If you fancy a bit of shopping, Chiado is a ten-minute stroll away – its streets are packed with chic boutiques, interesting bookshops and literary cafes. Take some snaps of the beautiful Lisbon Cathedral, a twenty-minute walk from this home, or explore São Jorge Castle, a twelve-minute saunter. Time Out Market, on the other hand, is just over ten minutes on foot – browse its shops and market vendors selling fresh food and flowers. You’ll also find over twenty restaurants and stylish music venues here (your host can make dinner reservations for you). If you don’t want to eat out, cook some local Portuguese produce from the market in the sleek kitchen – we adore this bright, open-plan space – there's a splendid socially conducive atmosphere here. This slick, multi-level apartment sits in cool and central Príncipe Real. Inside is characterful, warm, and welcoming. We’re talking hardwood floors, walls filled with bold prints in artfully mismatched frames, sleek leather sofas, and beds that wouldn’t be out of place in a high-end hotel. The kitchen has everything you would need if you weren’t dining out in one of the gazillion acclaimed restaurants that Lisbon is famous for. Get the coffee maker on and wake up leisurely, and if you can, claim the master bedroom that comes with its own balcony and city views. We love the elevated touches in this home, like the HD projector you can plug your laptop into for film night on the mezzanine. Fado-chic might be the best way to describe this home. Surrounded by artsy cafes and fado houses, Amália's interior contains several references to Portugal's musical soul. Like many older buildings in Lisbon, it doesn't have the biggest windows, so you might find yourself spending a lot of time on the closed balcony – or one of the many green spaces around Principe Real, where you can snap some of the best photos of the city.

From this apartment, visit the neo-gothic Santa Justa Lift in eleven minutes, or reach Lisbon’s historic cathedral in under twenty.

Although you might be focused on visiting every corner of this colourful city, colour really does begin at home. The bright blue exterior of your building stands out against the pink hues of neighbouring apartments, but matches the sunny skies above. And inside, the azure theme goes on beneath your feet. The streets between Jardim do Princípe Real and Avenida da Liberdade are far from touristy – the houses are populated with real Lisbon residents, who go about the business between small shops and cafes. Rainy Night is located inside a typical Portuguese townhouse, albeit one that looks a bit more scruffy on the outside – unlike the apartment. The home has a lovely view and lots of natural light, with a simple, functional design that doesn't clutter. We particularly liked the French doors and the wooden headboard in the master bedroom.

Housed in a traditional Pombaline-style building, this sunny spot in Principe Real is perfect for those exploring the city. Uncover the boutiques, bars and art galleries of neighbouring Bairro Alto, less than a fifteen minutes' walk away or go for a cultural day trip to Sao Jorge Castle, only a half-hour wander from your door. Back inside, you'll find modern and clean interiors with comfy furnishings that hark back to Portugal's historic roots, creating a cosy and homely feel from the get-go. Continue socialising over a glass of red as you cook for your guests in the open kitchen-dining area, benefitting from marble surfaces, artist lighting and stylish chairs. The home's warm colour palette (think red, orange and yellow) makes for a friendly living space where you'll enjoy relaxing after a day spent discovering this thriving city. Of course, with Lisbon's glorious climate, you'd be amiss not to have your own private balcony where you can soak up the sunshine, sip your morning espresso and watch the world go by below – so, naturally, there's a wrap-around terrace at the front and another balcony at the back of the apartment.

The views are slightly blocked by a tree, but you can always take in the quintessential Lisbon street views from the living area’s Juliet balcony. In terms of location, Avenida Liberdade and its shops, restaurants, and cafes, is close to your base in Santo António, and a stroll through Parque Eduardo VII is a must.

This modern studio flat perfectly suits a solo traveller or a couple wanting to explore Lisbon's vibrant culture and history. It's not the biggest, but it still has everything you need for a fuss-free stay in the capital, including a quaint kitchenette, super comfortable bed and sleek bathroom with a luxe rainfall shower. You can even spot the top of the Basilica da Estrela out the window – a rarity for a ground floor flat. But the best part about this place is the excellent location. Back at this apartment, take in the street views from the balcony, then whip up a feijoada (bean stew) in the modern kitchen with fresh ingredients from the market. Totally refurbished, this home has been decorated in tasteful grey hues with splashes of pattern from the zebra-style rug, and verdant green plants give the place a homely vibe. This abode is perfect for a couple, solo traveller or business professional.

In the hills of Bairro Alto, this region's steep inclines make for a well-deserved view at the top. On the way up, you’ll also find cobbled streets full of restaurants, independent boutiques, and cafés. And as this bohemian area comes particularly alive after dark, this apartment is perfectly located just two minutes from the drinking and dining spots of bustling Rua da Rosa.

But unlike some of the pink streets nearby, the facade of this home is distinctly blue. In fact, this theme continues inside too. Blue floor tiles throughout the apartment are there to remind you of the azure waters of the River Tagus. Natural wicker furniture and woven rugs replicate the sandy shores of Portugal’s many gorgeous beaches. While the decor creates a calm and down-to-earth feel throughout this bright home, your host offers an altogether more luxury experience.

