Tucked away amid olive groves in the Tuscan hills, this stunning villa ticks every box. It’s in Palaia, within easy reach of all of Tuscany’s most popular sights and cities, including Florence, Pisa and Lucca. Here, you’re perfectly placed for day trips full of history and culture – not to mention the wonderful vineyards nearby. 

The villa is a real beauty. It dates back to the 10th century, with the turret being added in the 16th century. From the main bedroom within the turret, you can enjoy magnificent views of the rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside. Hectares of olive groves surround the home, giving it a tranquil and secluded feel. You’ll find yourself relaxing as soon as you arrive, whether you plan on spending your time swimming in the private pool, sunbathing on the terrace, or dining beneath the pergola. The barbecue and wood-burning oven make alfresco dining a breeze, but you could always book a private chef or a local cooking class if you really want to wow your guests.

Maintaining its original stone structure, this refurbished farmhouse is a traditional gem in the middle of emerald green hills. Split into three apartments – two on the ground floor, the other upstairs – as well as a separate annexe, this flexible home offers a choice of independent spaces to suit a group. Swim a few laps of the private pool surrounded by centuries-old olive groves, cypresses and rose bushes, and just take in the tranquillity of the setting. Later, take a walk in the organic vegetable garden to pick fresh produce for lunch. A large outdoor table shaded by white umbrellas makes for the perfect spot to dine with views of the Tuscan landscape. In the evening, have cocktails in the moonlit garden, or head indoors to relax on the plush white sofas in the main living room. We love the stunning chandeliers, vintage beds and faux fur rugs that lend this rustic home an air of luxury.

Already built by the 17th century, according to the Medici maps drawn up then, this medieval borghi might even be decades older. Though we're unsure of its age, there's no doubt of its beauty. The interior with exposed beams and brick is what you'd expect from an older home, but the traditional style might feel dated to some. Still, it's comfortable and charming, giving way to a sweeping garden. Kids will love the opportunity to run around on the lush green grass whilst adults take advantage of the sun loungers, poolside and terrace seating. Our favourite is the dining table under the vine-covered pergola. You'll find the renowned spas of Casciana Terme or Monsummano Terme minutes away.

Tuscan Essence

Located on a hilltop in Tuscany, this former farm shed is surrounded by olive groves and rows of vines. While it may not be the most luxurious home in our collection – some areas feel a little dated – with a sunny pool area, a patio for alfresco dining and good road links to tourist hotspots like Pisa and Florence, we still think it has plenty to offer. There are a lot of steps here, as well as a partially open staircase, so it may not be the best option for those with young children or reduced mobility.

Explore Tuscany in a true, romantic fashion at this countryside home. Stone walls, beamed ceilings, traditional furniture, and a grand fireplace come together to create a cosy and warm atmosphere, welcoming you from the moment you arrive. Inside, you'll find a huge kitchen (perfect for practising gnocchi-making skills with your loved ones), billiard table and vast entertaining space, with an array of charming en-suite bedrooms at the top of the terracotta staircase. Outside, there's a beautiful portico for alfresco lunches and dinners, and a stunning swimming pool lined in sky-blue tiles – it even has its own hydromassage area. Kids will spend endless hours entertaining themselves with the slide and swing set, while adults can climb the external stone staircase to sip sundowners on the small terrace where the old watchtower once was.

Nestled in the picturesque Tuscan countryside, this converted farmhouse boasts a private pool overlooking the hills and a sunny terrace, perfect for alfresco meals or relaxing on the comfortable daybed. The home comprises a villa sleeping eight and a self-contained annex for four, so it’s a great choice for groups wanting to share outdoor spaces while having a bit of extra privacy inside. When it comes to location, you’re in a great spot for exploring, with the traditional village of Palaia nearby and the city of Pisa, with its famous leaning tower, just 15 kilometres away.

Set within an ancient hamlet and surrounded by the rolling hills of Tuscany, this farmhouse-style villa is a slice of la dolce vita indeed. The main villa is a vision of Tuscan charm with old hearths and a huge kitchen fit for rustic feasts. Myriad lounges and living rooms allow the group to spread out. Outside, a state-of-the-art barbecue is accompanied by a stone prep area and though there are many spots to dine outside, our favourite is poolside where curtains billow. And what a pool it is – the infinity edge overlooking the Tuscan countryside. Exploring the area, San Miniato is 10km away and day trips to Lucca and Pisa are on the cards, both 48km away.

Elegant and attractive, this home boasts a peaceful location in the green hills of the Valdera Valley, southeast of Pisa. It feels a million miles from the hustle and bustle, but it’s close to the restaurants and shops of the village of Palaia. You can also easily visit Volterra and San Gimignano – if you can tear yourselves away from the private pool, that is. The south-facing terrace is a real suntrap, and you can dine alfresco thanks to the barbecue and pizza oven. There’s a main house and a converted barn, making this home ideal for a couple of families travelling together.

