You’ll be able to access the riverfront directly from the property, and your host also offers free kayaks and a bicycle, making it even easier to take full advantage of the stunning setting. The large patio is the perfect place to share morning coffee or a bottle of delectable California wine at sunset.

This serene sanctuary is tucked away in a wooded knoll on North Fitch Mountain, and sits amongst the towering redwoods of this area, with its own direct path to the Russian River. This home offers proper privacy, so you can enjoy a peaceful stay with your loved ones without any interruptions.

Wake up each morning and cook up a delicious American breakfast in your fully equipped kitchen, and tuck in alfresco on your outdoor dining set while enjoying the views of the towering trees that surround you. Head down to the river, where you’ll find your own private beach, from which you can set off in your personal watercraft and go on adventures along the water. As the evening rolls in, fire up the grill and cook up some meats for dinner, before having a soak in the hot tub and watching the stars come out.

You’ll be well placed to explore Sonoma County, also known as California’s Wine Country – there’s plenty of vineyards just a short drive away. If you fancy exploring a new city, Healdsburg is a short drive away, a city packed with small-town charm, and with lots of bustling bars and vibrant restaurants to explore.

Inside, an open layout offers a wonderful flow throughout the home. The kitchen, dining area and living room are grouped together, providing a sociable space for everyone to come together, with plenty of room to claim a corner to yourself, whether you're helping prep dinner, playing games at the dining table, or stretched out on the large leather sofa in front of the fire.

With your quiet rural location, the four individually decorated bedrooms guarantee an uninterrupted night's sleep. The majority offer direct access to the gorgeous garden, with an outdoor dining set, comfortable seating beneath the pergola, and a summer house set slightly away from the property. So whether you're looking to start a bit of friendly competition with a game of two-on-two basketball or seek a secluded spot to read your book, there's a space to suit.

Just a few miles away, the small-town charm of Occidental is well worth a visit. A blend of creatives and Old West ranching families, the town offers a selection of excellent eateries and a weekly farmers market (open seasonally on Fridays from 4pm-8pm). Elsewhere the towering redwoods of central Sonoma County are calling out to be explored in tandem with your four-legged friend. Finally, the beautiful Bodega Bay is approximately 10 miles away, offering scenic hiking and biking trails with magnificent Pacific Ocean vistas.

Taylor Ridge Retreat

Perched on a private ridge, we invite you to take a lungful of some of the purest air in mainland USA and step inside this charming single-storey home, which enjoys spectacular views over its 14-acre vineyard and the pristine waters of Clear Lake.

Everything about this elegantly designed building aims to accentuate the natural beauty on the doorstep. A wall of clear glass panes slides back to reveal a front-row set of six Adirondack seats where you can sit and take in the vista. This expansive wooden deck also includes an outdoor dining table and is bookended by an inviting infinity pool at one end and a Jacuzzi at the other – perfect for cooling daytime dips or sundowner soaks.

The effortless flow between the exterior and interior continues throughout the home, with a vast multipurpose space forming the nucleus around which all things entertainment, socialisation and food-related rotate. We can easily imagine an early start for a challenging hike along the trails that crisscross the nearby countryside, or a paddleboarding session out on the water, before returning home for a relaxing day by the pool with a glass of cab sav in hand, only getting up to top up your glass and grab snacks the kitchen.

A Life On the Water

Nestled in the city of Roseville, California, this modern home is great for friends and families. Well-behaved pets are welcome for an additional fee, and your host can provide a cot and safety equipment for little ones. You'll find a gym, shops, and Blue Oaks Park within walking distance. That said, we recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay here – it's less than an hour's drive to Sacramento, and a couple of hours into San Francisco for day trips.

Moments from Golden Gate Park, this apartment is perfectly placed for a refreshing city break. You’ll find easy access to local cafes, organic grocery stores, restaurants and boutiques. It’s worth noting there is no free parking here, but you will find great public transport links – making it easy to get across the city. You will also have access to a private patio and a backyard for relaxing evening drinks. Inside, there’s a fireplace and a projector in the living room, while the second bedroom comes with a desk – making this an ideal spot for remote workers. 

Sunlight Beauty

Get away from the everyday at this lovely riverside cottage, located on the shores of the Russian River in Forestville, Sonoma County. Outside, a hot tub invites you to soak away your worries, while a fire pit allows for evenings spent sipping cocoa under the stars. The shore is located at the bottom of the backyard, with a canoe for you to embark on adventures down the river.


The White Cloud

A visit to Wine Country is always a good idea, as is staying in this beautiful Healdsburg home. Your days will be filled with visits to nearby wineries – the house is close to Dry Creek and Alexander Valley – and journeys into Healdsburg. It takes just eight minutes to reach downtown, where you can shop, dine out and explore.

With views over the Santa Cruz Mountains, this home screams tranquil country charm. But that doesn't mean it's totally remote. Downtown San Jose lies only a short drive away for you to explore, and so does San Jose Country Club for the golfing enthusiast. Apart from the stretching vistas from the balcony, we also love how bright and comfortable the space is. If you're cooking, you can pick fresh veggies from the greenhouse to enhance tried recipes.
