Retaining its original exposed stone structure and terracotta thatched roof, this villa stands tall just outside the small village of Alberoro. Spend mornings relaxing on the lush lawns by the private pool, where sprigs of lavender lend an air of tranquillity. Fire up the gas barbecue for an alfresco lunch in the courtyard, with striking views over the rural landscapes of the Aretine Val di Chiana and its surrounding villages. Large white umbrellas cover the many outdoor seating areas here, to shade you from the Mediterranean sun as you enjoy the views. Inside, this rustic home has luxurious touches throughout, including beautiful bathrooms with painted walls, blue velvet sofas, a 12-seater wrought iron dining table and a piano. As well as two separate living rooms, there's a light-filled library with comfy sofas, and a games room with foosball and a poker table. If you can tear yourself away, you’ll be just a short drive away from the quaint medieval town of Arezzo.

Lavender Lawns

When staying in Tuscany, who doesn’t want a 16th-century villa, with life-size frescoes and acres of grounds to explore? This place sits between the medieval borgo of Monte San Savino (a ten-minute drive) and the alluring city of Arezzo (a fifteen-minute drive).

This villa’s swimming pool really grabbed us – a long, turquoise triangle, covered at one end to keep you shaded during the heat of the day. Loungers sit beneath parasols and the huge, outdoor dining table is shaded by an L-shaped pergola, dappled with jasmine. There are sprawling lawns for the kids to run free, and a tennis court and ping pong table too.

Spread across a main house and two separate apartments, you'll have plenty of space here – from the grand lounge set around an ancient stone fireplace to the book-lined family snug and TV room. The kitchen is sleek and modern in slate grey and white but sits beneath the old wooden ceiling of this 16th-century villa for a touch of the past.

Between The Olive Groves

Surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, this historic estate is a celebration of timeless Italian charm. And from the moment of arrival, we think you’ll be impressed by this unique and magical setting. There’s an outdoor pool for blissful swims and a bar for lingering sunset drinks. Inside, you’ll be treated to another indoor pool (this one is heated) and there’s a gym to keep your excercise regime in check. All of the bedrooms set the tone for total relaxation and there are en-suite bathrooms for privacy. Plus, your host can help arrange special extras like private chefs and massage treatments. You will need a car to get around here, but it’s a great base for exploring nearby Florence, Arezzo and Siena.

A True Love

Escape to the beautiful Tuscan countryside, with a stay in this traditional Italian home. You’ll be welcomed by a serene garden with a pool and a covered veranda with an outdoor kitchen for alfresco dining. There’s also a wellness area with a sauna and a hot tub to ensure optimum relaxation. Inside, you’ll find tradition and contemporary comfort with all five bedrooms featuring en-site bathrooms for privacy. We recommend hiring a car to get around here, but it’s just a short drive to Ambra where you’ll find the nearest restaurants and shops. You can also drive to Arezzo, Florence and Siena for inspiring day trips.

Peaceful Love

Surrounded by scenery straight out of an oil painting, it comes as no surprise that the variety of landscape in the Valdarno area is believed to have been portrayed by the great da Vinci himself. The so-called balze that characterise the region and numerous artworks, rural structures, and Romanesque churches provide the perfect backdrop to this stunning, Tuscan palace. By no means out of place amongst such grandeur and history, an aristocratic elegance floods this home. From its turreted bedrooms, wooden beam ceilings, and formal dining room, to its private drive and panoramic veranda that looks out onto twenty-hectares of land and bordering vineyards. Large groups and families will have no struggle for space here, with a main house and two annexes to spread out over. A games veranda also sports its own gym area with treadmill and stepper, whilst multiple porches and shaded lounge areas offer endless spots for relaxation and retreat. A short distance from the home lies a number of trails to explore, either by foot or mountain bike, which your host supplies. Dotted with sites of Roman and Etruscan heritage and a wealth of flora and fauna, there is beauty to behold as far as the eye can see.

Villa da Vinci

Halfway between Arezzo and Siena, this 18th-century farmhouse makes a fantastic base for exploring Tuscany. The garden will surely be a hit, featuring a private pool (open seasonally), a loggia with a brick barbecue, and a terrace where you can tuck into alfresco meals – not to mention plenty of lawn space where kids and pets can let off some steam. Inside, though dated, certainly doesn't lack charm. We love all the character features, from the timber beams on the ceiling down to the terracotta floors. With seven en-suite bedrooms (including two on the ground floor), it’s a great option for extended families and large friend groups.

