When we say this villa blends in with its leafy green surroundings, we mean it. A facade coated in ivy, it sits against a backdrop of towering ancient trees atop a hill on the Sicilian coast. The view from the infinity-edge swimming pool is simply stunning – looking out over the dramatic Sicilian coastline as the Mediterranean stretches before you. Wandering the terraced gardens is like the perambulations of yesteryear when glorious villas were flanked by cypress trees and the sea air was a cure-all. Wending your way beneath rose-covered archways, you’ll find the lounge terrace with plush furniture for tipples outdoors.

Inside, you can feel the fact that this place was built in the 19th century. The hand-painted tiled floor and twisting vines on the walls of the vast dining room are a testament to that. It's hard to put a finger on what it is exactly that makes this address so extraordinary. Sure, the hillside location above the Sicilian coastline more than delivers when it comes to dramatically beautiful landscape to gaze out upon, but we've got a feeling that the villa would still wow in even the most uninspiring of settings.

A lot of that is down to the effortlessly chic design that can be found throughout the four floors, with stylish furnishings, large light-filled communal areas and flooring so shiny that you can probably see your own face staring back in it. It does no harm that there are also a fair few balconies that offer a splendid vantage point from which to admire the scenery.

As well as being easy on the eye, there's an enviable list of amenities at guests' disposal. Many of these lie outside, including the heated saltwater swimming pool and Jacuzzi surrounded by loungers, plus the covered outdoor kitchen with a barbecue and dining table. However, there's plenty more to be discovered inside, not least the gym, massage room and sauna that can be found on the ground level.

You might just feel no pressing need to leave the address, but there's a whole lot to see and do nearby. There's a sandy beach all of 600m away from the home, while the nearby towns of Naxos and Taormina offer a great array of restaurants, shops and attractions, too.

Located to the east of Mount Etna, this villa enjoys views of the surrounding mountains and sea. Comprising a two-storey house with an annex, it’s a great option for a group of families or friends who want their own private space while on holiday together. We love the added extras here, like the Jacuzzi in the master bedroom and the private sauna, as well as the mountain views from many of the bedrooms. We recommend you hire a car for easy access to the beaches of Fondachello and Giardini Naxos, and the fishing villages on the Cyclops Riviera.

Take Me To The Sea

This comfortable apartment is situated in the historic coastal town of Giardini Naxos, and it benefits from having a sea-facing balcony. The beach is located directly opposite the home’s main entrance and the surrounding area offers plenty of local shops and restaurants. At full capacity you may feel a tad squeezed here – we think that the place is best suited for a couple. Bear in mind that the pad is situated on the third floor with no lift.

This home is all about maximising Sicilian living – multiple outdoor terraces for dining and lounging, a pristine pool and sun-bathing area, and minimalist bedrooms that open out onto the sea views. These vistas don't come so easy here – access to the villa is via a steep road – but it's worth the effort. The nearest beach is 2km away in Letojanni, while the cities of Taormina, Catania and Syracuse are great options for a day trip.
