient location more than makes up for its compact layout.

Set right in the heart of Rome’s historic centre and housed in an ancient palazzo of high and mighty proportions, this place feels more like an Italian residence than a city bolthole – and we couldn’t love it more.

Spread out over three floors and exquisitely designed throughout, the designers have taken the best of the period architecture (would you look at those gabled ceilings in the main bedroom suite complete with a private terrace) while bringing the rest of the home elegantly into the 21st Century.  

Sunny mornings call for lazy breakfasts on the rooftop terrace – the home’s hidden gem. Cradled by the crumbling ochre facades, it couldn’t feel more Italian. And if you’re impressed with the view now, wait until dusk when the cupolas of the city’s churches light up. It’s the perfect spot for aperitifs – and the well-stocked honesty bar will come in handy for those.

Keep on top of fitness with the indoor spin bike, then reward yourself with a hydro-massage bath. And for those combining work and play in the city, a dedicated desk space with views of the sunny shared courtyard downstairs should do nicely. 

When it’s time to set off exploring, take your pick from the must-see sights surrounding the elegant Campo Marzio district. The Pantheon, Spanish Steps, and the Trevi Fountain are all less than a ten-minute walk – or a smidge longer with pitstops for pizza al taglio and gelato along the way.

Just around the corner from the Spanish Steps, this plush little apartment is the perfect getaway to Rome. Walk just two minutes and you’re on Via Condotti, with its famed luxury shops and boutiques, running all the way to the Piazza di Spagna. You’re also within easy walking distance of the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and buzzing Piazza Navona. 

Apart from its super central location, this apartment has lots going for it. Natural light fills the living room from traditional old windows. From here, you can watch the world go by on your classically Roman street. Herringbone floors and high ceilings keep things feeling grand, and the palette of greys and teals makes for a soothing spot to return to after a day in the city. We love the enclosed balcony, where a dining area is surrounded on all sides by glass – the perfect sunny breakfast spot. There’s also a tiny terrace that catches rays of sunshine in the middle of the day, painted sunshine-yellow and set up with a bistro table.

Any discussion of Savannah has to start with the roof terrace, a little rectangle of serenity nestled in the rooftops of Trastevere. There is furniture up there and even a canopy, so you can relax while hiding from the midday sun. The interior is simple but charming, with a working fireplace in the living room - perfect for those cosy winter nights. The bathroom is a little basic - especially if it’s being shared by four - and it’s worth noting that there is no lift in the building, but otherwise Savannah is a lovely base in Rome's most bohemian neighbourhood.

Set in a gorgeous 20th-century building only a five-minute walk from the Piazza di Spagna, this home delivers on location in spades. You're surrounded by mouth-watering restaurants, traditional cafes and upscale shops, not to mention all the museums, landmarks (including The Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain) and galleries within walking distance. Spend an afternoon wandering Rome's cobbled streets before enjoying an aperitif at one of the trendy bars in this neighbourhood. When you've had your fun for the day, retreat home to this bright and roomy apartment. Inside, it's uncluttered and minimal, which only enhances the relaxing atmosphere. Our favourite spot is the long balcony, which is shaded from the Italian sun by a leafy trellis. Sit out there in the evenings with a glass of wine and admire the views before unwinding with a soak in the lush deep bathtub.

At this Prati penthouse, exploring Rome is a breeze. The Vatican Museums are 700 metres away, St. Peter's Basilica is a fifteen-minute stroll, and the nearest metro station is five minutes on foot. You'll find plenty of wine bars and trendy eateries nearby, too. Back home, the contemporary living area has a double sofa bed for two. A well-appointed kitchen is ideal for rustling up breakfast before heading out. Though the second bedroom and both showers are a little snug, we think the location more than makes up for it.

