Featuring an open-plan living area, there’s an open and social feel to the space that makes it perfect for a group of friends or a family to spend quality time together, whether that’s getting cosy in front the fire, preparing delicious meals or enjoying the brand new games room featuring skeeball, arcade games, table tennis and a shuffleboard. Out on your private deck, you’ll be blown away by uninterrupted views of the landscape, the outdoor fire pit and an alfresco dining setup. When you’re ready to venture out, you’re just a ten-minute drive from Lake Arrowhead Village and all it has to offer.

Black Arrow

In the centre of downtown Paso Robles, this stylish apartment puts you close to shops, restaurants and, of course, wine tasting rooms. The hills around Paso are filled with California’s best wineries where Zinfandel and Petit Sirah grapes grow plump on the vine. Indulge in a warming Pinot Noir in the living room, where faux fur cushions invite you to cosy up on the mid-century-style sofa. The sleek, black kitchen has everything you need, including plenty of room for a few bottles of Chardonnay in the big American-style fridge. If you want to switch it up a bit the cute bar trolley is set with everything needed to mix up a few Martinis and when sleep beckons, the huge king-size bed in the master bedroom awaits.

The Viticulturalist

This art-filled sanctuary occupies a privileged spot in the heart of Palm Springs. Upon arrival, you’ll be treated to stunning mountain views and a range of luxurious amenities. From the large pool and Jacuzzi to the private mini golf course, this is the perfect spot for a laidback desert retreat. There’s also a barbecue and a fire pit for magical evenings under the stars, while the rooms set the tone for total relaxation. And when it comes to explorations further afield, it’s less than a five-minute drive to Downtown Palm Springs and just fifty-minutes to Joshua Tree National Park.

Desert Retreat

Dew Drop combines relaxed West Coast living with the best of Cape Cod's design, for a beach-front home that is sure to put its guests at ease. Its position between Santa Barbara and Malibu means that it’s a little bit quieter than your standard California beach retreat, but the centre of Oxnard is still easy to reach. The gentle, nautical colour scheme perfectly matches the home's impressive views and provides a comfortable and homely space in a serene setting. Whether you want to make yourself at home in the living room and snuggle up with a great book or spend your time exploring the beach and its surroundings (Alfred provides beach chairs and body boards), Dew Drop has something for everyone. 

Dew Drop

Just steps from the sand in Santa Barbara’s West Beach, this three-bedroom townhouse puts you right in the middle of it all – State Street, the Funk Zone, the pier, and the harbor are all an easy stroll away. But it’s not just about location here –  the interior is just as noteworthy. Spread out across three levels, you’ll have plenty of space to relax—whether that’s in the open living area, the private third-floor patio, or soaking in the master’s deep bathtub. Meanwhile, beach chairs, towels, and a pack-and-play are included, so you can skip the extra packing and start enjoying your Santa Barbara stay from day one.

Santa Barbara Oasis

We are really smitten with this stunning beach-front home. Charming coastal interiors, a massive kitchen, twenty-foot high ceilings, a hot tub, ocean views galore – it’s hard to know where to stop. This is an ideal home for a large group of friends or family, looking to spend quality time with one another in a peaceful location. And for those that want to get out and explore, it’s just a two-minute walk to great grocery stores and restaurants. Oh, did we mention that guests have access to a private beach? We’ll leave you with that thought. 

Beauty and the Beach

This home is an oasis of coolness and calm within the desert. Inside, glorious vintage Moroccan textiles cover the floors, while the art is provided by artists that host Denise represents in her art gallery. Architectural accents also lurk behind every corner – we especially loved the exposed beams and Mission-style plaster. The outdoors of the property are wild and isolated and will appeal to the adventurous and those craving solitude. Steps have been taken to tame the wilderness in ways that inspire relaxation, such as the outdoor bathtub, shower, plunge-pool, and many hammocks.

