And some of those sights you might even spot from the balcony, though when it comes to the outdoor seating, we prefer the patio table in the shade of the pergola. As for the home, the rustic charm of the rafters and furnishings is sweet and well-kept. It's worth noting that despite being spacious, this home's sleeping arrangements feature a double sofa bed and another room with two single sofa beds that might be more suitable for children. With two other double beds available, however, it's the ideal pad for a family getaway.

The Pantheon, Campo dei Fiori, and Vatican are all within ten minutes of this delightful home. Look forward to 1800s parquet flooring and high, beamed ceilings, along with a cosy living space with views of Rome. Bright and comfortable, this apartment is suitable for long stays.

This apartment is truly in the heart of Rome. A five-minute walk from Piazza Navona and moments away from Campo de' Fiori, this is the place to be if sightseeing is at the top of your to-do list. You'll find plenty to see and do within walking distance, be it shops and eateries or must-visit landmarks. The apartment is on the second floor and lacks a lift, so you'll have to be comfortable climbing stairs. That said, we think it's a great find. A roomy living area provides ample space to relax, dine together, and even work from home. Just note that the second bedroom is a little snug, making it more suitable for one guest.

Just a few steps away from the hive of activity that is the Campo de’ Fiori square and its market lies Starry Eyes, a spread-out apartment with ample space for large groups of friends and friends. Brightly lit, the tall windows overlooking Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Piazza San Pantaleo let in plenty of light throughout the day and fill the space with fresh air. Step out onto the corner balcony as you sip your morning coffee and watch the world go by. We particularly love the antique dining table – be sure to share an Italian feast of dreams when it comes to mealtimes. Despite the home's central location, you'll find peace and quiet here, making it the perfect escape to return to after a day of pizza-fuelled sightseeing. Having said that, you won't have to venture far to discover the treasures of Rome – as you'll be stationed just 500 metres away from Piazza Navona and 600 metres away from the Pantheon.

Still, the rustic design is packed with character, and the super convenient location more than makes up for its compact layout.

This apartment can be found in the Jewish Quarter, a beautiful neighbourhood with a rich history. Walking just a few steps from the front door, you’ll find yourself exploring 2000-year-old ruins. Amid the fascinating historical sights, you’ll also have your pick of excellent eateries here – you’re never far from your next great meal in Rome. This lovely home also makes for a great base for exploring the rest of the city – you’re right in the thick of things, so you can easily visit all of Rome’s hotspots on foot. Trastevere and its fabulous nightlife are just a few minutes' walk, as are Piazza Venezia and Piazza Navona.

The apartment itself is a stunningly good find. It’s spacious and bright, decorated in classic Italian style using only the finest furniture. There’s something to admire in every corner, whether it’s the pull-down cocktail bar in the living room, or the antique wooden beams. So that's the location – what about the apartment? Well, first of all, there's a courtyard garden, perfect for a glass of wine after all that sightseeing. We also love that the main bedroom opens out onto the patio and that both bedrooms are en-suite. The second bedroom has a desk, too, if you need to catch up on emails while in Rome. This home is ideal for leisure or business travellers.

This newly renovated home is just a two-minute stroll from Campo dei Fiori, with its daily market and array of cafes, bars and restaurants. St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City is under twenty minutes on foot. It's a few minutes more to the Trevi Fountain, and the Colosseum and Imperial Forum are about a thirty-minute walk or fifteen-minute ride. How's that for a Roman getaway?

The Duchess is a comfortable place with lots going for it, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t start with that view. A city like Rome is full of views, but even so, this one is special, and the terrace itself is beautiful, with the furniture, the awning and the flowers all around (in summer, at least). This, along with the various antiques inside, makes you feel as if you’re in a Rome that existed 200 years ago, one that’s since been lost.

Instead of the very heart of Trastevere, Sky Queen is a little bit to the north. This is actually a fantastic location – you can avoid the hordes of revellers, and the Vatican is easy to reach, while the river is just at the end of the road.  A quieter option in a lovely location, this home is perfect if you're looking for an authentic stay – with all the big attractions within a half-hour walk.  

