This farmhouse sits in a picturesque spot overlooking the Mugello valley, just outside the village of Vicchio di Mugello and its lake. The garden is perfect for outdoor meals and days in the sun, with a barbecue and sweeping countryside views. Inside, it’s been kept suitably rustic with wood-beamed ceilings, tiled floors, and a cosy living room with a fireplace. It's worth bearing in mind there's no wi-fi, but it’s a great chance to unplug. You can walk into Vicchio in about twenty minutes for restaurants, bars, and cafes. Or if you decide to rent a car, Florence is only an hour away – so it’s a peaceful base, yet still close to the city.

This one-time hunting lodge has been painstakingly restored and fitted with many of the things you could need for a relaxing and memorable stay in a unique setting. 
Step into the lovingly maintained interiors of this home and feel as though you've been transported back to a bygone era, appreciating the old-world atmosphere as you find yourself surrounded by blissful views over the countryside. 

Spend long, sun-soaked days in the garden, the grounds of which are filled with ancient trees, fragrant flowers and bathed in the inimitable light that characterises this part of Italy, before retreating into the huge living areas of the villa to sip a pre-dinner Aperol Spritz as the sun sets. Then, having prepared something delicious to eat in the authentic terracotta-tiled kitchen, why not enjoy the fruits of your labour in the grand dining room, spending quality time together over some truly delicious morels of regional produce?

Like A Fine Merlot

In the green hills of Mugello, this villa offers the peace and tranquillity of the countryside but is just a forty-minute drive from Florence. Head to Italy’s capital of culture to explore the endless collections of the Ufizzi and dine overlooking the Ponte Vecchio. 

The home itself is traditionally stone-built, with the wooden ceilings on show, an old hearth in the dining room and the farm’s well still on display. Sprawling grounds house a swimming pool with a view over the rolling hills beyond, and a rustic-style loggia for outdoor dining – perfect when you're serving something cooked with fresh vegetables straight from the home's veggie patch. The stone-built, wood-fired barbecue is ideal for summer evenings. 

Apart from Tuscan farmhouse tradition, inside you’ll find some vintage touches like a wireless radio from the early 20th century, and antique furnishings. The old kitchen has been preserved with museum-like care (with a traditional bread over that still works), but the modern kitchen is a sleek, professional affair with slate-grey units and a huge island at its core. 

The town of Scarperia e San Piero is a four-minute drive away to stock up on supplies and there’s even a country restaurant just behind this home if you don’t fancy driving.


Gates of Paradise

Nestled in the picturesque Val di Sieve, this centuries-old villa radiates Tuscan charm. Sure, the interiors are traditional and the outdoor areas could use a spruce up, but if you're after space and character, you can't go wrong. All eyes will be on the vine-covered terrace, perfect for dining alfresco and enjoying the views. There's also a seasonal swimming pool, a games room, and many nooks and crannies to curl up in with a book or glass of regional wine. You're a bit far from shops and restaurants here – the nearest is about 4 kilometres away – but walking trails are on your doorstep. Florence is also a 45-kilometre drive if you fancy a day trip.

Hearth & Vine

This charming apartment is in the old town of Colle di Val d'Elsa, a typically medieval region of Tuscany famous for crystal glass production. It’s a ten-minute stroll into the centre where you’ll find restaurants, cafés and archaeological museums beyond the ancient town walls. Further afield, the city of Siena is a half-hour drive away, ideal for a day trip.

The apartment itself is housed in a striking 16th-century building just outside the bridge that leads to il Castello. Wood beams on display hark back to the building’s roots, but the decor is decidedly modern. Vibrant modern art is displayed above the plush, L-shaped sofa and the kitchen is a sleek space of white cabinets. The best bit is the view from French-style windows, which shows off golden fields and hills, even though you’re a short walk from the town centre.

Beyond the Bridge

A peaceful slice of Tuscan life awaits at this traditional farmhouse with its own annex, set among rolling hills and green gardens. Just a 45-minute trip from Florence, you can balance days of art, shopping, and city buzz with quiet evenings under the gazebo or cooking in the pizza oven. At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on a sofa bed in the annex – perfect for a little extra privacy. With a small pool for cooling off and plenty of sunshine, this is classic Tuscany at its most tranquil.

Country Garden Villa

In the folds of the hills, this home is all about those Tuscan sunsets. Catch the golden hour, as the sun dips below the forest-clad hills, from the terrace where curtains frame the view and dining by candlelight is a delight. Days can be spent drifting from one terrace lounge to another, or swimming laps in the pool – the sun hits the water throughout the day.
