This architecturally designed home, with a romantic view of the world-famous Lake Como, was built in the 40s and still welcomes families and large groups of friends for a tranquil Italian getaway. Though the interior is beautiful, especially with exposed Moltrasio stone, the garden is what caught our eye. You'll find seating for everything from alfresco meals to quiet moments with a book, and a private pool with a view. With the lake so close, there's paddle boat and canoe hire for those wanting to get better acquainted with the lake. But if relaxing is what you're after, the private sauna and hot tub are waiting.

A hot tub overlooking Lake Como and you’re own boat dock; this villa is not your average lakeside getaway. If you’re not using your own boat, the ferry jetty is a three-minute walk from the villa, ready to whisk you to the lakeside delights of Bellagio or Varenna for the day. Or, stick around in the peaceful village of Sala Comacina, with its lakeside lido and handful of local restaurants.

The villa’s outdoor space is, quite simply, stunning. A panoramic view of the azure lake, flanked by rich green mountains is on offer from every lawn lounger, parasol-shaded dining table and covered veranda. Perhaps the best spot to take in the vista is from the comfort of the bubbling hot tub. 

Picture-frame windows inside mean you don’t miss out on Lake Como views in the bedrooms either. Glass French doors and a wall of windows open the opulent living room out to the covered veranda, blending indoors with outdoors. An old stone fireplace can keep the place cosy in the cooler months and a marble-style floor keeps things cool underfoot. In raw light-wood, the kitchen feels Scandi-chic and there’s plenty of room in here to cook and dine comfortably. We particularly love the wooden beams still on display in the huge master bedroom.

This stunning lakeside apartment is an idyllic spot on the shores of Lake Como. It’s elegant and modern, with a fully equipped kitchen and a living room with large windows looking out to the lake. An internal courtyard leads to a private sauna and a wine cellar, and there’s even a shared infinity pool – what could be better than drinking in those majestic views while enjoying a dip? You’ll also have access to a dock for boat tours.

If you're looking for a home with a view, then they don't get much more awe-inspiring than this. Right on the edge of Lake Como, this sweet apartment offers sweeping vistas across the water and a wonderfully peaceful setting. 

The interior is modern yet welcoming, cloaked in soothing neutral shades. The windows usher in plenty of natural light, and we loved the charming wooden ceilings. However, the jewel in the crown of this home is the outdoor space. Simply wake up and open up the patio doors to step right onto the balcony – it's the perfect place to sip your morning coffee. There's also a terrace with sun loungers where you can admire the sweeping landscapes, and even access to your own tiny beach if you fancy a paddle. 

If you feel like getting out onto the water, then there are a few boat rental companies just a short stroll away. However, if you would prefer to stay on dry land, then there are a few restaurants where you can sip a glass of wine and admire the boats from afar. Plus, the town of Bellagio is just a fifteen-minute car ride away – wander through the cobbled streets, gelato in hand, before taking a stroll through Villa Serbelloni Park.

The views of Lake Como from this home are simply gorgeous – we could sit on the balcony here gazing out over the gently rippling water to the mountains for hours. You can enjoy the incredible vistas from the terrace too, where you can relax on the sun loungers or dine alfresco. Whip up some tortelli di zucca in the sleek, dove grey kitchen for dinner. On chilly evenings gather around the fire or get some rest in the stylish bedrooms with their ornate wallpaper. 

Situated in Argegno, there are a range of eateries within a five-minute walk. Further afield, the alpine city of Lecco, with its splendid Basilica di San Nicolò, is eleven minutes in the car. Or walk the trails of the stunning Monte Barro Regional Park, a sixteen-minute drive from this lovely home.

Just a short stroll from the edge of Lake Como, this home opens its doors to a traditional Italian escape. Set across three floors, the rooms are ideal for families and groups in search of character and simple charm. There are two living rooms and each of the bedrooms comes with an en-suite bathroom and beautiful views. Outside, the terrace makes it easy to enjoy social gatherings and you’ll find plenty to explore in the surroundings. Take a stroll through Lenno or adventure further afield towards Tremezzo and Argegno.

When we saw the Lake Como vistas from this gorgeous villa, we thought we were dreaming – they are sublime. Admire them from the hot tub and sun loungers in the beautiful lakeside garden or while cooking some local produce on the barbecue. Inside, it is no less impressive – the views can be enjoyed from here too from the floor-to-ceiling windows. With lots of features such as a spiral staircase, stone floors and interesting antiques – this home is perfect for entertaining your friends and family in style.