The double-height ceiling and the large windows make this place bright and breezy, which is surprisingly rare for this neighbourhood as the narrow streets and old buildings often conspire to keep sunlight away. There's a sense of history, with beamed ceilings, and a modern twist thanks to the mezzanine bedroom floor and the floating stairs. A comfy sofa takes the prime position in the open-plan living space, with a handy desk area and a contemporary kitchen tucked away under the mezzanine.

Nestled on a charming cobbled street in Rome’s Trastevere, this apartment is a slice of old Italian elegance with all the amenities of modern life, and the perfect place to live out your very own Roman Holiday. You'll also find a table if you need to work from home. The kitchen lacks an oven, but that said, the area is renowned for its culinary delights, so we reckon you'll be out sampling the local eateries most evenings.

While this two-bedroom Rome apartment isn't the most stylish in our collection, its enviable location is what makes it stand out. If you're here to explore, you'll find plenty of galleries and museums nearby. Back at home, one bedroom offers courtyard views, while the other lets you peer through trees at the River Tiber. The kitchen, while looking in need of an update, is well-equipped – though we think you'll be taking advantage of stylish Regola's eateries more often than not.

Two single sofa beds offer sleeping space for little ones in the lounge, though we think this pad is best for a couple. As for the location, you'll be based in Trastevere. Known for its bohemian atmosphere, local trattorias, and artisan shops, this neighbourhood is the perfect stomping grounds for those seeking an authentic stay. You're also an easy stroll into the centre if sightseeing is on your to-do list.

Since 1869, the Campo de' Fiori has been a hub of market trading for fresh fruit, vegetables, and flowers. And by evening, this charming square becomes a hub of alfresco dining spots and wine bars. With that in mind, this studio apartment is pretty convenient, at less than a minute away. But if you want to keep busy rather than relaxing with a glass of chianti, you’ll find palaces, museums, and statues all around – such as the Museo di Scultura Antica Giovanni Barracco, two minutes away. However, we feel that this home is somewhat of a landmark itself. As you step inside, you can help but be taken aback by the striking timber ceiling. These thick, rustic beams ooze old-world Italy, transporting you back in time. But with modern twists from minimalist furniture and quirky artworks, there’s an elegant clash of eras which makes this studio feel unique. We love the luxe touches like the marble kitchen sink and bathroom, although your host can provide an even better VIP experience. After being picked up by your private driver from the airport, you might fancy taking up their offer of a wine tasting tour or ride on a classic Vespa.

Situated in Rome’s Campo de' Fiori, this apartment is ideal for those who want a base with all the necessary comforts but aren't too concerned about frills. That said, the private terrace is pretty wow, with a lounge area, dining area and sweeping city views. We like the traditional features, but you might find the kitchen and bathrooms a little dated. What sold us on this pad was the terrace, the enclosed patio, and the central location – from here, you’re a short walk from the Pantheon and the Roman Forum, while you’ll find plenty of trattorias, neighbourhood bars and little cafes just off your doorstep.

Landmarks within walking distance include Castel Sant'Angelo and the Roman Forum. You’ve also got the Tiber just around the corner – it’s hard to overstate just how well-placed the flat is. Inside it’s simple, but with a pretty wooden ceiling upstairs, and lots of light. The kitchen is a little beige, but we did like the geometric wallpaper. We also noticed a lot of birdsong coming through the windows, which added a lovely, bucolic feel to the place.

Though this roomy apartment is based in a seventeenth-century palazzo, rustic charm is not the only thing on offer. While there are plenty of characterful touches here (think vaulted ceilings, arched doorways, even an original spiral staircase made of Roman brick), what makes this home stand out are the twenty-first-century updates. We're talking a lofted glass mezzanine, a two-seater sauna in the downstairs bedroom (the perfect way to relax after a busy day exploring Rome), a separate fitness room with a treadmill for squeezing in workouts and a contemporary kitchen that makes cooking a breeze. There's even a shady patio – whether you're sipping espresso in the mornings or enjoying an alfresco dinner in the Italian sunshine, it's an excellent spot to unwind. And you couldn't ask for a better location to take it all in. Piazza Navona is just a three-minute stroll away, and other world-famous landmarks like the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon are also within walking distance. Plus, you're surrounded by cafes, restaurants and a lively atmosphere, making this apartment a top-notch place to call home.

