This rustic villa with a private Jacuzzi, sauna, and pool has charm and green shutters in spades. Though the interiors may feel dated, we can forgive that for its outstanding location. Set in a peaceful suburb of Lucca (10km), there are restaurants and shops within walking distance, and Pisa, Florence, and the coastal resort of Viareggio are all within easy reach for day trips. Perfect for three couples wanting to holiday together without crowding each other, each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. It's worth noting though only one of the bedrooms has air-conditioning, so you'll need to pull straws for that. 

Wild Lucca

Not only does this villa come with the most heavenly outdoor space, but it's rich with 16th-century character and country elegance. It's set at the top of a hill with awe-inspiring views, best appreciated from the heated indoor jetted pool or through the grand windows. Wake up in regal bedrooms that exude vintage, country-style luxury and throw open the lofty French windows and doors for views of the rolling hills all around you. After breakfast in one of the many glamorous dining areas, have a soak or a sweat in your private spa, sauna and gym before heading to the spectacular outdoor swimming pool. Sunny days will pass in a blur of lounging, chatting and snacking on produce from local stores, while evenings are destined for homemade pizza in the wood oven, drinking local wine and living la dolce vita in your paradisiacal surrounds. If you can tear yourself away from this dream home, we recommend taking a drive to the village of Collodi with its Pinocchio’s Park – Collodi is the hometown of the writer that created the character. The medieval city of Lucca is also a short drive away, offering incredible architecture, food and rich history.

Apollo's Seat

Experience the Tuscan dream at this apartment in a restored 14th-century farmhouse. It’s situated in a private estate set among olive groves in the hills above Lucca. You can enjoy the stunning valley views from the private terrace. Or relax by the shared pool in the beautiful communal gardens overlooking the medieval village of San Gennaro. Inside this two-level home, you’ll find traditional interiors with features such as chestnut beams and terracotta floors. When you want to explore the area, visit scenic Lucca, a short drive away. Or go for a twenty-minute walk up the hill to the village of San Gennaro for local dining options.


Olive Grove Vistas

This rural palace, tucked away in a quiet hamlet half an hour from Lucca, is like two homes in one. Such is the contacting styles between the authentic basement and the modern luxury of the ground floor, you'll feel like you've wandered into a new home. 

The idyllic outdoor space is the perfect blend of the two, providing a rustic vibe tinged with deluxe furnishings. Where you spend most of your time depends on your mood and the weather. 

During sunny, summer days, while away the hours in the dreamy space around the pool. Tropical plant life faces into fresh water, creating an exotic oasis, kissed by the summer rays. 

When the months turn cold and you fancy a snug setting, the basement is a restful haven. Rustic, wooden furniture is encompassed by stone walls and a tiled floor. It's an intimate spot to gather for meal times, sharing homemade spaghetti in your secret bunker.

If you fancied exploring beyond your tranquil abode, the cobbled streets of Lucca are just half an hour away. Find cute cafes, vintage wine stores and traditional restaurants. 




Due Casa

From its elevated position in the verdant hills of Valdinievole, this home offers stunning views and all the essentials you could need for a blissful Italian break. There’s a private pool for refreshing swims and a gazebo with an outdoor kitchen for alfresco dining. You’ll also find plenty to keep the whole family entertained with a children’s playground, a ping pong table and an indoor games area. The rooms are simple, fresh and thoughtfully designed to inspire relaxation. Plus, it’s in a fantastic location. From here, it’s just a short drive to the famous spa town of Montecatini, while Florence and Lucca are also within driving distance. 

Seeing Serenity

Blessed with an isolated spot in the Tuscan hills, there's something rather tranquil about this home and you're sure to find it easy to relax, whether you're splashing about in the swimming pool, cooking up dinner in the summer kitchen or simply admiring the beautiful views.

There's a lot to like about the home itself, too. Dating back to the 17th century and spending much of its life as a farmhouse, the living quarters are understandably a little traditional – note the stone archways, wooden ceiling beams and terracotta tiling underfoot. There are some more contemporary aspects though, including the recently renovated kitchen and Jacuzzi bathtub.

When it comes to getting to know Tuscany a little better, the town of Montecatini Terme is only 10km and has nine thermal spas to visit. A little further afield, the Renaissance-era architecture of Lucca is 30km away, while Viareggio's beach is 55km from the home – close enough for a day trip or two, we'd say.

