The decor is simple but stylish and the full (but compact) kitchen is perfect for whipping up a quick breakfast before heading out for the day. You’re just a few blocks from the sea, so you can head for a walk along the cliffs or spend the day on the beach. When you return home, wash off the sand using the outdoor shower and then settle down by the fire pit in the garden to toast marshmallows for your hot chocolate, while you plan tomorrow’s adventures. 


Sand Strolls

Just two blocks away from the beach and one block from the local boutiques and restaurants, this modern beach shack in San Diego provides guests with comfort and style in a great location. 

Recently remodelled, the kitchen is fully equipped and sparkly clean, while the L-shaped sofa in the living room is perfect for sinking into after a busy day. In the bedroom, guests will find a comfy bed with crisp linen and a vanity station which can easily be used as a desk for anyone in need of a home office. It’s a relatively small home, but you needn’t worry because there’s a wonderful outdoor area to enjoy too – equipped with a fire pit and surrounded by benches, it offers the perfect place to wind down. 

You can make the five-minute walk down to Ocean Beach to admire a magical sunset over the water, try your hand at surfing or simply stroll along the sand. Just two minutes away you'll find the local farmer's market, which sells artisanal produce every Wednesday. And, should you fancy an evening out in the city's traditional Gaslamp Quarter, you can drive there in just twelve minutes. 

Freshly Squeezed

Nestled into the San Diego hillside, this sprawling home is something nearer to an estate. We’ll let you decide whether you’d like to enjoy the impeccable views over the valley from the bedroom, dining table, pool or tennis court. Wake up with breakfast on the deck and then soak in even more Southern California sunshine on a lounger by the pool. Cool off with a dip before a heated match of tennis – the champion will have to defend themselves at the pool table later. While the playground, pool, and court alone are reasons to stay here, we can’t get over the inside of the home – a blend of antique furniture, modern glass doors, Spanish chandeliers, and high wooden ceilings make time indoors equally well spent. With stone walls, rooms flooded with light and hand-crafted wooden beds you and your family and friends will feel like royalty. As the evening nears, light up the barbecue and watch the sky change colors. And of course, if you somehow run out of things to do, you’re right above one of California’s biggest cities, with plenty of dining, culture and nightlife to keep you busy. 

California King

This home is all about outdoor living, from the front yard with its private barbecue pit to the serene back courtyard’s fire pit and second barbecue station. Inside is designed with detail in mind. Create in the cook’s kitchen, entertain in the open-plan living space and find solitude in the comfortable bedrooms. The master bedroom impresses with vaulted ceilings, a central feature fireplace and en-suite. You’re just two blocks from the beach; take the supplied bikes and cruise around the relaxed neighbourhood of Ocean Beach and over to the cliffs for some stunning views. Try some surf lessons, visit the farmer's market, and pop to the cafe next door for delicious acai bowls and sandwiches. 

Ocean Escape

Just a one-minute walk from Mission Beach in sunny San Diego, this beautiful beach cottage is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing coastal break. Built in the 1930s and stunningly renovated with a boho-beach vibe, you’ll feel instantly laid-back from the moment you walk through the door. Wood floors, white walls and bamboo blinds set the scene in the bright living room with its Dutch door to let the ocean breeze flow through, while the master bedroom exudes beach bliss with its wall of wicker ornaments. The second bedroom has a peaceful jungle feel with its forest green walls and even has a desk space with built-in charging ports should you need to catch up on emails before a day of sun and sand. Outside on the front porch, there’s a deck set up with a table and chairs ready to host alfresco dinners and lazy afternoons enjoying the welcome snacks and drinks provided. You’ll be sure to stay cool here too thanks to the overhead fan. When you’re not hanging out in your peaceful pad, grab the sun chairs, umbrella, sand toys and beach towels offered and head to the beach. Alternatively, walk ten minutes to the Mission Bay Sportcenter where you can rent kayaks, jet skis, sailboats and surf gear for a day of ocean adventure.