Here, the city's busiest sights are left behind for charming backstreets, lined by cosy cafes and shops. You'll be able to stroll along the River Tiber, take a trip to the Basilica Di Santa Maria (a two-minute walk away), and come back to relax in this welcoming apartment all in an afternoon's escapades. With sleek bathrooms and two truly comfortable bedrooms as well as extra space on the sofa bed, this humble abode would suit a group of friends in Rome for a few days perfectly. While there may be lots of sights to tick off around the city, the home invites guests to unwind in pure comfort as the warm, earthy tones and rustic charm throughout, makes for a laid-back ambience worth writing home about. We particularly love dark wooden doors and beams that run across the ceilings – as well as the beautiful stone sink in the master bathroom. Trust us when we say, you won't want to leave the relaxed way of living here, let alone the feeling of zen that flows freely around this apartment.

Any discussion of Savannah has to start with the roof terrace, a little rectangle of serenity nestled in the rooftops of Trastevere. There is furniture up there and even a canopy, so you can relax while hiding from the midday sun. The interior is simple but charming, with a working fireplace in the living room - perfect for those cosy winter nights. The bathroom is a little basic - especially if it’s being shared by four - and it’s worth noting that there is no lift in the building, but otherwise Savannah is a lovely base in Rome's most bohemian neighbourhood.

In Rome, there’s a tendency for hosts to put less effort into their interiors the more central their home is. The logic says that people will come anyway. And for the most part, they're right. However, this is absolutely not the case with this stunning apartment. It might be on one of the most beautiful streets in the city, but you can tell how much care your host, Giacomo, has put into the design – both from an aesthetic perspective and a practical one. These are small things, like choosing materials that are easy to maintain but keep a bit of character. The brick fireplace is probably the best example of this, but we're also big fans of the elegant simplicity of the minimalist, black kitchen. Step out onto the quaint cobbled street outside your home, and you'll find yourself within walking distance of many of Rome's headline sights. Head west over the River Tiber, and within fifteen minutes, you'll be gazing upon Vatican City, the awe-inspiring capital of Christianity. Closer to home, you're a mere five-minute walk from Piazza Navona. The picturesque square buzzes with activity at all hours of the day and night.

You’ll have trattorias, craft beer pubs, and independent shops on your doorstep at this apartment in the bohemian neighbourhood of Trastervere. And discovering the rest of the city will be a breeze, with many of Rome’s must-sees within walking distance. The layout of this home won’t suit everyone – the bed is on a mezzanine level, accessed via a ladder, and there’s not much space for preparing meals in the narrow kitchen. We think it’s best for a couple or solo traveller wanting to drop their bags and head out to explore.

This apartment in the Testaccio neighbourhood of Rome is a shining example of a somewhere we'd be more than happy to stay in the Italian capital. Quite literally in the case of the gleaming chequerboard tiling, parquet-style flooring and black marble in the master bathroom, which reflect the light beautifully and make this home feel gloriously light. The open-concept kitchen-dining area feels geared towards shared mealtimes, which is only appropriate given the locale's reputation as a gastronomic hotspot. Stroll over to Testaccio's glass-roofed market in under ten minutes and pick up some fresh ingredients for a home-prepared feast. Alternatively, if you're feeling lazy — or intrepid, however you want to frame it — there are a wide choice of restaurants nearby from which to take your pick.

