If the interiors of this minimalist home appear to have jumped straight out of the pages of a glossy magazine, you’re not far off. This home, designed by Palmer and Kriesel is hidden away in a Palm Springs cul-de-sac and has previously graced the pages of the New York Times. Homage to all things mid-century, with Eames chairs, Nelson lamps and a vintage Malm fireplace in the master bedroom.

We were wowed by the open living area, designed with socialising in mind and with great views of the backyard. Out in the garden, reclining by the shimmering turquoise pool is the perfect way to unwind, but if you need to take your relaxing to the next level, there’s also a hot tub to bubble the night away in. Dine alfresco under the endless desert sky, then end the evening around the flickering fire pit with a glass of something strong as the sun sets behind the mountains.

When you want to venture out, downtown Palm Springs is only a five-minute drive away, and Joshua Tree National Park, roughly an hour away, is a must-see for hikers and nature enthusiasts. Visit The Palm Springs Art Museum, an eight-minute drive away which features complex sculptures, glassworks, and photographs by renowned artists such as Andy Warhol and Diane Arbus.

There's also plenty of space to come together, though – you'll find enough space for everyone in the jacuzzi, and alfresco dining is a breeze thanks to the barbecue. When it's time to explore, you're just a short drive from mountains and desert here, and just up the road from downtown Palm Springs.

On a corner spot surrounded by high hedges, this Palm Springs home feels private and peaceful. Inside, mid-century style mixes with tropical colours and patterns, which makes for quite a playful atmosphere. Sweeping onto the private driveway of this architectural masterpiece is like stepping back in time. And things only get better inside, with collectable sputnik feature lights, original teak antique pieces, and curated artwork bringing all the Palm Springs vibes. 

Spend lazy, hazy days hopping between that saltwater pool and spa Jacuzzi outside and soaking up the desert sun from the landscaped terrace. You can always cool things down a notch beneath the retractable awning with the patio misters on full steam – what bliss.

At dusk, as the sun dips behind the magnificent canyons in the distance and the garden lights begin to glow, this place takes on an ambient feel that's so very LA. Get together for barbecues at the alfresco dining area – the views of the mountains are magnificent from here. Then keep the night flowing with some post-dinner drinks in downtown Palm Springs (just a short drive away). When you’re seeking outdoor activities, drive seven minutes to hike the Araby Trail across the Santa Rosa Mountains for a full dose of desert fauna, wildflowers and rock formations. If teeing off the golf course is more your thing, the Escena Golf Club is just five minutes away.