Seconds from the sand and boasting balconies on both levels with breathtaking views, it doesn't get much better than this if you're after a break filled with sun, surf, and white beaches. Gather your group of loved ones for a big hearty meal, and fire up the barbecue as the sun goes down over the horizon. You'll want to eat alfresco every day, but have a break from cooking and walk to one of Mission Beach's restaurants - popular with visitors and locals alike. Chill out in the fully air-conditioned home, and drink fresh juice in the mornings as you slowly wake up at the breakfast bar. The living room comes with a fireplace and custom flat-screen TV, so you can stream your favourite shows or just put your feet up and relax by the crackling fire.

Pacific Watch

Beautifully updated without losing any of its original charm, this 1930s bungalow offers the perfect escape for both newcomers and long-time visitors to San Diego. There's also plenty of outdoor space, and thanks to comfortable seating, festoon lighting and a fire pit, it's the perfect place to sit back and relax at the end of a busy day. After all, you'll be staying in vibrant Little Italy. This hip neighbourhood has excellent transport links, is conveniently located just a short drive from San Diego Airport, and benefits from boutique clothing stores, excellent restaurants and charming piazzas. If you fancy a trip to the beach, there are lots in the area, with most just a short drive away. To escape the crowds, head north to the likes of Black's Beach, a few miles past La Jolla, or continue towards Solana Beach and Encinitas for a more secluded stretch of sand.

Zenda

Right in the heart of Little Italy – one of San Diego’s most vibrant neighbourhoods – this apartment is just a three-minute wander from the Little Italy Mercato Farmers' Market. But it doesn’t quite look like a traditional Italian home. This standout villa was built in the 1930s, an excellent example of art-deco-inspired architecture. Pale, mint-green garage doors, roofs, and columns sit at jaunty angles on the cream painted exterior. It truly looks like something right out of the history books. You’ll also have a private patio outside, with a barbecue, bright-pink flowers, and fairy lights to create a Mediterranean atmosphere. Inside, the decor offers a nod to the city’s waterside location – a beach hut vibe. We love these traditional themes, making the home feel truly warm and welcoming with its rustic, family-friendly feel. In the lounge, thanks to rich wooden floors, shell-like embossed cabinets, and woven dining chairs, the space feels reminiscent of driftwood and the seaside. In any case, you are just a seventeen-minute walk from the Maritime Museum of San Diego, right on the waters of the bay.

L'Americano

This small-but-mighty home is a great base to immerse yourself in the bohemian lifestyle of Ocean Beach. Secluded among lush greenery with the call of the ocean just two blocks away, the compact space is nicely set up. Start your day at the breakfast bar with a rocket-fuel coffee, then grab your sunnies and towel and head down to the shore. 

Your stay here may seem to fly by as you while the days away on Newport Avenue uncovering unique pieces at vintage stores or people-watching in one of the many coffee shops. After dark, the area buzzes with live music and entertainment from trendy bars and restaurants. It’s also a short drive from downtown San Diego if you’re craving city life, or you can get your nature fix exploring the scenic coastal paths.

Come evening, head back to your abode. You’ll find the communal outdoor space is more than big enough for socialising – share a bottle of California white wine on the patio or get the fire pit going to toast marshmallows. 

Beyond the Beach

It’s always sunny in California and this is the perfect home for catching those rays. Make a beeline to the back garden, where you’ll find a pool surrounded by swaying palm trees and an attached jacuzzi. Watch the children splash about in the water from the comfort of a swing seat and take in the canyon views; they will love this tropical space with turf for outdoor games and a terrace for barbecues. The interior is sleek and glamorous, making use of metallic tones and pops of vibrant colour. The open-plan kitchen, dining room and living space are spread across the ground floor – perfect for bringing the family together. A classic coastal clapboard-syle home in navy blue, there are three bedrooms – including a lavish master suite and a kid’s bunk room for fun-filled sleepovers. It’s the ideal spot for long family getaways in the sun. Your host has thought of everything you might need; from a stocked kitchen to beach equipment for the kids and bikes for exploring the boardwalk. After long days on the beach, there’s nothing better than being able to simply stroll back to your home (it’s only a ten-minute walk) and flop down on that plush sectional, queue up a film on the entertainment centre, or just enjoy a cocktail in the private, sunny garden. We’ll drink to that. 

Cali Crystal