This villa has its own private berth, so you can charter a boat and explore Lake Como. Or, head to Sala Comacina, a five-minute stroll away, with its picturesque old town, quaint narrow streets and glorious views of Comacina, Lake Como's only island. Spiaggia di San Vito, a lakeside beach, is a twelve-minute saunter from here, if you want to dip your toes in the crystal-clear water.

Petite and pretty, you'll find this home right on the edge of Lake Como, near the centre of Tremezzo. It's ideal for couples or very small families who are looking for some peace and quiet to enjoy this idyllic corner of Italy. 

The kitchen is ready for you to whip up some delicious meals, or simply arrange some antipasti, depending on what you feel like. Mix an Aperol Spritz and head out to the patio to enjoy your apperitif in the fresh air with a view of the lake – your host will even provide comfortable deckchairs and tables. If you need to catch up on emails then there's a dedicated workspace, and at the end of the day you'll love curling up in the perfect pink bedroom. 

You can walk to the centre of Tremezzo and the famous Villa Carlotta in only eight minutes from here, and you're also close to Scalo di Villa Carlotta ferry landing, which can take you around the lake to several points of interest. Plus, the city centre of Como is around a forty-minute drive away – visit the cathedral and wander along the promenade before you hop on the funicular railway for an excellent view.

Escape to the shores of Lake Como with a stay in this peaceful retreat. You’ll be welcomed by stunning views, a serene garden and an infinity pool for refreshing dips. There’s also a terrace with a barbecue for alfresco dining and you’ll find plenty of space inside to stretch out and unwind. Your host can also help organise special extras like massage treatments, private chefs and yoga sessions. You will need a car to get around here, but it’s just a short drive to Menaggio and Tremezzo.

This lakeside villa in Argegno, a sleepy town near the Swiss border, is the stuff that dreams are made of. Stylish and perfectly located, it's the ideal spot for a group of friends or family who are ready to fall in love with the stunning Como landscapes. 

Step inside, and you'll find a serene space that will help you settle in within no time at all. The sage green sofas, sleek breakfast bar, and home office provide plenty of places to work or relax, depending on your plans for the day. Huge windows flood the rooms with natural light and frame the fantastic views of the lake. Slide open the patio doors and head out to the patio, where you can breathe in the fresh mountain air as you admire the stunning vistas across the water. There's even a Jacuzzi to soak in, and an alfresco dining area for long, lavish meals – and your host will provide a chilled bottle of Prosecco. 

If you want to take a boat trip, then the marina is just a five-minute walk away from your front door, and you'll also find an outdoor lakeside swimming pool where you can take a dip. Hikers can join one of the local trails for an invigorating hike through the incredible scenery, and when you get hungry you can take your pick from the traditional Italian restaurants back in Argegno.

This home is a great retreat for family and friends – we love the infinity pool and Jacuzzi with its incredible views of the lake and mountains. The vistas don’t end outside though – there’s a panoramic outlook from most of the rooms of this home. Special features include a cinema room, gym area and a pool table, and every bedroom has an en-suite. The location is fantastic too – situated on the Western coast of Lake Como, it has easy access to gems such as Varenna.

A private beach on the shores of Lake Como? If that's not the definition of relaxing, we don't know what it is. Consisting of two separate apartments, this lakefront home, just a fifteen-minute drive from Bellagio, is perfect for exploring the region. Each apartment has two bedrooms, a breezy living area, and spectacular views. You can enjoy the panoramas from the balconies or, better yet, pad down to the beach and stretch out at the water's edge. Four guests will sleep on double sofa beds in the living area, but that's a worthwhile compromise when the beach is on your doorstep.

The tight geometric lines of this home may seem incongruous against Lake Como’s lush natural landscape, but reserve judgment until you’ve come inside. As soon as you step into the living space, we’re sure you’ll agree that the stark decor and modernist architecture perfectly frames the view of the lake and the island of Comocina available from every window. Run by a local family, everything in this home is geared towards your enjoyment from the luxurious bedding to the fireplace which lights up dark evenings. Relax in the private infinity pool with the scent of jasmine and lavender drifting up from the garden overlooking what is, in our not-so-humble opinion, the best view in the whole region.

