Created to make the most of indoor-outdoor living, it's also cleverly constructed to keep the south-facing areas cool and shaded, shielding your from the heat of the Sardinian sun. While the stark grey facade and sharply angled lines make a breathtaking first impression, we think the interiors speak for themselves too. We love how the architect decided to show off the incredible landscape of La Maddalena by creating a picture frame out of every window – each one set at the exact right height to maximise the impact. There’s even a telescope in the study so you can explore the area from the comfort of your own home, or go full Rear Window and see what your neighbours are up to down in the harbour. The muted grey tones of the exterior are mirrored in the contemporary kitchen, while the dining room is framed by floor-to-ceiling windows offering the best views in the house. With its white sand and calm waters, beach days are a no-brainer – but if you'd prefer a bit more activity, why not hike Monte Nieddu for viewpoints across the sea? Back home, a private swimming pool will keep you busy on lazy days, while a covered terrace makes the perfect spot to enjoy a tipple or two. Sleeping arrangements are flexible thanks to a double sofa bed in the living area – although, with only two bathrooms here, nine guests will certainly be a squeeze. Inside, the villa is elegant and comfortable. We love the outdoor kitchen, and the porch for drinking in the views after a dip in the private pool.

This apartment sits just a few steps from the sea, and only 200 metres from Baia Caddinas, a gentle cove with fine white sand. The balcony is dreamy, and where you’ll likely spend most of your time, though the rest of the home is charming too. With two bathrooms, it’s plenty big enough for four. You'll need to pay for your linen unless you plan on bringing your own.

If topping up your tan is high on your holiday to-do list, you’ll welcome the sight of the communal pool, surrounded by sun loungers. You’ll need a car to get around and for local amenities in Golfo Aranci – exploring the island further is a must.

If you want to get some diving done while you’re in Sardinia, this could be the perfect base for you. This villa is in Santa Teresa di Gallura, just 450 metres from Baia Santa Reparata, a beach known for its colourful seabeds. You can also easily hop on a boat trip to explore La Maddalena Archipelago. When you’re on terra firma, you’ll enjoy the outside space here – the private pool and shaded terrace are where we’d be spending most of our time. Some of the decor is a little dated, but there’s also plenty of charm here – you’ll need to pay for bedding and towels though.

On a panoramic promontory, close to the glamour and glitz of the Costa Smeralda, this charming villa is the perfect base for exploring Sardinia’s splendid coast. The view over the Gulf of Portisco is the kind of sight we’ve been dreaming of all winter. This gorgeous apartment sits in a renovated 19th-century building in the heart of the Old Town and offers stunning views in every direction. Inside, cool off from the midday heat in the air-conditioned living space while enjoying the natural light and views across the town. Our favourite bit is the expansive roof terrace, the ideal place to gather for soaking up the Corsican sunshine. The well-shaded dining area has its own barbecue so you can sit down to eat alfresco at lunchtime. There’s also a relaxing chill-out area, with wicker furniture and beanbags overlooking the Mediterranean sea below. If you can tear yourself away from your home's many little luxuries, you're only a fifteen-minute walk from a sandy beach and the charming marina filled with bobbing yachts, while just outside your door, the Old Town offers up restaurants, bars and plenty of cultural attractions including the impressive Église St-Jean-Baptiste.

This villa is an excellent spot in which to admire the natural beauty of Sardinia. Thanks to the home's elevated position, guests get a wonderful view of the dazzling blue waters of Porto Rotondo from the upper floors. However, don't be surprised if the paradisical garden immediately below grabs your attention, too.

Out here in among the colourful flower beds and handsome granite walls, you can while away lazy afternoons paddling about in the swimming pool, catching some rays on the loungers or cooking up a storm in the outdoor kitchen (complete with a barbecue and pizza oven).

Inside, the home is spread across four floors, so while there are plenty of stairs, it feels cool and airy, thanks to the high ceilings, stark white walls and terracotta tiling underfoot. There's a discernible rustic theme to the design, from the wicker chairs and natural-themed artwork to the large rock feature in the main entrance hall.

With the nautical location, you might not be surprised to learn that there are two beaches that can be reached in just over a quarter of an hour's walk (Spiaggia dei Sassi and di Ira), while the historic city of Olbia takes a similar amount of time to reach in the car, too. Closer to home, there are a handful of restaurants, bars and discos in the local area.

Switch off and experience the beauty of Sardinia at this home in Punta Molara. Despite lacking wi-fi, the dappled veranda and private swimming pool will be a welcome distraction. The views are pretty great, too – and the alfresco dining table and outdoor sofa are perfect places to enjoy them. All the bedrooms are a good size – one is even located on the lower level with its own entrance – but you'll need to pay for bed linen and towels or bring your own. As for location, Cala Ginepro's crystal-clear waters and pebbled beach are 800 metres away, while the city of Olbia and its many cafe-flanked piazzas is a 12-kilometre drive.

Featuring picturesque scenery – best viewed from the private terrace, this apartment offers a boutique hotel-like experience, with the added privacy of having your own cooking and dining facilities. While the swimming pool is shared with other guests staying in neighbouring apartments, the complex is quiet and residential and there are thirty apartments in total on-site. Separated into two buildings, three of the double-bedroom suites are located in the annexe. Meanwhile, the other two bedrooms are found alongside the living area and dining area in the main building. Additionally, the laundry room is bound to come in handy for those here on longer stays. 




The Fairways of History

Whether you’re a family or a group of friends, this villa provides a comfortable base from which to explore Sardinia’s northwest coast. While Luculumbu Beach is within walking distance, there’s not much else to do in the surrounding area, so a car is a must here. The home itself is well-appointed and the views of the Mediterranean Sea from the swimming pool speak for themselves. Just a heads up, bed linens and towels are an additional extra and will need to be booked before your arrival.

You’ll have a Jacuzzi to unwind in but no pool, so this home will really only appeal to those who enjoy sea swimming and the feel of sand underfoot. The twin rooms are ideal for children. With a private garden overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, this charming bungalow makes for a restful stay. The interiors are on the minimal side of things, but the space feels perfectly practical and inviting. Outside, you’ll find a dining table and barbecue to share alfresco dinners, and as night falls, you can enjoy the sunset with a glass of locally-produced Vermentino. Although there isn’t a swimming pool here, the sands of Quarta Spiaggia are just a few steps away, so after soaking up the sun, you can cool off in the crystal-clear waters.

If you’d like to do some exploring, Quarta Beach is a short walk from your doorstep and the heart of Golfo Aranci, reached in around five minutes by car, plays host to fantastic seafood restaurants.

Although bed linen and towels are an additional cost, each bedroom is comfortable and cosy – but, as there's only space for eight around the table, we think ten guests will be a squeeze. Location-wise, Costa Paradiso is yours to discover. Li Cossi beach is less than a five-minute drive, with restaurants, bars and seasonal shops also within striking distance.

This villa stands in the village of Budoni, within easy reach of the beautiful Cala Brandinchi beach and Lu Impostu. The decor is simple, and there isn’t much space for everyone inside – but with views like this, you won’t be spending much time indoors. The terrace is a great spot for alfresco meals, and kids will love the private swimming pool. We recommend hiring a car so you can get out and explore more of Sardinia.