This apartment boasts an unbeatable location in Rome, just above Piazza Barberini. Staying in such a central spot means you’ll be within walking distance of many of Rome’s most iconic attractions – the Trevi Fountain is only a few minutes away. You’ll also be perfectly placed to hit the shops. This is an excellent base for a family, with interconnected rooms and an open-plan living, dining, and kitchen space. Heavy packers, be warned – there are quite a few stairs to tackle here. 

Barberini Bliss

You’ll find this charming apartment on the narrow, atmospheric Via dei Coronari (officially one of the world’s ten most beautiful streets), right in Rome’s historic centre. It’s just a two-minute stroll to buzzing Piazza Navona where cafés and restaurants spill out onto to pavement and ancient fountains still trickle away. Just across the River Tiber, a fifteen-minute walk takes you to the endless museums and Sistine Chapel at The Vatican. Housed in a building dating back to the 1500s, this apartment still radiates old-world charm which can immediately be felt by the 19th-century aedicule at the entrance. The wooden coffered ceiling and herringbone floor harks back to a bygone age and gilded mirrors and antique furnishings complete the feeling that you’ve stepped into an opulent home in the 19th century. Though it may seem like you’re staying in a museum, the practicalities have been thought of as well, with a full kitchen for your morning espresso, and comfy sofas around the flatscreen TV in the lounge.

If you’re in search of a well connected Roman holiday, this apartment delivers the perfect solution.  Located in the heart of the city, you’ll find it’s just a short stroll to Castel Sant’Angelo, the Vatican and Piazza Navona. You’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to restaurants, bars and shops. Plus there are great public transport links – making it easy to explore further afield. The apartment sits in a historic palazzo and has a wonderful sense of character. It’s also a great option for families with the handy addition of a sofa bed in the living room.

It can't get more central than this – you'll be within walking distance of the Trevi Fountain, Villa Borghese, and countless eateries. The overall design is contemporary and chic, featuring open-concept bathrooms that ooze luxury (though privacy is, of course, limited). Travelling as a group of six? Upon request, two guests can kip on single beds in the living area, but we think this home is best for four.

We like being in the thick of things on a city break, so this Roman home immediately caught our eye. It’s just a few minutes from the iconic Trevi Fountain, and a short walk from the Pantheon and the Roman Forum – it’s not difficult to see the sights of Rome from this base. When you’re not out and about, you’ll surely love having such an elegant space to call home. There’s plenty of space, whether you spend your downtime cooking in the kitchen or lounging under the skylight surrounded by antiques.

Nestled in the heart of Rome, this apartment is all about the location. It’s just a short walk to the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Spanish Steps, and the Trevi Fountain – all of the city's must-see sights. That said, while the traditional style may not be everyone’s cup of tea and some areas could benefit from a refresh, we love the added extras here. The living room projector promises an authentic movie night experience, while the terrace is just the spot to enjoy an evening aperitif. There's even a desk in the loft if you're in town on business. Just keep in mind the third bedroom is very small, so a maximum of five adults are allowed.

The Botanical Garden of Rome, the Gallerie Nazionali di Arte Antica and the Ponte Sisto are a short walk away. You'll also find plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. So that's the location – what about the apartment? Well, first of all, there's a courtyard garden, perfect for a glass of wine after all that sightseeing. We also love that the main bedroom opens out onto the patio and that both bedrooms are en-suite. The second bedroom has a desk, too, if you need to catch up on emails while in Rome. This home is ideal for leisure or business travellers.

Note that you'll need to climb stairs to reach the entrance of this home. However, there's plenty of space to relax, and a sofa bed to accommodate groups of up to four guests. You'll also find a table if you need to work from home. The kitchen lacks an oven, but that said, the area is renowned for its culinary delights, so we reckon you'll be out sampling the local eateries most evenings.

Libraries might be out of fashion, but they’ll always hold a special place in our heart. And a home library like La Politica Dell'Autore’s doesn’t come around every day. It’s kind of spectacular, with bookcases lining the entire living room, making the space feel a little bit magical. The small terrace, practically overflowing with plants complements that feeling. The kitchen, unfortunately, is a bit basic, but luckily there are plenty of restaurants in Prati, so you’ll just have to go and sample the local cuisine.

