Built in 1972 and now looked after by your lovely hosts, Jenna and Michael,  this woodlands home is a wonderfully minimalist yet cosy cabin tucked into the foothills of Los Padres National Park. Your hosts have lovingly created a space that invites you to relax, recuperate and engage in creative projects for a vacation you won't soon forget. They've even gathered a series of recipes from professional chefs, developed specifically for the cabin. Filled with original works of art and surrounded by mountains, this lodge is a haven for those that need to get away from the everyday hustle and bustle. Once you book, your hosts will put you in touch with a personal concierge who can take care of everything. Get cosy and comfortable in front of the fire, enjoy lavish dinners under the vaulted ceiling, go for long walks in nature (the Pine Mountain hiking trails are five minutes away) and be sure to sit out at night and gaze up at the stars.

A home for California swell chasers to search out, this home will have you in the water in no time, with the sands of San Clemente a five-minute drive from your front door and some of SoCal's best beach breaks within an hour's drive.

However, that's not to say that if you're not a surf pro, you won't find something for you here. Your host provides some boogie boards for the kids and beach chairs for a slightly more sedate experience down at the beach. But a stay here isn't just about the coastline, with hiking trails, pristine golf courses, and shopping are all a stone's throw away. 

The vibrant home itself shouldn’t go without a mention – its shared roof terrace makes for a wonderful spot to watch the sunset over the sea. Indoors, the coastal inspiration is clear. Forest cabins generally have an old-world feel to them but not this modern beauty. Built out on stilts at the top of a hill and set over three floors – each with a deck to make the most of the views – this home looks out across the woods to the mountains. Be warned that we think you'll never leave this home, other than to step out onto the beach for a refreshing dip (the host provides beach chairs and umbrellas as well). The rooftop terrace is just out of this world – every sunset is magical and we can't think of a better spot to end a perfect day with your loved ones. Gather round the fire pit for storytelling or, if you're up for the challenge, fire up the grill for an alfresco feast under the stars. Inside, this stylish home sports a sleek look but delivers coziness and comfort in the form of fireplaces – one in the master bedroom – and top-of-the-line mattresses and bedding. Honestly, your hosts leave nothing to chance so all you have to do is let go of your worries and take in this sumptuous experience.

Balboa's Victory

There are several things that lift this Orange studio apartment above its peers. The elegant mid-century furnishings dotted throughout the space bring a touch of class, and the grey colour palette feels particularly en vogue. 

Come the summer months, there's a private balcony space surrounded by greenery where you can sit out and soak up the glorious Californian sunshine. But, perhaps best of all, there are communal facilities galore in the building, from a glistening swimming pool and hot tub to shared barbecue grills and lounge areas with plenty of space to knuckle down and work. Oh, and a well-equipped gym, too. 

While there's enough at the address to keep you distracted, there's also plenty to offer in the local neighbourhood. Highlights include the magic of Disneyland only ten minutes by car, sprawling Oak Canyon Park reachable in twenty, and the OC's surfside cities, all no more than twenty-five minutes away.

Adding a touch of luxury to a coastal break, this beachfront villa has everything from a private spa and cinema to exclusive access to Three Arch Bay Beach. This home is where sun lovers can spend entire days in and out of the surf. Plus, there's ample outdoor seating. With garden sun loungers and a bistro table for sunset drinks, you can always make the most of the beautiful location. Even from inside, the views are on full display through floor-to-ceiling windows. And speaking of location, you're close to the Thousand Steps Sea Cave hiking area and the Monarch Beach Golf Links.

Seaside Bliss

Tucked away into the hills above Laguna Beach, All-Star is within easy walking distance of hiking trails, restaurants, children’s parks, the beach, and nightlife venues. Of course, you also get to enjoy wonderful canyon views and peek-a-boo ocean views from this elevated position. But the best part of All-Star is what’s inside. This elegant space was recently remodelled with its guests in mind. Delight in the seamless flow of indoor and outdoor living, make the most of this peaceful setting, spend quality time together in the chic living area or chit chat around the breakfast bar while others prepare a delicious meal in the state-of-the-art kitchen. Hang out on the deck or explore over 10,000 square feet of backyard.

All-Star

In the north of Santa Ana, this apartment is the ideal bolthole for a couple or solo traveller looking to discover everything on the doorstep. It’s a two-minute walk to West 17th Street where shops and restaurants line the street and a four-minute drive or twenty-minute walk into the heart of Downtown Santa Ana. 

Alternatively, sprinkle a little fairy dust on your stay with a visit to Disneyland, a ten-minute drive away, hit the surf at the breathtaking beaches that Orange County's stunning coastline, within a half-hour drive, or seek out another side of LA's movie magic and head into Hollywood 37 miles north-west.

Back inside, dark hardwood floors and white walls combine to create a striking space. The open kitchen and living room has a sunny breakfast table surrounded by corner windows and a granite breakfast bar for your morning cup of joe.
