You’ll also find a private hot tub overlooking the water, a putting green and a fire pit for magical evenings under the stars. Inside, there’s a cosy and welcoming living room for socialising as well as plenty of space to stretch out and enjoy the views. Private parking is available and you’ll find it’s less than a ten-minute drive to Half Moon Bay, while San Francisco is twenty-five minutes away.  

Wonder of the Waves

This Victorian-style home caught our eye for its great location in the heart of Noe Valley. San Francisco’s iconic cable car runs just in front of the building to whisk you away to all the famous tourist spots, and you’ve got 24th Street, with its bakeries, cafes, and cheese and wine shops, on your doorstep. And when you’re not busy sightseeing, you can relax on the private, sunny balcony or enjoy a meal around the ten-seater dining table. While babies and teenagers are welcome here, the home isn’t suitable for children aged 2 to 12.

City Bright

It’s easy to see why this beautiful home has been featured in magazines including Martha Stewart Living – it’s stunning. The professional pastry chef homeowner has designed the kitchen as the heart of the home, and there’s a real focus on the shared living spaces. This is an excellent home-from-home for a group wanting to spend quality time together, whether you’re whipping up a feast and dining under the stars, or unwinding on the bocce court. In the foothills of Mount Tamalpais, this home is close to hiking trails, and the restaurants, art galleries, and shops of Downtown Mill Valley are just a short drive away. It’s the perfect spot for a getaway. 

Redwood Hideaway

Homes don't come much more in tune with nature than this one. Situated just below South Lake Tahoe, you'll feel truly immersed in the natural environment. From waking up to views of beautiful pine trees and the peaceful sounds of birds chirping to feeling like you're staying in a luxurious treehouse fortress no matter what room you're in.

Located in the quiet area of Meyers, just outside of Echo Lake, in the summer months you’ll be spoilt for choice with hiking trails and swimming opportunities in the lakes (Echo Lake is a sixteen-minute drive, while Lake Tahoe is twenty-four minutes away). In winter, you can make the most of backcountry skiing and snowboarding before retiring home to heat up in front of the roaring fire with a hot chocolate. Guests lucky enough to occupy the master bedroom can even treat themselves to a relaxing soak in the jetted tub!

Whether you're a group of friends looking to reconnect, or a family ready for an adventure-filled trip, this lodge offers ample possibilities for amazing memories.


Soaring Skies

Combine convenience and comfort with a stay in the penthouse of the Ritz-Carlton at Northstar, the only AAA Five Diamond mountain hotel in California. Occupying the hotel’s top floor, this eight-guest penthouse apartment offers privacy and tranquility, along with full access to the hotel’s facilities. Get straight out on the slopes from the ski concierge, before blowing off steam at the 17,000 square foot spa and fitness centre and rounding off the day with fine dining at the on-site Manzanita restaurant. Designed with family in mind, the penthouse has your evening entertainment sorted with four flat screen HDTVs and premium cable TV on offer, while the luxury kitchen – complete with espresso machine, wine chiller, and granite countertops – is the perfect place to whip up a culinary storm. Beyond the resort, Lake Tahoe is just a 15-minute drive away.

Polaris

On the outskirts of Truckee, and right by Donner Lake (Tahoe’s smaller, less crowded cousin), Sugar Pine has every base covered to make for a great outdoors holiday. Along with the sheer size, which makes it excellent for larger groups and multiple families, the home has pretty much every amenity you can think of, from the private spa (with sauna and steam room), two barbecues, enormous TVs, a games room, and even underfloor heating (a game-changer after skiing, trust us). These all make it seem like an oasis in itself, so the fact that you have vast numbers of outdoor activities on your doorstep – from skiing to hiking, boating, golf, and more – leaves you spoiled for choice.