We defy anyone to look through this home's photos and not feel instantly at ease. It's something to do with the ample amounts of space, cleansing white walls and large arched windows that look out over rooftops and also flood the interior with sunshine.

The design is definitely sparse, although we think there are enough personal touches to ward off accusations of anonymity. The floral-style lampshade in the bedroom is eye-catching and we also like the vintage travel adverts hanging in frames on the wall.

However, don't be surprised if you don't actually spend all too much time in the apartment. The home's position in the Mezzegra region is simply gorgeous, helped by the fact that the banks of Lake Como can be reached in five minutes' walk. Villa del Balbianello takes forty-five minutes to reach on foot, while you catch a ferry to the town of Bellagio in just over an hour.

Welcome to this luxurious home in the hills above Sala Comacina. We love the 180-degree views of Lake Como from the terrace, infinity pool and hot tub. There’s an inner courtyard filled with fragrant jasmine and Italian herbs off the kitchen too. You can also take in the vistas from the floor-to-ceiling windows in the split-level open-plan living space and the bedrooms which all have en-suites. When you want to explore, Ossuccio with its pretty pastel houses is nearby. Stay here and you’re sure to create unforgettable memories.

The Melody of Como

Just a stone’s throw from Lake Como and within walking distance of the charming town of Lenno, this villa promises peace and quiet on Como’s western shore. You’ll have lake views to admire and plenty of outdoor space to soak them up – think a private pool, shaded terraces, balconies, and an outdoor lounge and dining area. Three of the bedrooms offer an extra single bed, which makes a great choice for families, though a group of close friends could make it work, too. And while the villa feels like its own retreat, we expect you’ll want to make the most of the lake, local trattorias and Spiaggia di Lenno, which are all within walking distance.

Bellagio Dream

With its feet right on the banks of Lake Como, this modern and fuss-free apartment is as close to the water you can get. Your mornings will begin on the balcony, with a cappuccino and flaky pastry, or on the shingle of your private beach to watch boats cut through the gentle waves. 

After soaking up the sunshine from a lounger, nip back inside to cool off with a glass of something refreshing in the fuss-free living space. Pick the comfiest spot on the sofa or pull up a chair at the dining table – the minimalist furnishings have been carefully positioned to ensure you won’t miss a second of the stunning vistas. 

If you feel like exploring, charming Bellagio is a twenty-three-minute drive away. Weave through the tangle of cobbled streets, dipping in and out of artisanal boutiques before stopping for an Aperol in waterfront bars to catch the sunset.

Perched on a promontory that juts out into Lake Como, this villa provides guests with plenty of opportunity to look out over stunning lakeside vistas, backgrounded by the mighty Alps. Below, the quaint village of Bellagio invitingly reveals its cobbled streets and elegant lakeside villas, completing the panoramic views.

The villa doesn’t just offer views, though. Its heated swimming pool allows you to see snowy mountain caps in perfect comfort, and inside you’ll be able to build up a sweat in your own private gym and Turkish sauna. 
In the evenings, once you’ve caught the sunset over Lake Como, you might want to make your way down into your wine cellar and enjoy the finest local wines, or head into Bellagio and sample its fantastic foods.

Although the villa offers tranquillity, you’re not far from the city either. Its location allows for short drives to cities like Milan, Bergamo, and Como, and you can also enjoy making the short trip across the border into Switzerland to visit Lugano.

The villa’s excellent location also invites you to enjoy hikes and boat trips around the lake, along with other outdoor activities such as tennis and golf.

Tri Lake Serenity

After being occupied by the same family for five generations, this home lay uninhabited for several decades before it was treated to a complete renovation. Today, the thought that this remarkable home lay unappreciated for so long makes us slightly sad.

The views alone are worth a stay here. From the two terraces, you get a sensational panorama of Lake Como, the mountains surrounding the waters and some of the local area's spectacular buildings, like Villa Balbianello. With a pair of loungers and an alfresco dining table, you can pass hours upon hours with this backdrop for company.

Back inside the home, some period features, like the exposed brickwork, have been tastefully retained, while many of the more modern additions are vintage in style, such as the copper bathtub in one of the bedrooms, the tiled flooring and the mighty wooden dining table. The kitchen is as contemporary as they come, however.

The local village of Mezzegra on your doorstep has restaurants, a bakery and a handful of historic churches to wander between. The banks of the lake can also be reached in ten minutes on foot, while Monte Crocione sits behind the property if you're up for a challenge.

