As well as a lounge given some shade by a large parasol, there's also a separate deck with an alfresco dining table and a stone barbecue, plus another area that holds a swimming pool.

Although we're betting you'll be spending most of your time in the open air, the interior is also pleasing to the eye as well. Through the arched doorways, guests will be greeted by a rustic interior, complete with cooling tiles on the floor, patterned walls in the kitchen and lots of botanical-themed artwork dotted about the place.

The local village of Vellano can be reached in around ten minutes' stroll and has a couple of restaurants for when you get peckish. Further afield, there are Tuscan towns that can be reached in under an hour's drive, such as Montecatini Terme, Lucca and Pistoia. If you're up for a slightly longer journey, Florence is only an hour and twenty minutes' drive from the home.

You'll find all of Lucca's charms just a few minutes' drive away, and if you love nature, you'll want to visit the scenic canyon of Orrido di Botri.

This renovated farmhouse in Tuscany is perfect for a trip with family or friends. The sprawling garden is great for the little ones to let loose, and there's also table tennis to keep them entertained. In a place so serene, you'd never imagine that you're only a few minutes' drive from authentic trattorias that are waiting to welcome you with local fare. That said, with stunning spaces to dine alfresco here, you could just as easily choose to stay home.

It’s just 3 kilometres from the old town of Lucca, so you can easily stroll to the Walls and explore the city. Hike or cycle through quaint villages, possibly stopping at a vineyard or two.

There are two complimentary bicycles available for guests, making the five-minute walk to the local town even quicker. Here you can pick up groceries to cook up an alfresco feast; you’ll want to make use of the pretty, shaded outdoor dining area with views over the immaculate grounds. There’s even a wood-fired pizza oven, so you’d better start practising your dough spinning. The inside of the villa is a stunning mélange of classic Italian style with modern comfort.
