Pow! This Mid-Century Modern house certainly has visual impact. From kitsch gold taps in the bathroom to the African nick-nacks adorning every surface in the living room, its style is best described as “more is more”. Every care has been taken to preserve this home in its original 1950s glamour, when its owner ran the famed Chi Chi Lounge, frequented by celebrity clientele who’d pop over to his house for Sunday brunch. You can easily imagine Frank Sinatra propped up at the private bar in the lounge, or sipping a cocktail by the kidney-shaped pool outside. Why not channel Ol’ Blue Eyes with a singsong around the piano after a day exploring all that Palm Springs has to offer. The restaurants and shops of East Palm Canyon Drive are within walking distance and it's a short drive to downtown.

When you’re ready to venture out, you’re just a ten-minute drive from Lake Arrowhead Village and all it has to offer.

Black Arrow

Located in Orange County's fun-filled playground, Santa Ana, this crowd-pleasing apartment ticks all the right boxes. Woody

Vast sliding walls of glass blur the lines between indoors and out in this spacious, mid-century home, where glorious Palm Springs sunshine and gorgeous mountain views steal the show.

Inside, an open lounge is centred around a stylish fireplace with chic period furniture. The dining area is separated from the kitchen by a breakfast bar, beyond which you'll find everything you need to cook up a feast for the whole family.

There's even more living space outside, inviting you to spend sun-soaked days under cloudless skies. The kidney-shaped pool offers a chance to cool off from the heat of the day in between sun lounger sessions, while those who prefer to stick to the shade can lounge on the outdoor sofa under the bright blue parasol. 

The adjacent hot tub makes for romantic nights staring up at the stars, followed by cosying up around the fire pit to dry off before dinner. Tuck into sumptuous homemade meals fresh from the grill, or bring in the professionals for restaurant-quality food in the comfort of your home. Alternatively, stroll half an hour into central Palm Springs to experience the dynamic desert dining scene.

Silent Cinema

Located in the Indian Palms Country Club and Resort, this Mediterranean-style home's private poolside looks out onto a pristine golf course complete with a mountain backdrop. Just a five-minute drive away is Empire Polo Club where Coachella and Stagecoach festivals are held throughout April. With ceiling-to-floor windows to let natural light in, striking art adorning almost every wall and custom furniture pieces unlike anything else, this home is truly one to remember. Roll out of the luxurious beds and pull back the curtains to the stunning desert landscape stretching out as far as the eye can see, and spend a day seeing who can find the secret room first. And yes, there is a secret room hidden somewhere in this home.

With a range of outdoor facilities on the property for you to take full advantage of, you'll easily spend just as much time outdoors as you will indoors. You'll have professional courts, a putting green, a climbing structure and a saltwater swimming pool with an integrated spa all to yourself. Go for a float and rinse off in the outdoor shower, before letting the sun dry you off on one of the sun loungers, then break out the barbecue and grill up a storm.

There are miles of stunning hiking trails just footsteps from the property for those excited to explore, not to mention the town of Joshua Tree is mere minutes away, so you can pop into town and pick up anything you might need. At night, enjoy the famous star-filled skies of Joshua Tree while you gather around the fire pit and let the flames warm your bones.

The Line Between Heaven & Earth

Wild Rocks is one of those homes that always appears effortlessly chic. Designed by Oller & Pejic, it’s an architectural gem set against Yucca Valley’s rugged desert terrain. The sliding glass doors blur the lines between the inside and outside, allowing you to enjoy home-cooked meals on the terrace, gaze at the stars, and relax in the hot tub. We also loved the enormous record collection, which features some of the host Joann’s all-time favourite tunes. Found just a short drive from Joshua Tree National Park, there are plenty of exciting adventures waiting for you.

Wild Rocks

Full of personalised little touches and less than ten minutes from downtown Santa Barbara, this modern coastal cottage is an Instagrammer's dream. From the outside, it takes inspiration from industrial-style shipping containers, while inside the home's muted palette and minimalist design induces a peaceful serenity. A couple or solo traveller will find it delivers a faultless experience – from the brand-new, bespoke kitchen to an always-perfect temperature, thanks to the air conditioning. Although when the weather is mild, we recommend opening the French doors and allowing indoor and outdoor spaces to become one. Sit out on your private yard, sip your morning coffee and plan the day ahead. Hop on one of the beach cruisers and feel your feet in the sand in just a few minutes, then head to Coast Village Road for the best restaurants and a spot of shopping.

Pacific Shipping

A hilltop cabin in a unique area of the desert, this place is nestled on its own between Pioneertown and Yucca Valley on what feels like the scenic drive through Joshua Tree National Park. The trees, rocks, and landscape just outside the doors are just as breathtaking as anything you would see in the park, except you have them all to yourself. 

There’s a wood-burning stove to keep you warm on those chill nights, while one of your musically talented friends can play a tune on the grand piano (though there’s also a Bluetooth sound system, for convenience). On the walls, you’ll find original art by the late Gerald Zeldin, and an interior so impressive it was featured in the NY Times fashion section. You can feel the history of this old mining cabin in the wood-beamed ceiling and clapboard (yet modern)  bathroom. Picture-frame windows let the sunlight stream into this boho-chic interior and let you gaze out over the endless desert before you.

This place is totally off-grid and once you’ve experienced the unique feeling of heating the outdoor hot tub with firewood as you gaze at the stars, there’s no going back.

Ranch Of The Rising Sun

This magnificent mid-century modern home is pure Palm Springs perfection. Located in the historic Racquet Club Estates neighbourhood, this awesome Alexander Butterfly home – so called because it was built by the iconic Alexander Construction Company is both stylish and sophisticated, evoking the Palm Springs of yesteryear. Featuring a light-filled open plan kitchen, dining and living room – think clean lines, clerestory windows and an arty mid-century modern inspired aesthetic – courtesy of floor to ceiling sliding glass doors, this heritage home really does have it all.
