You’ll be able to access the riverfront directly from the property, and your host also offers free kayaks and a bicycle, making it even easier to take full advantage of the stunning setting. The large patio is the perfect place to share morning coffee or a bottle of delectable California wine at sunset. 

Inside, you’ll find a bright and inviting open-plan living space, perfect for snuggling up and relaxing after a long day of outdoor adventures. Perched on a private ridge, we invite you to take a lungful of some of the purest air in mainland USA and step inside this charming single-storey home, which enjoys spectacular views over its 14-acre vineyard and the pristine waters of Clear Lake.

Everything about this elegantly designed building aims to accentuate the natural beauty on the doorstep. A wall of clear glass panes slides back to reveal a front-row set of six Adirondack seats where you can sit and take in the vista. This expansive wooden deck also includes an outdoor dining table and is bookended by an inviting infinity pool at one end and a Jacuzzi at the other – perfect for cooling daytime dips or sundowner soaks.

The effortless flow between the exterior and interior continues throughout the home, with a vast multipurpose space forming the nucleus around which all things entertainment, socialisation and food-related rotate. We can easily imagine an early start for a challenging hike along the trails that crisscross the nearby countryside, or a paddleboarding session out on the water, before returning home for a relaxing day by the pool with a glass of cab sav in hand, only getting up to top up your glass and grab snacks the kitchen.

Take your pick from the seasonal fruit trees in the garden, cook lazy suppers in the recently remodelled kitchen and relax in the lounge with views of misty peaks through the large windows. If you fancy venturing out, you’re within walking distance of a number of restaurants and cafes, and just a bike ride from the many gorgeous vineyards in the area. For world-class hiking and biking, Sonoma Regional Park (11 mins drive) and Sugarloaf Ridge State Park (17 mins) aren’t much further away. 

Cherries & Plums

This home’s prime location puts you a five-minute car ride from Paso Robles wine trail. Or, you can walk to Jack Creek Cellars, just three minutes across the street, for a glass or two with your date and not have to worry about the drive home.

Red Robles

This cosy and quiet condo in the heart of a pine forest in a mountainous Californian resort is perfect for those looking for a low-key holiday in the countryside, as well as groups on the hunt for something more active. There are a wealth of sports and activities at your doorstep: cross-country skiing, snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking – you name it, they've got it. If none of that takes your fancy, the house itself is perfect for hunkering down by the fire. The granite fireplace and picturesque wooden balcony truly make this a home for all seasons.

The Northstar

Surrounded by cypress trees in Mountain View, California, this ecological home is a true architectural wonder. Expertly designed by renowned studio Atelier Hsu, its open, industrial-style featuring exposed steel beams and reclaimed redwood furniture instantly reflects its Silicon Valley surroundings. It doesn’t take a genius though to see this home is pretty special. The living room’s huge glass doors give way to a sun-soaked patio while just inside, a large dining table is perfectly positioned for semi-al fresco dining. An eye-catching iron staircase leads upstairs to the bedrooms, both boasting their own freestanding bathtubs in their respectively luxurious bathrooms. Wander down to the large, white kitchen to cook up a Cali-fresh meal, or head out to explore Mountain View’s downtown bars and restaurants just under a mile away. While the area is known for its many cycling and walking paths, you can also easily explore further afield. San Francisco is just a forty-minute drive away or a short train ride from Mountain View station, just ten minutes down the road.

Silicon Cypress

Tucked away in a wooded spot on Howell Mountain, well-known for its award-winning vineyards, this European-inspired home has more than a touch of the grand chateau about it. From the imposing front door, right through to its luxurious master suite and its sociable outdoor space, it's a French fantasy suited to both family getaways and groups of friends here on a wine tour.

And we just love the impressive garden room – a refuge from the hustle and bustle of everyday life where you can admire the wild garden and listen to the soothing trickle of the fountain (or just watch TV – we won't judge). The town is less than five minutes away by car, with fifteen minutes to St Helena and Calistoga, and you're surrounded by the area's finest wineries – just take your pick and experience the views, the atmosphere and of course taste the wines produced in this special spot. 

The Art of Wine

Enjoy mesmerising views and direct beach access from this Pacific Ocean retreat. You’ll also find a private hot tub overlooking the water, a putting green and a fire pit for magical evenings under the stars. Inside, there’s a cosy and welcoming living room for socialising as well as plenty of space to stretch out and enjoy the views. Private parking is available and you’ll find it’s less than a ten-minute drive to Half Moon Bay, while San Francisco is twenty-five minutes away.  

Wonder of the Waves

In the centre of downtown Paso Robles, this stylish apartment puts you close to shops, restaurants and, of course, wine tasting rooms. The hills around Paso are filled with California’s best wineries where Zinfandel and Petit Sirah grapes grow plump on the vine. Indulge in a warming Pinot Noir in the living room, where faux fur cushions invite you to cosy up on the mid-century-style sofa. The sleek, black kitchen has everything you need, including plenty of room for a few bottles of Chardonnay in the big American-style fridge. If you want to switch it up a bit the cute bar trolley is set with everything needed to mix up a few Martinis and when sleep beckons, the huge king-size bed in the master bedroom awaits.

The Viticulturalist

Overlooking beautiful Donner Lake, which sits on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada, guests will find a home that will perfectly suit a small family.  The first bedroom has a king-size bed, while bedroom two is made up of a queen-size bunk bed. More importantly, guests have easy access to the lake so make sure to pack your swimsuits and any floating devices. Wander around the edge of the lake and you'll come across charming cafes, restaurants and shops. We would, however, still recommend having a car in order to explore all this area has to offer.

Lake Days

This comfortable North Lake Tahoe home couldn't be better placed to enjoy the lake in the summer and surrounding mountains during the colder months. Watercraft rentals are available to pick up literally seconds away - plus there's access to a private part of the beach with fire pits and loungers available for guests in the complex. While skiing, snowboarding and hiking are possible at Northstar, ten minutes away by car, and Alpine/Squaw, twenty minutes away. The home is light, friendly and cheerful, and is sure to please families and guests of all ages. 

Down by the Shoreline

With the Facebook HQ your neighbour, this stylish apartment is ideal for any business trip to Fair Oaks. It’s the perfect mix of business and downtime, with Bedwell Bayfront Park just across the road for a morning jog or leisurely stroll, and plenty of trendy eateries in the area. Plus, it’s just a half-hour drive into the heart of San Francisco, just up the bay.

There’s plenty within the building to fill your downtime. Swim laps in the huge outdoor swimming pool, or laze on a lounger in the sun. There’s a barbecue area dappled with stringed lights and fire pits in the outdoor lounges if you’re feeling social. Inside the apartment block, you’ve got a full gym with its own yoga studio, cafés and myriad plush lounges.
