On the top floor of a 16th-century palace right on the Grand Canal, this one-of-a-kind apartment enjoys bespoke furnishings from a range of designers, including the owner. While not the best option for families with young children due to the vintage and delicate furniture, it's a great choice for couples or solo travellers. The central location is the icing on the cake – the views over Santa Maria dei Frari are lovely. The train station is a short walk away and you're right next to a water taxi stop. Plus, there are bars and restaurants nearby.

This handsome apartment in Venice is the perfect reflection of the city surrounding it. Elegant and traditional, just a short stroll away from many of the most famous attractions, it's a wonderful place to begin your break in the Floating City.

We recommend resting your feet by seeing the sights from the water though – you’re in Venice after all. Rialto and Sant’Angelo vaporetto stops are nearby, so you can zip around the canals with ease. The home itself is traditional and fairly grand – you can look forward to Murano chandeliers and terrazzo flooring. With a building this old, you won’t find a lift, so it’s best to pack light.

There's a lot to love about this dreamy apartment in the heart of Venice. With plenty of character, an excellent location, and a wonderful outdoor space, it's the perfect place to unwind between your adventures in the Floating City. 

The flat is part of a building dating back to the 16th century, and a lot of its historic charm remains. The antique furniture and wooden beams will make you feel right at home, and the serene bedrooms will help you have a great night's sleep. However, the best bit has to be the garden – a space like this is such a treat in the city centre, This leafy sanctuary is the perfect place to sip your morning espresso or relax with a glass of prosecco at the end of a busy day exploring.

From here, you can walk to the Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari in around five minutes – it's one of Venice's most renowned churches. You can also hop on a water bus at the nearby vaporetto stop, San Toma, to see the city from the canals. From here, days can be spent strolling the cobbled streets and ticking off all the major sights. The home lacks a proper living area, so we recommend it for those who want to drop off their bags and get out exploring right away. It's also worth noting that the double sofa bed sleeps up to two guests, although space is limited so we suggest a maximum of three guests.

The apartment is a grand family home, with traditional touches like the wood-beamed ceilings. It’s on the fourth floor, and from the windows you can see a pretty skyscape of Venetian rooftops all the way to the Grand Canal. Even more amazingly for Venice, this building has an elevator so those four floors are no trouble at all. 

Take your morning coffee on the balcony, then head out to explore the city. The Vaporetto stop at Santa Maria del Giglio is five minutes from the apartment, so it’s easy to get out on the lagoon. The glorious views from Ponte dell’Accademia can be found just five minutes away, while Piazza San Marco is a ten-minute stroll. Rialto Bridge is nine minutes from the apartment – stroll across it with a gelato for a cheeky touristy moment. 

Calle XXII Marzo, an upmarket avenue of high-end boutiques, is just seven minutes from the apartment. Whether you’re flashing the cash or window shopping, it’s worth a wander. 

However you spend your time in Venice, you’ll be glad to be doing so here. This apartment is comfortable and bright, and in an unbeatable location.

Experience the best of the Floating City from this gorgeous canalside Cannaregio apartment. Impeccably decorated in typically Venetian style, expect stunning period features, elegant furnishings and the occasional antique piece within its 16th-century walls.

In addition to the calming forest green colour scheme and tall windows that invite plenty of natural light in, we particularly loved the ingenious secret door leading to the en suite bathroom.

Your third-floor vantage point offers views over a buzzing piazza and imposing clock tower to one side and an elevated vantage point over a canal to the other. Venice is unusual in that there's no car traffic here. Instead, you can open up the windows and take in the many traditional sounds of the city, including church bells, bustling street markets, and gondoliers singing as they cruise by.

The location is ideal – not even five minutes from Rialto bridge, so you won't have to lug your bags too far, while the likes of St Mark's Square and the characterful streets of the Jewish Quarter are approximately ten minutes on foot.

When you're not out exploring, your host has provided some stunning coffee table books so you can appreciate the city through a photographer's lens and perhaps pick up a few pointers to elevate your usual holiday snaps.

We'd encourage at least one early morning wake-up call to take in the changing colours as the sun rises, while a sunset Prosecco goes down a treat at the end of a long day of exploring. Once you've disembarked the water taxi and climbed the stairs to the front door, you'll be greeted by a seamless mix of original features and contemporary design. The interior offers an irresistible blend of exposed beams, ornate antique furniture and intricate wood mosaic flooring alongside a Scandinavian-inspired kitchen and modern artwork. But with dreamy postcard-perfect windows and a location that puts you a five-minute stroll from the Gallerie dell'Accademia, this home ticks a lot of boxes for a memorable Venetian stay.

Those looking for a quiet stay away from the hustle and bustle of tourist crowds will find this apartment near the Arsenal of Venice a comfortable base from which to explore the city. Though the decor is functional and the touristic art on the walls a little uninspiring, the two bedrooms are minimalist and uncluttered and the pair of bathrooms will come in handy for morning routines ahead of a busy day of sightseeing. Speaking of which, the Biennale Gardens are a five-minute walk away and a fifteen-minute stroll will bring you to St Mark’s Square and the Rialto Bridge. Alternatively, hop on a water bus from the nearby vaporetto stop to explore the wider city, Piazzale Roma and Murano Island.

Just a short walk from the Accademia Bridge and the Gallerie dell'Accademia, this smart apartment is the perfect base for exploring the beautiful, floating city of Venice. There’s a staircase without a railing up to the terrace from the living space, so this apartment may not appeal to guests with kids or those with limited mobility. If you can handle the quirkier aspects though, we think you'll appreciate the location. The transport hub of Piazzale Roma is just a seven-minute walk away, while the Guglie area, the Ghetto and Cannaregio, with its array of restaurants and bars, are a five-minute stroll from this home.

Only moments away from Piazza San Marco and Rialto Bridge, this Venetian home connects you to the beautiful city of Venice, and you’ll soon notice the many wonders right on your doorstep.