Sugar Pine

With the magic of the sea, sun, and stars surrounding you at Half Moon Bay, this incredible home is the perfect weekend retreat for a family, only twenty minutes away from San Fransisco. Charge the Tesla at the EV charging station and then explore the trails of the National Forest backing the house or pack your beach bag and stop by the Pacific Ocean, a fifteen-minute stroll away. Sip on sundowners whilst soaking in the hot tub and watch the sunset over the ocean. As the stars speckle the sky, light the fire pit to keep the night going. Kids will be thrilled with the tree-house style bunk beds, a playroom packed with laser tag and a mountain of lego, the big screen projector in the den and the virtual reality set-up. Outside, this place has the wood-tiled cladding and white bannisters of a traditional Bay Area home, but the curved wall of windows in the double-height living room creates a modern feel. A chef’s kitchen comes equipped with more than you need for self-catering – there’s a chef’s torch for those who fancy whipping up a creme brulee – and a collection of spices, oils and condiments are yours to use. Should you need to catch up on some work, there are a plethora of modern office spaces tucked away too. 

The Curve of the Moon

Windows look out over greenery and treetops at this tranquil Oakland home. The exposed timber ceiling and raw wood accents are in keeping with the apartment’s natural surroundings up in the hills on the edge of Oakland. The treetop view takes centre stage in the living room, where an arched window sits like a picture frame on a pristine white wall, and the Cathedral-style ceiling gives the feeling of a grand space. Glass double doors lead to a small terrace with a couple of comfy chairs in the sun. Get the fire going in the evening to cosy up the living room and perhaps end the day with a luxurious soak in the master bathroom’s huge Jacuzzi tub. 


Komorebi

Nestled in the city of Roseville, California, this modern home is great for friends and families. Well-behaved pets are welcome for an additional fee, and your host can provide a cot and safety equipment for little ones. You'll find a gym, shops, and Blue Oaks Park within walking distance. That said, we recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay here – it's less than an hour's drive to Sacramento, and a couple of hours into San Francisco for day trips.

Echo of the River

Tucked away in the serene coastal community of Pedro Point, this modern cabin offers the perfect escape to the shores of the Pacific Ocean. Located just a nine-minute walk from Pacifica State Beach and a six-minute stroll from Shelter Cove Beach – you'll be blown away by the bay's beauty, making it a popular spot for photographers. It's also a favourite amongst surfers, so whether you like to be part of the action or watch it all from a safe distance, Pacifica State Beach caters to all. There is a range of surf shops and some great local eateries on your doorstep too. For those who want to see more than just the coast, San Francisco is less than a twenty-five-minute drive away. When you're done exploring all that the San Francisco Peninsula has to offer, head home and rustle up a cioppino in the modern kitchen. We love the balcony with its views over the neighbourhood – perfect for a sundowner. Black Walnut Cove

Families looking for outdoor adventures and scenic views will enthuse over this beautiful home. The sun-filled rooms and open-plan living space welcomes families to relax and enjoy each other's company, while the interior considers guests of all ages. The house is a short walk from a private beach and community pool and close to local shops for essentials, and host Eric takes pleasure in helping his guests discover the hidden gems of Tahoe ensuring you don't miss out. 

The Circle Of Light

Welcoming up to twelve guests, Colours of the Lake is the perfect home for a large family gathering just outside of Donner Lake. Whether you decide to visit in the summer or the winter, this area has plenty to offer to make it magical all year long. The open-plan living area is the home’s main social hub, perfect for chit-chatting while someone prepares dinner, heated debates around the large dining table, or family games in front of the roaring fire. Then step outside and admire the wonderful views from the back deck. From here, you can also spot the sixteenth-hole of the Tahoe Donner Golf Course, which is surely worth a visit if you enjoy the game of golf. Spend your days swimming in any of the area’s magical lakes, enjoy exclusive skiing in colder months or just hang back at the home and relax with a great book and even better company. However you choose to spend your time here, you’ll be glad to soak your tired muscles in the outdoor hot tub at the end of a long day.