A Little Bit of Me-Time

Tranquil doesn’t even begin to describe this wonderful apartment. It’s tucked away in the hills above Bagni di Lucca, in a tiny village that’s quiet even in the height of summer. You’ll share the grounds and outdoor pool with four villas, but there’s plenty of space. Stunning views can be admired from almost every angle here, with far-reaching vistas of the surrounding hills and forests. The apartment is rustic in style, with exposed stone walls and terracotta floor tiles. It’s the perfect retreat for a romantic getaway. 

Italian Stone

In the hills between Lucca and Florence, this homely apartment is the perfect spot for an Italian holiday. Butter yellow walls and sheer white curtains that let the sun shine through make the bedrooms a cheerful place to wake up. Have some breakfast on the terrace to take in sprawling views of Tuscany’s rolling hills, before heading down to spend the day in the lush garden. Swim a few laps of the shared pool, or just relax under the pergola, surrounded by olive groves and grapevines. In the evening, head back to your cosy abode, where wooden ceiling beams, exposed stone walls and antique furnishings lend an old-world charm – there's even a classic cherub fresco in the main bedroom. To end the day, open a bottle of local wine and have a family-style meal in the kitchen, where a six-seater dining table ensures there’s plenty of space for sous-chefs to hang out.

Set on a paved road amidst its private vineyards rests this secluded spot in the heart of Tuscany. Picture yourself soaking up blissful vistas of the region's rolling hills from by the pool or shaded alfresco dining area. Equipped with its own diving board, the pool area stays lit during the evenings as poolside lanterns line the patio on one side while comfy day beds line up along the other. The garden's stone walls ensure privacy and seclusion when relaxing outside, while stunning original features inside guarantee a quintessentially Tuscan experience. Terracotta tiles and stone walls have been given a modern twist with warm, neutral-toned rugs and sofas in the living room, bringing home comforts to an otherwise relatively traditionally designed space. Classic artwork and antique furniture add heaps of personality while soft, high-quality cushions and decorative finishing touches throughout the bedrooms make for a plush and well-balanced stay. Located just a two-minute walk away from the Villa Torrigiani Estate – the only baroque Villa in Tuscany, you'll be staying on what used to be the old farm to the iconic villa which was once the residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Lucca to the King Louis XIV's court in Versailles. The Villa Torrigiani Estate is well worth a visit for its manicured gardens, grand interiors and fascinating history alone. With the nearest village and its shops and grocery stores just a five-minute drive away– convenience is key, and you'll be on your way to sampling some of the local delicacies in no time. Did we mention the wine? You'll be staying on a property with its own vineyard, after all. From here, you'll also be well-positioned for visiting the historic town of Lucca – just a twenty-minute drive away as well as the region's local beaches, which are reachable from the house in thirty-five minutes.

The Winemaker's Neighbour

Many illustrious figures throughout history have made Tuscany what it is today. From Leonardo da Vinci to Galileo, their masterpieces and works have shaped the region, drawing us in with a thirst for exploration and experience. The landscape is dotted with works of art in the form of cities like Florence, and the hillsides are so untainted it’s as if they’ve been captured by an artist on canvas forever. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and we can’t think of a better phrase to describe this home. Windows, doorways and shutters seize the views of Tuscany from every possible angle, providing snapshots of the world outside like moving pictures. There’s a level of luxury in this home which mirrors the stately historical architecture, making you feel as if you’ve stepped into the shoes of Italian society. And what better way to honour those who have come before, than by engaging in the tradition of an aperitivo in the garden before dinner? Saluti.

Inside, you'll find 19th-century antiques and ceiling frescoes – and while this may not appeal to the modernists among you, the place has that quintessential Tuscan charm that we can’t get enough of. Taking advantage of the glorious weather couldn’t be easier thanks to the alfresco dining terrace and seating area, and when you need to cool off, there’s a private pool. Location-wise, Montecatini Terme is within easy driving distance, but if you fancy exploring further afield, Pisa is our day-trip destination of choice.

However you choose to spend your time here, every moment promises to be enriched by the unique charm of this location. 

From here, days can be spent sightseeing in Montecatini Alto, indulging the senses with spa treatments in Montecatini Terme (4 km away) or simply exploring the countryside on foot or by bike. And for explorations further afield, take day trips to the majestic cities of Florence, Pisa or Lucca (all within driving distance).
