Boasting plenty of charm, there are plenty of beautiful places to unwind, whether you want to stretch out in front of the fireplace or settle down in the master suite’s lounge with your holiday read. 

We are fairly certain you'll spend most of your time in the gardens – swimming in the pristine pool, soaking up the Tuscan sun from the poolside loungers, enjoying indulgent spreads of burrata, sweet Italian tomatoes and local charcuteries at the outdoor dining room, preparing crispy pizzas in the terrace pizza oven for your loved ones, and finally, sipping Sangiovese on the plump outdoor sofas come sunset – bliss.

Despite its quiet location, the area is surrounded by rolling vineyards, medieval hamlets and breathtaking lakes, such as Lago di Massaciuccoli, a short drive away. We suggest a trip to the birthplace of Madame Butterfly and Tosca – Puccini’s former home and now a museum displaying the composer’s works.

This apartment is just 300 metres from the beach in Viareggio. So you only need to walk five minutes to bag a lounger on the sand and spend the day paddling in the Ligurian Sea. It’s easy to pop back to the apartment for forgotten towels. Within the charming Liberty-style streets around you, there are myriad pizzerias and seafood restaurants for dining and cafes for espresso in the morning.

The apartment itself is an ideal city bolthole. Intricately carved teak furniture gives the open living room a Balinese calm feel and floor-to-ceiling corner windows keep things feeling light. The kitchen is sleek and modern, tucked away at the back and you can choose between the breakfast bar or dining table to uncork a bottle of local Sangiovese for social evenings in. We love the bedroom with the powder-blue feature wall and art nouveau paintings.

If day trips are on the agenda, the Tuscan coast is a twelve-minute drive away, and you can reach the Medieval town of Lucca in twenty-three minutes. It’s worth noting that the second bathroom here is on the lower-ground floor, which has a separate entrance, accessed from outside.

But, if you're keen to enjoy a more relaxed pace, there's plenty to appreciate back home, too. The private terrace and small garden are perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine in the fresh air. Indoors, there's a cosy living room, a well-equipped kitchen, and three comfortable bedrooms – although air conditioning is only available in the hallway. We think it makes a great option for a Tuscan seaside retreat.
