Come together for a family dinner around the industrial-chic dining table with leather brown chairs, before playing games out on your private, fairy-lit terrace. Elsewhere, this stay offers everything you need for a relaxing break in California, with access to the on-site swimming pool and gym, plus a dedicated work lounge and coffee bar for those still working while on holiday. Woody

Combining comforting mountain interiors and contemporary design, Black Arrow is a charming cabin with a little extra luxury and style. Spread across three floors, the five-bedroom home can accommodate up to ten guests, with the option of sleeping two further guests on a sofa bed in the living room. Featuring an open-plan living area, there’s an open and social feel to the space that makes it perfect for a group of friends or a family to spend quality time together, whether that’s getting cosy in front the fire, preparing delicious meals or enjoying the brand new games room featuring skeeball, arcade games, table tennis and a shuffleboard. Out on your private deck, you’ll be blown away by uninterrupted views of the landscape, the outdoor fire pit and an alfresco dining setup. When you’re ready to venture out, you’re just a ten-minute drive from Lake Arrowhead Village and all it has to offer.

Black Arrow

Go to bed after watching the spectacular sunset over the Pacific and wake up to the sound of the crashing waves at this jaw-dropping beachfront home in the surfside city of San Clemente. 

Contemporary coastal cool is the order of the day, with plenty of light wood, fresh blue furnishings and pristine white walls, all accentuated by the sunlight that pours in 342 days a year through large windows and retractable glass doors that look out over the ocean.

There's plenty of space for all the family, with large open living spaces, a stunning modern kitchen with eye-catching quartz worktops, a dedicated games room with a billiards table, plus a lovely office to make the idea of working while on holiday a little more palatable. 

Sleeping arrangements are taken care of across five spacious bedrooms. A large loft room packed with games and a console allows you to leave the kids to it as you enjoy a glass of something cold out on the covered terrace, or lay out on a lounger on the promontory pointing out to sea.

If the call of the ocean proves too much, you won't have to walk far to access Lost Winds beach below. With consistent surf, volleyball courts, and the opportunity to jog or cycle along the 2.6-mile beach trail, there's plenty on offer here. However, seasoned surfers might want to check out nearby breaks including Trestles, T Street and San Onofre. Lowers (at Trestles beach) is the best of the bunch and the home of high performance surfing. Sometimes it's best just to sit back and marvel at the pros.

After a day of adrenaline-pumping activity, cooking may well be the last thing on your mind. Handily, San Clemente is home to a wide array of restaurants serving everything from American comfort food, farm-to-table fare and creative Mexican classics washed down with a mescal.


The Dawn Wall

Treat yourself to a romantic getaway and escape from everyday life at this beautiful home, ideally located a two-minute drive away from downtown San Clemente. Enjoy your morning coffee on the private roof deck while you admire the outstanding ocean views. Whip up a delicious breakfast in the fully equipped kitchen, or visit the exquisite restaurants on nearby Del Mar Street. Stroll across the street to soak up the sun at San Clemente State Beach, or visit the popular surf spots at San Mateo Point to catch waves instead of rays. Golf enthusiasts can enjoy the nearby Pruneridge or Sunken Gardens courses. Many sought-after destinations such as San Deigo and Anaheim are easily accessible with a journey on Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner route, while the San Clemente Summer Weekend Trolley will take you on a round trip from the pier to the outlets. 

El Camino

This home is nestled in West Beach, one of Santa Barbara's most sought-after neighbourhoods. We can see why that's the case. Not only is the picturesque beach within strolling distance, but you're not far from trendy eateries, bars, and shops, either. During downtime, settle down on the private patio with a glass of local wine. The home was built in 1937, and the decor indoors has captured that unique style. We love the traditional features, though some may find the kitchen and bathroom to be a tad dated. Alongside the comfy bedroom, there's a pull-down Murphy bed in the lounge – ideal for little ones or short trips.


West Beach Belle

This bright and breezy villa puts the best of Santa Barbara at your doorstep. Just steps from the sand, the harbour, and the buzzing Funk Zone, you can stroll or cycle to bars, cafés, and restaurants without ever touching your car. Inside, colourful interiors echo the tropical surroundings, creating a laid-back, beachy vibe. Stretch out in the open-plan living space or step onto the little front balcony for a sunset drink or two – this villa promises a stay that’s as lively or as leisurely as you like.

Santa Barbara Escape

With a Cali-cool aesthetic and a backyard that transforms into the perfect playground, your home is a welcoming and inviting place to stay for the whole family. Fire up the grill and enjoy alfresco dining on the patio or relax by the sparkling pool — the interior of the home offers a neutral palette and top-of-the-range cabinetry. After a full day of sightseeing, soak in the bath while the kids retire to their bedrooms.

Outdoor enthusiasts are spoiled for choice with the stunning Sequoia National Park a two-hour drive away. Or travel up to the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range for jaw-dropping views of the Californian landscape. 
Go fishing in Kern River Canyon connecting to the Southern San Joaquin Valley. 

Closer to home in downtown Bakersfield — a sixteen-minute drive away, reserve a table at Buck Owens' Crystal Palace - a restaurant and music venue. Sports enthusiasts will want to take in a game at Sam Lynn Ballpark while art lovers are invited to marvel at the selection of sculptures and paintings on display at Bakersfield Museum of Art.



Cali Vista

Forest cabins generally have an old-world feel to them but not this modern beauty. Built out on stilts at the top of a hill and set over three floors – each with a deck to make the most of the views – this home looks out across the woods to the mountains. Set on the edge of the Pine Mountain Club community, shared local facilities include an outdoor pool, golf course and tennis courts. Inside the cabin, there's a distinct Skandi look, with white walls, plenty of natural wood and occasional bright pops of colour. Choose a spot to sit outside with a cool beer, or head up to the barbecue deck to use the grill. And after a long hike on the trails, steam away your aches and pains in the home's sauna.

Keen Evergreen

Adding a touch of luxury to a coastal break, this beachfront villa has everything from a private spa and cinema to exclusive access to Three Arch Bay Beach. This home is where sun lovers can spend entire days in and out of the surf. Plus, there's ample outdoor seating. With garden sun loungers and a bistro table for sunset drinks, you can always make the most of the beautiful location. Even from inside, the views are on full display through floor-to-ceiling windows. And speaking of location, you're close to the Thousand Steps Sea Cave hiking area and the Monarch Beach Golf Links.

Seaside Bliss

Built in 1972 and now looked after by your lovely hosts, Jenna and Michael,  this woodlands home is a wonderfully minimalist yet cosy cabin tucked into the foothills of Los Padres National Park.