This apartment is in an ideal location for culture vultures. It’s a fifteen-minute walk to the myriad museums and galleries of the Vatican and five minutes to the ancient Castel Sant’Angelo. The streets around buzz with local trattoria and pizzerias and, after sunset, the wine bars chatter to life. With all that activity on your doorstep, you’ll want a soothing haven to return to, and this pristine white apartment is exactly that. Pot plants, tapestry art and a raw wood dining table are natural accents against the otherwise pure white motif and built-in bookshelves show off a precise collection of global trinkets. Long, typically Roman windows flood the place with sunlight making it a joy to wake up and enjoy another day in the Italian capital.

The home itself is located in a 1930s building, complete with an original Art Deco entrance hall, overlooking an inner courtyard. We love the mix of period features and contemporary decor here. We think this city pad is a great choice for anyone wanting a quieter base with easy access to Rome’s must-see sights.

Centrally located in the eternal city of Rome, this home is a mere stone's throw from several iconic landmarks, including the Ponte Sisto, where you can overlook the Tiber. And some of those sights you might even spot from the balcony, though when it comes to the outdoor seating, we prefer the patio table in the shade of the pergola. As for the home, the rustic charm of the rafters and furnishings is sweet and well-kept. It's worth noting that despite being spacious, this home's sleeping arrangements feature a double sofa bed and another room with two single sofa beds that might be more suitable for children. With two other double beds available, however, it's the ideal pad for a family getaway.

Perched next to the synagogue and the river, Luogo d’Olive is right at the heart of the old Jewish quarter. It’s full of designer furniture, from the Mangiarotti dining table to the Stilnovo chandelier, and this gives it a sense of luxury. However, the abundance of natural light stops any of the design from feeling too heavy or overwhelming, which is always a bit of a risk when decking out a flat with such high-end things.

In most cities, paintings dating back to the seventeenth century are typically looked at from a safe distance in museums and galleries, but in a place like Rome, it's not unusual to live among historic artefacts. Take this studio apartment in the middle of Colonna, the famous shopping district. The building dates back to the seventeenth century and the remains of a fresco from that time have been preserved by the architect on one of the walls. Aside from that, the interior design is heavily influenced by mid-century trends, from the Art Deco crockery in the kitchen and the boldly patterned chairs to the Art Nouveau-inspired mirrors in the bathroom. If your four-century-old home has got you in the mood to see more of the city's illustrious heritage, you're in luck as the central location is excellent. You can walk to Trevi Fountain in seven minutes, while the Pantheon can be seen in just under ten.

In the heart of Monti, this apartment puts you a five-minute walk from the Roman Forum and ten from the Colosseum. Alongside historic monuments, you'll also have excellent restaurants and lively bars on your doorstep. It can get a bit noisy here, but we think the views of Curia Julia and quintessentially Roman streets make up for it. The apartment itself veers towards practicality, with its small kitchenette, sofa bed for two, and lack of a washing machine. Still, it's comfortable and cosy – and the location speaks for itself.

Monti Magic

The Duchess is a comfortable place with lots going for it, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t start with that view. A city like Rome is full of views, but even so, this one is special, and the terrace itself is beautiful, with the furniture, the awning and the flowers all around (in summer, at least). This, along with the various antiques inside, makes you feel as if you’re in a Rome that existed 200 years ago, one that’s since been lost. 


The Duchess

A picture of elegance, this apartment is a superb base in Rome. It’s centrally located, housed in a 19th-century building on Via del Corso, a short walk from iconic sights like the Trevi Fountain and Castel Sant’Angelo. The apartment is refined and luxurious, with touches of marble, terracotta, and oak throughout. One of the two living rooms overlooks the terrace, a splendid spot for an evening cocktail. The well-equipped kitchen has everything you might need to cook for yourselves, though there are plenty of excellent restaurants nearby if you’re not a keen chef.
