With a few wineries in the surrounding area, why not go on a tour – you’ll get to each of them in ten minutes or less – and bring back a few of your favourites to enjoy with the Mediterranean feast you’ll prepare on the barbecue? Of course you’ll escape to the beach as often as possible, but the lively fishing village of Marzamemi is utterly charming and reachable by car in eight minutes.

You can admire the vistas from inside too, and we love that all the bedrooms open out onto a terrace or balcony.

This stunning home tucked away on Southern Italy’s coastline offers a perfect slice of Sicilian paradise. There's also a private swimming pool and terrace ideal for alfresco dining, but the real draw is the rooftop, where a bubbling Jacuzzi awaits. The practical interiors could be more impressive – and two guests will sleep on the sofa bed – but the area, views, and sun-kissed outdoor spaces make it a good choice.

You're not seeing double. This home is made up of two neighbouring villas on the same estate. You'll have two of everything here – two private pools (though only one of these is open all year round), two gardens, and two rooftop terraces with sea views where you can watch the sunset. We think it's excellent for separate families or large friend groups craving independent spaces. You'll want a car here, as the baroque towns of Syracuse, Ragusa and Noto are within driving distance. Meanwhile, beach days are at your fingertips with the nearest sandy shore just 300 metres away.

The outdoor living space promises peaceful views, a private pool, and relaxing seating spots, though one of the bedrooms can only be accessed from the terrace. Along the coast, you'll find the beautiful Nature Reserve of Vendicari. Or the baroque towns of Noto and Ragusa offer rewarding road trips.

We recommend hiring a car to get around here, but it’s just a short drive to the nearest amenities in Pachino, while the baroque city of Noto is also within easy driving distance.

The villa can be found just 100 metres from the seashore in South East Sicily. The pretty fishing village of Marzamemi is just a five-minute drive away, and the beautiful Vendicari Nature Reserve is seven minutes away. This is an ideal base from which to enjoy and explore all that this part of Sicily has to offer.

Eat breakfast on the covered terrace, enjoying the view of the gardens and pool, and beyond to the sea. We’d follow this with a dip in the beautiful pool, or by wandering down to the beach. Our favourite beach, San Lorenzo, is a nineteen-minute walk, or you can nip there in two minutes in the car. Spend the afternoon in Marzamemi, where you can stroll along the cobbled streets and treat yourself to some fresh seafood for lunch – there’s no shortage of picture-perfect eateries along the attractive harbour. 

You have a tough decision to make in the evening – do you watch the sunset from the roof terrace or from the hot tub in the pool? Wherever you choose to enjoy it, make sure you do so with a glass of local wine. Absolute bliss.

The rocky Spiaggia dei Due Mari is a short walk away – dip your toes in the water and swim where the Ionian and Mediterranean seas meet. Situated on Sicily's southernmost tip in the town of Portopalo, we find this whitewashed stone villa. Though the home lacks a bit of cosiness, you’ll find everything you need here for a great holiday. The property boasts a large open garden with a private swimming pool, as well as a terrace that lends itself perfectly to home-cooked alfresco meals. The sea is easily accessible via a footpath along the cliff and most of Portopalo’s eateries and bars are within walking distance. Worth noting is that there’s an independent annex here too which can host four more people.

With some small steps up to the pool and main terrace, it may not be suitable for all guests with limited mobility. But the flexible sleeping arrangement and provided cot and high chair mean it's great for families or friend groups travelling together.  We recommend hiring a car for visiting Marzamemi and the Taormina nature reserve, as well as popular Sicilian spots like Noto.
