If you want to get some diving done while you’re in Sardinia, this could be the perfect base for you. This villa is in Santa Teresa di Gallura, just 450 metres from Baia Santa Reparata, a beach known for its colourful seabeds. You can also easily hop on a boat trip to explore La Maddalena Archipelago. When you’re on terra firma, you’ll enjoy the outside space here – the private pool and shaded terrace are where we’d be spending most of our time. Some of the decor is a little dated, but there’s also plenty of charm here – you’ll need to pay for bedding and towels though.

This San Teodoro home is a short drive from the buzzing Spiaggia Lu Impostu. With its white sand and calm waters, beach days are a no-brainer – but if you'd prefer a bit more activity, why not hike Monte Nieddu for viewpoints across the sea? Back home, a private swimming pool will keep you busy on lazy days, while a covered terrace makes the perfect spot to enjoy a tipple or two. Sleeping arrangements are flexible thanks to a double sofa bed in the living area – although, with only two bathrooms here, nine guests will certainly be a squeeze. We love how the architect decided to show off the incredible landscape of La Maddalena by creating a picture frame out of every window – each one set at the exact right height to maximise the impact. There’s even a telescope in the study so you can explore the area from the comfort of your own home, or go full Rear Window and see what your neighbours are up to down in the harbour. The muted grey tones of the exterior are mirrored in the contemporary kitchen, while the dining room is framed by floor-to-ceiling windows offering the best views in the house. In the rugged south of Corsica, near Bonifacio, sits this chalet-like retreat in the hills. Wood-clad outside, it blends in with the rolling scenery, where ancient woodlands cover the hills like a deep green blanket. It’s a ten-minute drive into Bonifacio, an ancient port town with a buzzing marina and medieval hilltop citadel. The villa itself is set in field-like lawns where a shady olive grove invites you for an afternoon stroll. The turquoise swimming pool sits pride of place on the deck and is lined with loungers. Outdoor dining is on offer under the shaded terrace, framed by ivy. Inside it feels natural with wooden walls and a white-wash vaulted ceiling. Inside the villa is crisp and modern, though you’ll have to pay for bed and bath linen (or bring your own). When you’re not at the beach, you can soak up the rays on the hiking and cycling trails of the Gallura area – it’s best to hire a car if you want to explore.

The villa is sunny and tranquil, with a soft colour palette that allows the view to take centre stage. The patio doors retract, merging the indoor and outdoor spaces to create that wonderful island feel. Enjoy breakfast while gazing out at the panoramic view of the bay, before taking your coffee out to one of the comfortable sofas on the terrace. The fenced garden leads directly to a small sandy beach in a calm bay. The water is shallow and clear, so it’s like having your own private swimming pool. There are two stand-up paddleboards for you to use, which is a great way of exploring the coast a little further. There are plenty of beaches to explore aside from your own – why not drive seven minutes to Spiaggia dei Baracconi?

Rinse off the sand in the outdoor hot water shower, then start thinking about dinner. Maybe you’ll pop into town for some fresh seafood, or perhaps you’ll get to work in the outdoor kitchen? Fire up the barbecue for a family feast on the terrace. When the plates have been cleared, slip into the Jacuzzi to watch the sun go down.

Switch off and experience the beauty of Sardinia at this home in Punta Molara. Despite lacking wi-fi, the dappled veranda and private swimming pool will be a welcome distraction. The views are pretty great, too – and the alfresco dining table and outdoor sofa are perfect places to enjoy them. All the bedrooms are a good size – one is even located on the lower level with its own entrance – but you'll need to pay for bed linen and towels or bring your own. As for location, Cala Ginepro's crystal-clear waters and pebbled beach are 800 metres away, while the city of Olbia and its many cafe-flanked piazzas is a 12-kilometre drive.

Whether you’re a family or a group of friends, this villa provides a comfortable base from which to explore Sardinia’s northwest coast. While Luculumbu Beach is within walking distance, there’s not much else to do in the surrounding area, so a car is a must here. The home itself is well-appointed and the views of the Mediterranean Sea from the swimming pool speak for themselves. Just a heads up, bed linens and towels are an additional extra and will need to be booked before your arrival.

If you can tear yourself away from your home's many little luxuries, you're only a fifteen-minute walk from a sandy beach and the charming marina filled with bobbing yachts, while just outside your door, the Old Town offers up restaurants, bars and plenty of cultural attractions including the impressive Église St-Jean-Baptiste.

Location-wise, Costa Paradiso is yours to discover. Li Cossi beach is less than a five-minute drive, with restaurants, bars and seasonal shops also within striking distance.

The view from this villa is simply stunning. From every angle in the garden, your eye is drawn to the Gulf of Pevero, and to the lush scenery of this Emerald Coast home. The private infinity pool and outdoor lounge are undoubtedly the stars of the show here, but the interior has plenty of appeal too. Kids will love the cinema area, and the gym is handy too. The fine white sand and turquoise waters of Porto Paglia beach are just a short distance away. You’ll need to pay extra for towels and bed linen.
