The space is practical, with plenty of room for a couple or solo traveller. Though it could be a little brighter, we love the modern kitchen for whipping up negronis and pasta at home. That said, you’ll have your pick of Venice’s authentic eateries on your doorstep.

Guests with limited mobility should take note that this home’s building doesn’t have a lift. If that’s not a deal-breaker, you’ll love the location – the Peggy Guggenheim Museum is nearby, while getting to the Lido is easy as the Santo Spirito Vaporetto is just a short walk away.

Experience the best of the Floating City from this gorgeous canalside Cannaregio apartment. Impeccably decorated in typically Venetian style, expect stunning period features, elegant furnishings and the occasional antique piece within its 16th-century walls.

In addition to the calming forest green colour scheme and tall windows that invite plenty of natural light in, we particularly loved the ingenious secret door leading to the en suite bathroom.

Your third-floor vantage point offers views over a buzzing piazza and imposing clock tower to one side and an elevated vantage point over a canal to the other. Venice is unusual in that there's no car traffic here. Instead, you can open up the windows and take in the many traditional sounds of the city, including church bells, bustling street markets, and gondoliers singing as they cruise by.

The location is ideal – not even five minutes from Rialto bridge, so you won't have to lug your bags too far, while the likes of St Mark's Square and the characterful streets of the Jewish Quarter are approximately ten minutes on foot.

When you're not out exploring, your host has provided some stunning coffee table books so you can appreciate the city through a photographer's lens and perhaps pick up a few pointers to elevate your usual holiday snaps.

This Glass World

We love the views across Venice from this stylish apartment's large private balcony. Housed in a former thermal power plant built in the 1930s, this home has an upside-down layout. There’s a staircase without a railing up to the terrace from the living space, so this apartment may not appeal to guests with kids or those with limited mobility. If you can handle the quirkier aspects though, we think you'll appreciate the location. The transport hub of Piazzale Roma is just a seven-minute walk away, while the Guglie area, the Ghetto and Cannaregio, with its array of restaurants and bars, are a five-minute stroll from this home.

If you’re looking for something a little quirky, you’ve found it. Overlooking the famous Canale dei Greci, this cosy apartment is right in the thick of Venice’s fascinating centre, and with the water bus stop just a five-minute walk away, the city is yours to explore. The sofa bed makes this home ideal for a small family or two couples travelling together, but the highlight here has to be the living area’s glass floor, exposing an ancient well below.

When you return home from a day of wandering Venice's winding streets, enjoy a coffee out on the roof terrace and admire the city's famous waterways from above – although the steps are steep, particularly up to the roof, the view is well worth it.

This 15th-century canal-side palazzo has been designed by architect Alberto Torsello and the interior design team Zanon Associati to create a slice of Venetian paradise. Terrazzo floors, colourful frescoes and Soffitto a Cassettoni wooden ceilings are just a few of the luxurious finishings here, and the amenities are as functional as they are beautiful. Unwinding as a group feels particularly decadent, especially with a glass of Garganega wine in hand. And with a central location just moments from the Rio di Santa Fosca and Rio del Trapolin canals, you couldn’t be better placed for a Venice stay.