Merchant House High Desert

Nestled between Lake Arrowhead and majestic Big Bear Lake, this historic A-Frame home was the first of its kind in this special part of California. Now, you can experience its unique magic along with a whole range of luxurious amenities. From the cedar hot tub and outdoor fire pit to the cosy rooms and incredible views, this is the perfect setting for a rejuvenating retreat. There’s also plenty to keep you entertained with games, a barbecue and hiking trails straight from the door. Private parking is available for one car and it’s just a short drive to Running Springs, Sky-Park and Big Bear Lake.

Cupid's Cabin

Escapes to this Yucca Valley home are guaranteed to be unforgettable. With endless views of the Mojave Desert, guests can spend hours watching pink sunsets from the hot tub, dining alfresco against the serrated silhouette, picking out constellations from a sky full of stars and toasting marshmallows over the fire pit. Inside, designer furniture and poured concrete floors feel extra stylish, and the bedrooms with luxury mattresses, percale cotton bedding and original artwork demand long lie-ins. Put an album on the record player as made-from-scratch meals cook away in the up-to-the-minute kitchen, and when dinner’s demolished, clear the plates ready for an evening of board games. After practising yoga on the patio with the sunrise, mornings are to be spent exploring; pull on your hiking boots and make your way to the Joshua Tree National Park, a twenty-minute drive from the property. Stop off in Yucca Valley’s Old Town on your way back for a bite to eat and a well-earned, ice-cold drink.

Desert Willow

Live the jet-set lifestyle at this Palm Springs villa of grand entrances and epic proportions. On arrival you’ll discover an elegant Spanish colonial-style home, sprawling out luxuriously across one level. Slide open its French doors to reveal interiors worthy of a design magazine cover – vaulted ceilings, lofty bedrooms (each with their own bathroom and patio), and an achingly-cool living space that begs to be lounged around in. 

Carrying on outside, through magnificent gardens, you’ll discover a contemporary two-storey pool house that brings this place right into the 21st century, with one of the most well-equipped gyms we ever did see. But the star of the show has to be the pool and gardens. With 360-degree mountain vistas, soaring palm trees, lush lawns, and hummingbirds busy going about their day, there is no better place to be. Start the day with a few lengths in the pool and soak in the spa, before settling down on one of the many sun decks to catch some rays. 

When it’s time to rustle up a meal, fire up the barbecue in the impressive outdoor dining area, while friends gather around the fire pit. Or let a private chef take over in the gourmet kitchen, complete with a wine fridge and built-in coffee maker to cover off all the essentials. And should you be tempted to stray from this desert retreat, you’ll find downtown Palm Springs a mere fifteen minutes drive away. Though why you’d ever want to leave is anyone’s guess.

The Grand Entrance

Full of personalised little touches and less than ten minutes from downtown Santa Barbara, this modern coastal cottage is an Instagrammer's dream. From the outside, it takes inspiration from industrial-style shipping containers, while inside the home's muted palette and minimalist design induces a peaceful serenity. A couple or solo traveller will find it delivers a faultless experience – from the brand-new, bespoke kitchen to an always-perfect temperature, thanks to the air conditioning. Although when the weather is mild, we recommend opening the French doors and allowing indoor and outdoor spaces to become one. Sit out on your private yard, sip your morning coffee and plan the day ahead. Hop on one of the beach cruisers and feel your feet in the sand in just a few minutes, then head to Coast Village Road for the best restaurants and a spot of shopping.

Pacific Shipping

In a state dominated by vast open spaces, this Malibu beach ranch feels suitably large and expansive. Although it's only intended for two, the interior is more expansive than many family homes, with a long sofa stretching across one side of the living room and a kitchen with marble counters that will put a smile on the face of any home chef. 

Your host has undoubtedly taken advantage of the amount of wall space by showing off an impressive and varied art collection, which gives the home a sense of playfulness – it almost seems a shame that guests will be spending so much time outside. 

Alfresco seating looks out over a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean, encompassing Point Dume to the Santa Barbara Channel Islands. Guests also have access to a hot tub and a barbecue, so that's the evening itinerary sorted. Nearby, you can get to Zuma Beach in just a few minutes by car, while in the other direction, Zuma Ridge trailhead is just a ten-minute walk away from your front door.
