Inside this apartment, you can watch gondolas passing on the canal or take in the vistas over the terracotta rooftops. We love the vistas of Venice from this apartment. You can see a large number of sights without leaving home – how amazing is that? From the Bacino San Marco and the Lido, to San Servolo, and San Lazzaro degli Armeni, it's all there waiting to be admired. But that's not all – you can also see San Giorgio, the Punta Della Dogana and the beginning of the Grand Canal and more. We can imagine experiencing the Redentore Festival and New Year's Eve here, watching the wonderful show of boats and fireworks on the lagoon. 

This place is great for entertaining – there are two large sofas to accommodate everyone easily in the living room. The space has traditional terrazzo floors and prints depicting Venetian scenery. Or head to the library and read a book if you want some peace and quiet.

We'd encourage at least one early morning wake-up call to take in the changing colours as the sun rises, while a sunset Prosecco goes down a treat at the end of a long day of exploring. Once you've disembarked the water taxi and climbed the stairs to the front door, you'll be greeted by a seamless mix of original features and contemporary design. It’s just a five-minute walk to the Biennale Gardens, an area created by Napoleon at the beginning of the nineteenth century, while St Mark’s Square and the Rialto Bridge are just fifteen minutes on foot. This apartment is situated in an excellent spot for exploring Venice. Piazza San Marco, Rialto Bridge, and Campo San Giovanni e Paolo are all a short walk away. The historic building even has its own bridge over the canal, so you'll only need to open the windows to admire the gondolas passing by. As far as design, it's super stylish. We love the mix of old and new, as well as the patterned wallpaper in the bedrooms. Two guests will sleep on a sofa bed, but in such a central location, that's a decent compromise.

How's that for a view? Looking directly out over St. Mark's Basilica and Square and with the water in the background, you wouldn't be blamed for spending a sizeable portion of your trip on the balcony here. Don't snub the interior, though – there are several nooks you can break off into, meaning it's perfect for two couples who might want some alone time. If you're a family, the two single beds, both on the smaller side, are ideal for kids. And when you want to explore, the excellent location means you'll find things to do in all directions.

You can see so much of Venice without leaving this spot. There's a list of sights as long as your arm – we're talking Bacino San Marco, the Lido, San Servolo, San Lazzaro degli Armeni, and San Giorgio, which hosts Fondazione Cini. Hold on – we have to catch our breath – ok, you can also see the Compagnia della Vela and Giudecca, as well as Punta Della Dogana, the beginning of the Grand Canal and more. 

During the Redentore Festival and New Year's Eve, you can watch the wonderful show of boats and fireworks on the lagoon – this place is truly unique. That's not all of the outdoor space – there's a lovely vine-covered terrace at the back, too.

Inside, you'll find polished wood floors and characterful beams, as well as more of those fabulous views from the living room. We love that the bedroom opens out onto the terrace – perfect for morning coffees. Just note that the bathroom has low ceilings.

This apartment's location is fantastic, too. Nearby, a water taxi stop and the Vaporetto stop "Arsenale" will take you to Piazzale Roma, Santa Lucia train station, Rialto Bridge and Marco Polo Airport. For everyday essentials, there's a well-stocked supermarket, a five-minute walk from this incredible home.

They’ve been carefully restored by the current owners, who’ve retained the charm and beauty of this Venetian home while ensuring guests can enjoy modern comforts. Stepping into the grand salon, with its 18-foot frescoed ceilings and impressive paintings, you get a taste of the Venice of the past. The apartment overlooks the canal to one side, and the palazzo’s private garden on the other. It’s in the heart of the Castello district, just a short walk from Piazza San Marco. There’s a Vaporetto stop nearby, so seeing the rest of the sights is a breeze.

In a quiet street between the Castello and San Marco districts, this apartment is located within a historic building. While the home is compact and has low ceilings, it certainly has charm and character. The open living and bedroom spaces merge – so this home may be best suited to families with older children. Fancy some fresh air? Where better to have a  negroni, than on the communal terrace overlooking the canal? With plenty of restaurants within walking distance – you'll have lots of choices. That said, the supermarket is just a two-minute walk away, so you can brush up on your pasta skills.

What's a Venetian home without a canal view? This single-floor home in the heart of San Marco allows you to watch the gondolas go past from the living room window, while the garden view in three of the bedrooms offers some serenity. We felt the interior is a little parred back here, but the wooden beams overhead are a nice touch. There is limited seating in the living room, so at capacity, you might be more motivated to take advantage of the proximity to landmarks like the Piazza San Marco. And come dinnertime, you'll find several eateries within 100 yards of your front door.

You can arrive by boat here, with Fondamente Nuove, just steps away. The interiors are considered, with plenty of space for your cohort – the central dining room is the heart of this apartment and where we imagine you’ll share memorable meals. Keep in mind this is a central location, so noise is to be expected, though the artfully-designed bedrooms make falling asleep feel somewhat luxurious.