They can arrange for an in-house chef, spa treatment, and have fresh breakfast delivered to your door every morning. Or if you fancy taking up a private city tour, they can send a babysitter to look after the little ones while you hit the town.

With a wooden Pombaline frame that transforms the communal area into a library, this home is an excellent option for an avid reader – the outdoor balcony will win over the rest with gorgeous views of the nearby botanical garden. While most visitors flock to the likes of Alfama and Bairro Alto, this stunning apartment is located in the heart of Principe Real. Admittedly, it's further away from the historical city centre, but its pastel-coloured mansion apartments and wide boulevards provide it with a charm all of its own. You'll find the enchanting ten-acre Jardim Botânico de Lisboa and the lush Jardim do Príncipe Real within a five-minute walk. While your capable kitchen can handle anything you can throw at/over it, you're spoiled for choice when it comes to local eateries – it's a veritable foodie heaven. Choose to chow down at A Cevicheria, where you can indulge in a light and zesty menu of citrus-cured fish and mouth-puckering pisco sours. Alternatively, Atalho Real plates up melt-in-the-mouth meat in a relaxed environment. Once you've eaten your fill, there's a tempting choice of local bars where you can keep the party going – Pavilhão Chinês serves imaginative long drinks in an old grocery store packed with flea market finds and bric-a-brac. At the same time, cult favourite Foxtrot might be reminiscent of a good old British pub, but the creative cocktail menu promises so much more.

Kick back and relax in the open-plan living room, where you’ll be able to enjoy an evening of movies or listen to records and sip some wine in the company of your loved ones. If you don’t feel like heading out for dinner, you can just as easily rustle up delicious meals in the well-equipped kitchen and share them with the rest of the party at the dining table. 

Should you have any laptop duties to catch up on, there’s also a cosy desk space here. Later head over to the comfy bedrooms, that await you with plush beds and a continuation of the lovingly curated design. Wake up feeling restored and ready for another day of city adventures.

The streets surrounding this apartment are part of Principe Real – one of the trendiest neighbourhoods in Lisbon, where new cafes crop up almost every month alongside organic markets and original clothing boutiques. Thanks to the hilltop location, this split-level home has incredible views over the Tagus River and the city's varied architecture, and the best spot to take it all in is from the balcony. Just grab a bottle of wine (your host generously leaves one for you) and take your front-row seat to gorgeous sunsets over the rooftops. When you're in the mood to cook, the kitchen has everything you need – there's also a produce market held on Saturdays in the park nearby to stock up on fresh produce. Downstairs is relaxed and cosy, with pops of bright reds and a clean, contemporary living space that's an excellent place to hang out after a busy day. We think this apartment is a great match for a family or friend group that want a vibrant locale, excellent views and easy access to transport links.

This home is a peaceful city oasis, perfect for those who want to escape the city noise. Furnished with a love for rustic elegance, it gives off a sense of fairytale glamour. Most of the furniture has been hand-picked and brought over from Indonesia by the host in search if the perfect textural patterns, giving this home a harmonious vibe in every room. While we loved the hand-carved details and the woodwork in the living room, our favourite is the traditionally paved terrace – perfect for lazy afternoon lunches. 

Fay Well

The host has made it their goal to create the epitome of fairytale glamour. His quest to find the best furniture for the job has taken him all the way to Indonesia, which is where most of the hand-carved pieces have come from – from the wood slice coffee table to the bedroom doors. This home doesn't get as much light as it deserves, but it's illuminated with well-placed lights in every room. The stone-paved terrace with a little pool is our favourite part of this home, perfect for late afternoon cocktails.

Just a stone’s throw from Avenida da Liberdade – Lisbon’s answer to the Champs-Élysées – this stylish apartment is a perfect reflection of its privileged, upscale locale. 
 
The living area stands out with its earthy tones and desert-inspired decor, inviting you to kick back and relax on the sofa with a glass of wine or gather around the dining table for homemade Portuguese feasts aplenty. 
 
The two bedrooms, meanwhile, are visions of boho elegance, with soft throws, comfortable beds and jungle-inspired colour schemes that beckon a blissful night’s sleep. Each has its own desk space too should you need to catch up on work and the bathroom just off of the living area is a luxurious marble space that beckons pampering under its rainfall shower. 
 
When it comes to things to see and do nearby, go shopping along Avenida da Liberdade (a two-minute walk) or take a ride on the Santa Justa Lift (a fourteen-minute walk). You’re also a ten-minute stroll from the Botanical Garden of Lisbon, while the historic Alfama district is twenty-five minutes away on foot.

It's impossible to talk about Evaristo's Cauldron without first mentioning the lovely host Susana, who lives in the same building and treats all guests as if they were old friends. Located in Principe Real, this home is close to all central attractions, but the immediate surroundings are fairly quiet. Even though this home is located in an old building, both the exterior and interior are impeccable. Evaristo's Cauldron preserves traditional Portuguese architectural features while ensuring that this home is comfortable, functional, and designed with a mixture of old and new chic.

