A featured home in the prestigious Modernism Tour in 2024, Mod Squad is a chic tranquil paradise on a quiet street on the 8th fairway of the Tahquitz Creek Legend Golf Course in the center of Palm Springs. 

The attention to detail and creativity that went into this home is next level - we certainly weren't surprised when we found out the revamp was courtesy of a hip San Francisco architect and photographer team. It effortlessly blends modern style and vintage flourishes, with Orla Kiely wallpaper, a Scandinavian-style fireplace and bright red 60s-style tub chairs. The sunshine is never far away whether you're inside or out, thanks to the vibrant pops of colour (think lemon yellow cushions, blazing orange rugs and lush green artwork) and a glass door in the living room that completely folds away to let the warm Californian air breeze right through the home. On the patio you can chill out under the turquoise parasol while contemplating lighting the barbecue or taking a dip in the saltwater pool. (We know which we'd choose). And golf fans rejoice: this home is on 8th fairway at the Tahquitz Creek Legend Golf Course in the centre of Palm Springs. Non-golf fans shouldn't worry, the buzz of Palm Springs is only a 10-minute drive away.

When it’s time to rustle up a meal, fire up the barbecue in the impressive outdoor dining area, while friends gather around the fire pit. Or let a private chef take over in the gourmet kitchen, complete with a wine fridge and built-in coffee maker to cover off all the essentials. And should you be tempted to stray from this desert retreat, you’ll find downtown Palm Springs a mere fifteen minutes drive away. Though why you’d ever want to leave is anyone’s guess.

The garden is the best place to take those views - grab a seat under the bright yellow and white parasol on one of the matching sun loungers that give off serious French Riviera vibes. The mellow yellow colour scheme runs through the inside here too, thanks to the tiled canary-coloured fireplace, sunny vases and mustard lampshades. That reminder to smile (there's a P.S. Smile neon sign in the living room, and the slogan is splashed on framed prints in the bedroom) follows you here too - not that we think you'll forget to grin in this playful home. The bedrooms are just as joyful, with rattan bed frames and pink and emerald green tropical print wallpaper. In the bathroom, framed pictures of Marilyn Monroe keep a watchful eye as you perfect your make-up. Marilyn famously said a smile is the best make-up a girl could ever wear, and a stay here is sure to leave you looking like a million dollars.

From kitsch gold taps in the bathroom to the African nick-nacks adorning every surface in the living room, its style is best described as “more is more”. Every care has been taken to preserve this home in its original 1950s glamour, when its owner ran the famed Chi Chi Lounge, frequented by celebrity clientele who’d pop over to his house for Sunday brunch. You can easily imagine Frank Sinatra propped up at the private bar in the lounge, or sipping a cocktail by the kidney-shaped pool outside. Why not channel Ol’ Blue Eyes with a singsong around the piano after a day exploring all that Palm Springs has to offer. The restaurants and shops of East Palm Canyon Drive are within walking distance and it's a short drive to downtown.
