With oodles of space and a picturesque garden, this Lucca apartment ensures your downtime at home is just as enjoyable as your adventures in the walled city. Committed to modernity, it’s a white-walled, high-ceilinged haven that fosters a sense of calm and ease, while pops of bright colour and plenty of green plants bring a touch of vibrancy. Take afternoon tea in the armchairs out on the deck or fling open your bedroom doors and embrace la dolce vita with a bottle of Prosecco at the charming balcony’s table for two. There’s dedicated gated parking here, too, meaning you can effortlessly hire a car and set off for a Tuscan wine-route escapade. But there are plenty of attractions right on your doorstep as well. The home is in a central yet quiet part of town – it’s just a one-minute stroll to San Francesco, a Gothic-style church, while Guinigi Tower is a seven-minute walk. If you want to take some snaps of Lucca Cathedral – it’s twelve minutes on foot, or use the free bikes provided by your lovely host.


Curved Lines

Baby blues, greens and yellows aren’t just the colors you’ll be able to see from your open-air roof terrace, but from all the delightful lounge spaces within this home housed in a former palace. Whatever the season, you’ll feel like spring is just around the corner as the light pastel accents around the apartment help brighten up the space while creating a calm and earthy atmosphere. From the turquoise tiled backsplash in the kitchen to the antique-looking coffee table, there’s plenty to marvel at, including the cosy attic room equipped for sleep and child’s play – perfect for the imagination to run wild here. In the main bedroom, you’ll find that the muted green walls and earthy browns help lull you to sleep, whether it’s from a long day out dining on the terrace with the Guinigi Tower (a two-minute walk) as your backdrop and the nearby music school serenading you or exploring the main shopping streets of Lucca situated just a minute away. Elsewhere, Villa Bottini is a five-minute walk away too and Saint Martin Cathedral is three minutes on foot from your door. 


Pastel Dreams

Step off the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, and into this glorious Tuscan home in the heart of Lucca. With high ceilings, period features and huge rooms, the apartment is dressed as a classic, centuries-old palazzo but it's been brought up to date with a few modern luxuries. Just wander into the fabulous living room and you'll be wowed by the intricately painted ceiling, the antique paintings and the luxurious furnishings. Start your day with a fresh coffee, perhaps in the library, or sat at the table in the traditional kitchen, before heading out to explore this historic city. You're just a short walk from the best sights, and you'll find a food market and the imposing Guinigi Tower nearby. Pick up some local produce and show off your chef skills in the kitchen, serving your meal in the impressive dining room. After dinner, sit out in the square for drinks or take a stroll along the Renaissance walls – the most iconic features of the city.

Fresco Flourish

Experience the historic heart of Lucca from this cosy apartment. Located between the iconic Piazza San Michele and Piazza Napoleone, this is a great base for an Italian adventure. Wander to local restaurants, enjoy sightseeing and make the most of all this wonderful city has to offer. It’s also just a five-minute walk from the train station – making it easy to explore further afield. Inside, the owners have retained the rustic features while adding in contemporary comforts. It’s worth noting the single room is small, but there is a dedicated desk making this a great option for remote workers. 

The Crown of Beauty

Touched with a daub of pastels, this ground-floor apartment is a delightful haven to decompress in after busy days exploring historic Lucca and its surrounding towns. The beamed ceilings and arched doorways are typically Tuscan, and a commitment to muted tones – except in the second bathroom which offers a playful shock of cobalt mosaic tiles – invites you to take it easy and play strains of classical music, open up a bottle of robust red and perhaps put a Fellini film on the flat-screen television. You’re in the heart of the action of Lucca here, with less than a ten-minute walk to attractions like antique shops, markets, restaurants and the Lu.c.c.A Center of Contemporary Art. Just around the corner, on Via della Fratta, you’ll find a famous patisserie and a host of artisanal food shops where you can pick up delicious ingredients to experiment with in the pristine kitchen. 

Vanilla-Bean Gelato

Located within the city walls, this fourth-floor home is perched above one of Lucca's main shopping streets. Promising pretty skyline views, this designer-furnished space offers a base for sightseers to plan out their itineraries. The lack of a handrail on the staircase calls for eagle-eyed parenting, as all guests will have to take care climbing up to the loft. With not much keeping you indoors, the famous Torre Guinigi is a stone's throw away, plus medieval churches and historic piazzas.

Bianco Scorcia

This penthouse apartment might have an historic address inside the city walls, but step inside and you’ll find a contemporary sanctuary. There are plenty of home comforts and all the essentials you could need to relax and unwind. One of the bedrooms is tucked away on the first floor and both bedrooms have access to a private bathroom. And when it comes to location, you’ll be immersed in the vibrant heart of Lucca. From here, it’s just a short stroll to iconic sights, local bakeries, grocery stores and restaurants. 