Take Me to Toscana

Set atop a hill in the Tuscan countryside, this villa blends old-world charm with modern convenience. Featuring a fenced garden and tonnes of space to play around, it's perfect for families with kids and a four-legged friend. Not to mention the sprawling swimming pool – ideal for cooling off, given that this home doesn't have air conditioning. With the Chianti region close by, and lots of other little villages and larger cities just a short drive away, this is a great base for those hoping to discover all this region has to offer.

Jade Valley

Situated near Monte San Savino, this farmhouse invites guests to experience an authentic taste of the Tuscan countryside, including a complimentary wine tasting and a visit to the owner's winery. With a large garden and private swimming pool overlooking the vineyards and hills, you'll likely choose to spend much of your time out here taking in the surrounding scenery. Inside, classic designs nod to the home's Italian countryside location through features including an original oven and fireplace. While its traditional styling may not be to everyone's tastes, modern finishing touches ensure comfort and practicality are met here.

Limestone & Antique

Amidst the rolling hills and long stretches of vineyards, you'll be captivated by the peace and serenity of this place from the moment you arrive. Stone clad brickwork and cobbled paths set the scene with a backdrop of the surrounding countryside – painting a picture-perfect view of blissful Tuscan serenity. Inside exposed wooden beams and traditional tiled flooring bring charm to the otherwise modern interiors, and you'll have the choice of eating alfresco or at cooler temperatures from the indoor dining area, when it comes to meal times. Take a dip in the outdoor shared pool, or embark on the day's adventures in and around Tuscany. With golfing, horseback riding, cycle paths and walking trails on offer, if you're the. outdoorsy type – this is the place for you. After a day of exploring feel rest assured in knowing that the bubbling jacuzzi awaits your return – but don't forget to pour yourself a glass of wine before getting in.

Tuscan Serenity

Set on a historic estate dating back to 1782 in the rolling hills of Tuscany, this home sets the scene for an extra-special stay. Lovingly restored to pair period charm and contemporary luxury, the two neighbouring apartments offer ample space for your group to get comfy. The professional kitchen has all you need to whip up Italian classics, though the outside space is our favourite part here. A panoramic heated pool and scenic terraces invite you to really take it easy. There's also a wellness suite with a gym and sauna, a wood-fired barbecue, and a private chapel. Plus, with Tuscany’s world-class wineries, charming hilltop villages, and Medieval towns to discover, you’ll never be short of places to explore nearby.

A Thousand Horizons

Made up of a main building and two annexes, nestled on a promontory and enjoying stunning views of the city and surrounding countryside, this home is a gorgeous blend of the traditional and the super modern. Sit by the fireplace in the main building or admire the art adorning the walls, or out by the private pool and catch some sun on the poolside loungers under the trees. While one annexe houses primarily bedrooms, the second can be enjoyed as an impressive modern gazebo with a fully-equipped kitchen and dining area, and large windows that can be lowered at the touch of a button. Read under the trees and enjoy picnics on the vast grounds, and dine alfresco in the furnished gazebo.

Although you'll enjoy tranquillity and serenity during your stay, there's only a ten-minute drive between you and the city of Arezzo. History buffs can visit the Roman amphitheatre and Medici Fortress, or dine like a local at the range of fantastic restaurants. Indulge in some retail therapy or breathe in the fresh air on the hiking trails of Misciano, before heading home to draw yourself a hot bath or enjoy late-night drinks on one of the multiple terraces.

Timeless Harmony

This incredible eighteenth-century villa in the heart of Tuscany is a wonderful setting for a wedding or just a gathering of your nearest and dearest. With views out over the Tuscan hills, the spectacularly sited pool, waterlily-filled ponds and courtyards make it worth the stay alone. The gravelled terrace overlooking the undulating countryside can be set up for special events, and there’s a built-in barbecue for a more casual alfresco feast. Exploring the grounds, spread over a hectare, you'll find tennis courts, secluded terraces and woodland walks.

Step inside to find wooden beams, traditional shuttered windows, arched alcoves and soaring high ceilings, all of which were designed by the architect Massimiliano Soldani, who created the residence as his private home. The dining room can host the whole group, and several lounges and sitting rooms come adorned with bold modern artworks and chandeliers beneath the wooden ceilings. There are two kitchens to choose from, one in holiday-cheery canary yellow, with an old brick fireplace still ensconced in the wall.

You’re in the heart of the countryside here, with Arezzo and Siena within day-tripping distance. Those that like a walk will appreciate the hike up to Torre di Galatrona, which starts just beyond the villa’s boundary, or perhaps a day at the winery next door.