It starts with the four-poster bed – the feeling that nothing in this home has been left to chance. The host has gone all the way to Indonesia in search of the perfect furniture to create the look of fairytale glamour that fits perfectly into this home. The lower floor of this home doesn't get a lot of natural light, but we liked its original features, such as the original beams in the ceiling and the stone-paved terrace, perfect for afternoon relaxation.

You can tell most of this furniture was selected with care – Pedro went all the way to Indonesia to achieve the fairytale glamour look of this home. Thanks to the exposed brickwork and vaulted ceilings, you can still see what this home looked like before the rustic transformation. The attention to detail in this home is excellent – hand-crafted bed frames and mirrors in unexpected colours help create a pleasant earthy atmosphere. Although The Fay Terrace is a small home, it has a large, traditionally paved terrace, perfect for afternoon lunches.

Taking inspiration from New Mexico and Morocco, the interior balances earthy tones, natural textures, and artisan features – it’s a city oasis. And whether you’re here with a culturally-packed itinerary, on a business excursion, or for a spontaneous city break, this is the kind of home that suits the needs of the most discerning traveller. 

The open-concept living area is swathed in natural textures, rattan and wicker furnishings, and bespoke artworks. Open up the floor-to-ceiling windows as you fire off some project notes at your sleek desk before sharing pastéis de nata on the Juliet balcony. The popular neighbourhood of Bairro Alto is just a ten-minute walk away too, with its famous steep streets and bohemian flair.

Barrio Alto’s vibrant array of restaurants, independent shops, cafés, and bars makes it one of Lisbon’s best spots for day and night. Set over a series of hills, the area might sometimes feel challenging to explore – but always worth it for a striking view. Or to make things a bit easier, you can admire the city from your own rooftop home, or the Santa Justa Lift, only eleven minutes away.

In this peaceful street, you’ll find traditional architecture and exteriors with famous Portuguese tiles and colourful facades. Your apartment building is covered in glazed blue tiles, matching beautifully with the clear blue skies. Inside, blue is a continual theme, but this time for flooring. Glide across these tiles as you admire modern, understated furniture in the living space, with woven and wicker elements completing this relaxed feel. Larousse is quite a particular home with a unique structure that's hard to find in Lisbon.  The modern minimalist furniture works well with the traditional bare bones of this typical townhouse, creating a pleasant communal area that includes a sociable kitchen. The second bedroom is located on the mezzanine and it isn't well separated from the communal area – it will only suit those who can get up the steep stairs and appreciate the open space. But you'll get to enjoy a great view and a location that will get you close to the sights and the best shops in town.

Nestled in a quiet residential street in Príncipe Real, Afterglow is a great option for visitors wanting to be somewhere central but with a peaceful, calm atmosphere. The living room is open to the kitchen and dining room and gets great natural light. We loved the views you get over the city’s rooftops – but take note, the view is earned by walking up a steep street. The apartment is comfortable and it’s in great condition, making it a lovely place to come back to after a long day of pounding the pavement.

With its open-plan kitchen and monstrous SMEG cooker boasting eight hobs, this property is perfectly equipped for anyone who loves to cook. Its private garden with outdoor dining area, which can seat fourteen, makes this basement flat ideal for dinner parties. Anyone who loves a long hot shower, be warned – the water pressure isn’t as strong as we’d like. This is made up for by its convenient location, just a five-minute ride on public transport into the city centre.

This sunny home is in a quiet residential area of Lisbon. It's perfect for those who want to relax after spending the day exploring the city. Within walking distance are small groceries, cafes, and the tram, which will quickly take you into the centre of town. The beautiful Jardim da Estrela is close by too – a garden where you can picnic beneath the shade of the trees in the summer. We'd recommend paying a visit to the Praça das Flores where you can buy drinks and pastries. Though when the weather is good, you might prefer simply spending time sipping a glass of wine on the balcony. It's the crowning jewel of this apartment, perfect for both your morning coffee and an evening nightcap under the stars.

This home is a  paradise for shoppers – it's situated just off the tree-lined Avenida da Liberdade, famous as one of the most expensive shopping streets in Europe with its designer stores such as Cartier and Prada. For a wealth of bars, restaurants and historic architecture, take a fifteen-minute stroll to the picturesque neighbourhood of Bairro Alto. Or head to Praça do Comércio with its harbour-facing square, a twenty-minute stroll away. The immediate area isn't super touristy but feels more authentic and quiet, which is something we always like. Back at this stylish apartment, take a seat on the comfy sofa and rest your feet after all that retail therapy or get some fresh air on the balcony. This place has everything you need for a comfortable stay –  we particularly love the vintage furniture scattered throughout the house, as well as the gorgeous marble-style bathrooms. With this home, you can really live like a Lisboeta.

This home is consistently designed with a mixture of boho luxe and elegance, which mostly comes out in the intricately corniced ceiling and the sophisticated breakfast bar. The bedrooms don't get a lot of natural light, but they're cosy and quiet, which is key to a good night's rest.