Plus, it’s a fantastic base for exploring the region. From here, it’s possible to drive to Volterra, San Gimignano and Pisa. There’s also a great pizza restaurant just a short walk away.

With a main villa and multiple apartments with separate kitchens and living areas, there are plenty of private spaces if you’re visiting as a large group. For socialising altogether, you’ll find multiple spots around the gardens, with shaded terraces, alfresco dining spaces, a children’s playground, an outdoor exercise area and a private pool. This 18th-century farmhouse is on the traditional side, so expect some older features, though we think that’s part of the charm of this home. Conveniently located between Valdera, Volterra, San Gimignano, and Pisa, you’ll be able to make the most of the Tuscan countryside and vineyards here.

Perfect for family gatherings, this home is nestled between Florence and Pisa, just outside the village of Palaia. Despite its traditional style, the interiors are cosy, although the garden is certainly the highlight. The seasonal pool takes centre stage, while the terrace has ample room for dining alfresco. A sixteenth-century villa in the hilly outskirts of Florence that, at times, has been both a stables and a nightclub, Thermae is one of the most spectacular places we’ve seen in Italy. Its restoration has been a labour of love for the host, Giovanni, and the way that he’s incorporated technology into the original structure is simply impressive. There’s too much to describe here, but know that everything's been taken care of. And if we did have to choose one thing that stood out, it might have to be the pool, hidden away in the vaults, and only accessible through a trapdoor.

This beautifully renovated farmhouse sits amid the rolling hills of Tuscany, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. It’s a peaceful home, where you’ll start to relax within moments of arriving. The private pool boasts wonderful green views, as does the well-kept garden. A barbecue and wood-burning stove make dining alfresco a delight, and the old barn has been converted into an enclosed veranda. Inside the villa, you’ll find an inviting blend of the contemporary and the rustic. Perfect for large groups, this villa has plenty of space.

Amidst the stunning landscape of Tuscany, this impressive Art Nouveau residence perfectly embodies the magic of Italian living. Days here can be spent lounging by the pool, soaking in the views and savouring delicious drinks on the terrace. There’s a barbecue and a wood-fired pizza oven and you’ll find plenty of space to socialise both outside and inside. It’s also the ideal base for explorations across the region. From here, it’s possible to drive to Florence, Pisa and Lucca. Plus, it’s just a short drive to the nearest amenities in Peccioli.

Sitting in the middle of rolling Tuscan hills, this home might look like a single villa from the outside, but it's actually two self-contained apartments, each with its own living room, kitchen and bathrooms. If you're two large families travelling together in need of a little privacy at certain moments, this is a very elegant solution.

We're happy to say that each section is as handsome as the other, with plenty of traditional Tuscan architectural features to be spotted, such as terracotta flooring, wooden ceiling beams and rustic fireplaces. Where the address really impresses, however, is the communal outdoor space. Here, you've got everything from a long swimming pool blessed with stunning views of the verdant Valdera landscape to a wealth of terraces with alfresco seating and a stone barbecue for whipping up hearty feasts. Time your visit right and visitors are rewarded with the heady scent of roses as the well-maintained garden comes into bloom.

Even though the surroundings look perfectly rural at first glance, there's plenty to see in the surrounding area. Beaches on Italy's west coastline take about forty minutes to reach in the car, as does the city of Pisa. Florence is an hour and a half's drive too, so close enough for a day trip.



Beautiful Country

Breathtaking views, a private pool and a wonderful sense of tradition – this home sets the tone for a magical stay in Tuscany. Outside, you can soak it all in from the terrace or while sipping drinks in the pool house. There’s also an indoor bar, a professional kitchen, a cosy living room with a piano and five thoughtfully designed bedrooms. It might be hard to leave this sanctuary, but it’s just a short drive to the medieval village of San Miniato, while Florence and Lucca are also within driving distance.

Nestled on a wine-producing estate in the heart of Tuscany, this traditional villa is built for grand gatherings. There's an extensive garden with not one but two pools, as well as a sprawling terrace that has alfresco feasts written all over it. With ten bedrooms, ten bathrooms, and an array of cosy lounges, there's more than enough room indoors to spread out. The design is a little dated, but we think there's a certain charm to it. And we can't forget the views. Tuscany's rolling countryside beckons from every angle. When you're ready to explore, you'll find Pisa, Florence, Palaia, and Volterra all within easy driving distance.

There’s also a separate annexe away from the main home with its own bedroom, bathroom and kitchen for those who prefer to have a little more privacy. It’s outside where the magic really happens though – step out into the lush gardens where you’ll find a gorgeous pool with sun loungers primed beneath a shady pergola and play equipment for the little ones. With Pisa also just thirty minutes away by car, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained in and away from home. After a relaxing day by the pool, sit down to an alfresco barbecue meal with a cicada song soundtrack and a luminous backdrop of stars.