Part of a nineteenth-century palazzo building constructed in neoclassical style, this duplex apartment is actually way more modern than the exterior suggests. Large pieces of bold artwork and bright bursts of colour make the interior feel fresh and vibrant, while the minimalist staircase leading up to the cosy mezzanine bedroom is stylish as they come. It's immediately clear that the host has opted for quality when putting the space together, The yellow kitchen area was designed by Italian design firm Mudulnnova and is stocked with silverware and crockery from Villeroy & Boch. All this, and the location in the Centro Storico is outstanding, too. From the building's front door, look left and you'll see the sixteenth-century Chiesa del Gesù, while in the other direction, there's the ancient site of Largo di Torre Argentina where Julius Caesar was assassinated. The Pantheon only takes six minutes to reach on foot, too.

A hidden gem between the Tiber and Piazza Venezia, centred on lively Via del Portico d’Ottavia. Here is where you'll find this magnificent apartment, right in the beating heart of Rome's Jewish Quarter. Peer out of large windows in the living room at the cobbled streets below, and you'll soon discover a historic neighbourhood of makers studios, petite shops, kosher bakeries and thronging trattorias sitting alongside the unique square dome of Rome's main synagogue. The home's main living and dining room is furnished with dark wood and deep reds, which lend a warm, welcoming feel that will stay with you throughout your time here. The compact kitchen is perfect for rustling up a quick meal, but given that you're staying in a food lover's city, you could be forgiven for eating out most of the time. Handily, two of the area's best restaurants lie directly beneath your feet – Nonna Betta and Il Giardino Romano both serve up sumptuous Italian-Kosher dishes in an authentic atmosphere. The bright bedroom is a delight, and the direct access to a small outdoor courtyard is a massive plus, as is the en-suite bathroom, complete with a Jacuzzi tub. Step out of your apartment, and you can reach must-see Roman sights such as the Pantheon and Colosseum in ten- and twenty-minute walks, respectively. Wander ten minutes across the Tiber, you'll find yourself in the hip, bohemian area of Trastevere with its innovative trattorias and craft beer pubs.

If you're planning a trip to Rome but are not so keen on the traditional homes that make up a lot of the options, we would point you in the direction of this contemporary apartment.

Against an effortlessly cool backdrop of stark white walls and tiled flooring, much of the interior design embraces industrial-chic trends, from the bare lightbulbs hanging from the ceiling and the chalkboard on the kitchen wall to the bright yellow stools at the kitchen surface. We're also big fans of the Basquiat artworks and the sleek bathroom.

In keeping with this stylish interior, the home sits on the trendier side of the Tiber in the neighbourhood of Trastevere, full of fashionable trattorias and photogenic alleyways. If you fancy giving in to your inner tourist at any point, many of the big-hitters aren't far away. Both Piazza Navona and the Pantheon can be seen in twenty minutes' walk, while Castel Sant'Angelo takes just over a quarter of an hour on foot.

Parchment Scrolls oozes classical Roman style. There’s a wonderful mix of antique elements, like the ceiling beams or the painted doors, and more modern fittings that give it a sense of balance. It’s also in a fantastic position, in the cobblestone lanes of Ponte, and right opposite the grand Church of San Biagio. All of these blessings manage to outweigh the only real problem, which is the second bathroom. It doesn’t have the best ventilation, and the shower is only 190cm high, but we think that it’s forgivable given the rest of the space.

It’s easy to see the lengths that your host, Luca has gone to with this home to really bring a snug studio space alive—it’s full of interesting details which simultaneously stand alone and work in harmony to tie the place together. From the textured, botanical print wallpaper to the gold sunburst mirror and vitalising forest green accents, its quirkiness fits in well with the local area, famous for its individuality and bohemian spirit. Your next-door neighbour is pretty interesting too, you share a wall with the 600-year-old Church of Sant'Agata—fortunately, the bells no longer ring so you can indulge in plenty of lie-ins. Take to the meandering cobblestone streets where colourful buildings give way to wide-open piazzas and wandering side streets filled with rustic bars and authentic trattorias. What’s more, some of the city’s best attractions, like the Colosseum, Marcello Theatre and the Spada Gallery, are well within a thirty-minute walk from your Roman bolthole.

Just a stone’s throw from the Tiber River in Rome’s Trastevere neighbourhood, this bright apartment was made for socialising and relaxing.