The Carla  

In the heart of Lucca, atop an ancient palazzo, lies a romantic retreat. This top-floor gem blends contemporary style with timeless elegance, featuring a fireplace that dates back to the 1600s and all the modern amenities you could wish for. It’s a beautiful home that offers views of central Lucca – you'll be just steps from the iconic Guinigi Tower and Piazza San Martino. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby, and you’ll have a convenient kitchen to cook in, too. 

The Bell Towers

This magnificent sixteenth-century villa, set amidst the green countryside, under the Tuscan sun, is a dream spot for a large family get together, or an escape for a group of friends. 

Opulence is the name of the game here, and we were immediately seduced by this home’s charm. Firstly, its setting is truly idyllic, with stunning vistas of rolling green hills, punctuated by dark and majestic cypress trees. Evenings are particularly enchanting, and you’ll no doubt find yourself organising elegant suppers and aperitivos, with the glow of the setting sun as your backdrop. The covered, outdoor dining area invites those communal feasts, with the laid-back, dolce-far-niente vibe. In the heat of the afternoon sun, you can cool yourself in the lovely swimming pool, and work on your tan on one of the sun loungers dotted around. 

The inside of the villa is a stunning mélange of classic Italian style with modern comfort. We love the incredible attention to detail with which the interior has been decorated, and you’ll find yourself wandering around these rooms, admiring the art and the unique pieces scattered about. There is more than enough space to lounge about, with comfy sofas and chairs, and you can also enjoy sumptuous indoor feasts in the large dining room. 

The luxurious feeling continues into the bedrooms, which are plush, spacious, and stylishly decorated, with comfy beds carrying the promise of restful sleep. 
Wake up to the sound of the birds outside, and plan your day of exploring the countryside while enjoying a cup of freshly brewed Italian coffee on your terrace. 


Mascarpone

On the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, bask in the Tuscan sun while sipping chilled wine and nibbling juicy, Italian olives. This medieval plaza is set in the heart of the walled city of Lucca, where royalty and silk traders have mingled throughout hundreds of years of history. Just a five-minute walk from this quaint square, you can take a trip back in time and stay at your very own royal lodgings. Once a 15th-century stable belonging to Lord Guinigi, this converted palace has been renovated into a charming apartment that’s a perfect base for exploring Lucca. On the very edge of the walled city, its salmon-pink exterior stands out among the scenery. Head inside to find a sophisticated lounge with a soft blue-and-white colour scheme, along with large garden-facing windows making it feel bright and calm. You’ll experience the same serene ambiance in the master bedroom, with its Chinoiserie headboard, red sash curtain, and stunning tiled ensuite. It’s a similar story of decadence in the second bedroom, with a vaulted ceiling, chic armoire, and gold accents. Step out to the courtyard for a negroni at sunset, or enjoy a mid-afternoon snooze on the sunlounger after a few proseccos.

Cantucci

Finding an exquisite palazzo in the heart of Lucca’s walled city is special. To bag a place with a garden and terrace to boot? Now that's a rare thing. Inside, the design-savvy interiors are impressive, and there’s heaps of space to spill out across the three bedrooms, each offering a private bathroom. It’s worth noting this home does not accept children under eight years old – so you’ll need to leave little ones at home for this Tuscan adventure. Location-wise, all the iconic landmarks are just a stroll away. The only thing this home is missing is private parking (not uncommon in Lucca). But with street parking close by, we can let that slide.

The Rose & The Palazzo

Experience all the splendour of the beautiful Renaissance city of Lucca with a stay at this elegant and bright apartment, situated right in the heart of the historical centre. You’ll need only to look out of the huge windows to admire the breathtaking cityscape before you, with those iconic terracotta roofs and towering church spires. 

While the location and views on offer would be enough to warrant a heartfelt recommendation, this apartment’s own merits are just as spectacular as its surroundings. Enter to be welcomed by a huge light-filled living area, featuring a plush L-shaped sofa, lovely lighting fixtures and a beautiful set of shelves, filled with unique objects and books. This space invites you to kick back and relax with an evening of wine and movies, in great company. The whole party can enjoy delicious meals which can be easily rustled up in the modern and well-equipped kitchen. 

For a night of sweet repose head over to the bedroom – you’ll have a choice between two equally luxurious ones – where a soft double bed and lovely ambience carry the promise of restful sleep.

After breakfast and some freshly brewed coffee in the morning venture out to explore this unique city. You’ll find yourself in the perfect spot from which all the main landmarks can be easily reached on foot –  just one minute away lies both the Via Fillungo and Piazza Anfiteatro, and a further four minutes walk will take you to Piazza Napoleone, Piazza San Michele and the San Martino Cathedral.