You’ll find this sophisticated yet inviting home-from-home a ten-minute walk from the heart of Nesso. Behind the egg-yolk yellow and mint green exterior is a cool, calm and collected abode with a neutral colour scheme and pared-back furnishings. 

The living space calls for quiet moments with a novel while the bright kitchen encourages lively breakfasts with platters of sweet pastries and copious amounts of milky coffee. When it’s warm out, spill onto the large terrace and soak up the picture-perfect views of Lake Como. Savour the stillness before pulling on your walking shoes and exploring the neighbourhood. 

Should you start to feel peckish, focus your fork on Bellagio, a thirty-four-minute drive away. Find a smart waterside restaurant or pick up local produce from artisanal shops and take it back to your pad. Prepare a knockout feast in your streamlined kitchen and serve alfresco as the sun begins to set.

La Casa Gialla

Granted, this might not be the largest apartment in our Lake Como collection, but the views seen from the private balcony more than make up for that. It's worth noting that, at full occupancy, two guests will share a sofa bed in the lounge. However, the small playroom is an unexpected perk that would suit a small family. Set in the lakeside village of Mezzegra, you're just a short walk from the pebble beach, a bakery, a restaurant and shops. For any more bustle, including Lake Como (30 kilometres), we recommend hiring a car.


Duchy of Como

This villa overlooks the town of Bellagio and enjoys stunning mountain views. The kitchen and certain bathrooms might be a little dated, but the range of amenities makes this home great for families or couples. The wine cellar is well-stocked and the home gym is well-equipped, while the sauna and private pool offer fun and relaxation for all ages. We love this location not only for its beauty but for its practicality – you'll want a car for ease of getting around, but it's only a two-minute drive to the nearest restaurants and shops.

Chasing Dreams

If you’re looking for a home with a view, then how about this apartment, which has captivating Lake Como vistas from its small balcony? Inside, the open-plan living space sleeps two guests on a sofa bed at full capacity. We love the outlook from the dining table here, too – at this home, you can create wonderful memories. Set in the town of Menaggio with its lakeside promenade, you’ll have plenty to occupy your time or go for a scenic hike in the nearby mountains. With its fantastic location, this apartment is the perfect retreat.

Lakeside Chic

Nestled on the shores of Lake Como, a mere ten-minute drive from Bellagio, this four-storey villa boasts panoramic water views and a private pool. The fourth floor isn’t accessible, but there’s still plenty of space for up to ten guests to spread out across the remaining three floors – although it’s worth noting that at full occupancy, two people will draw the short straw and sleep on the sofa bed on the second floor. Still, with the tranquillity of the garden and private access to the lake, you’re highly likely to spend most of your time in the outdoor space, soaking up the sun, dining alfresco and enjoying the lake vistas.

This beautiful and stately home places you on the shore of the natural beauty that is Lake Como, so you can look out at the waters as you sunbathe poolside while the kids play on the lawn. Spread out over three floors with the main entrance on the top level, this home has more than enough room for everyone to stretch their legs. Float in the cool waters of the private pool, or dine alfresco in the fairytale ambience of the outdoor lanterns and ivy-entwined gazebo in the garden and live your perfect Italian summer (or spring, autumn, or winter). If you're looking to get some work done remotely during your stay, you're in luck each bedroom has its own dedicated desk, perfect for staying professional or studious should you need to. And with large windows to let natural light in during the day, and small balconies to step out on and look over the lake in the morning or evening, you can appreciate the fresh air and sounds of the water even indoors.

If you're looking to immerse yourself in local life and get a different perspective, head down to the nearby village of Bellagio, known locally for traditional gelato, mouth-watering restaurants and wonderful shopping opportunities, not to mention museums and rich history. In the evening, look out as the moonlight glitters off the surface of the lake as you enjoy a drink on one of the balconies.

You can enjoy the vistas from the garden and several balconies, as well as from most rooms inside. One of the interior highlights here is the second-floor bathroom with its freestanding tub offering yet more panoramas over the lake. There’s a gym here too ensuring you maintain your fitness regime while away (if you want). This villa is situated in Bellagio, with its historic gardens of Villa Melzi and Villa Serbelloni. You can also ask your host to organise the hire of a classic car or a chartered boat to explore the area more.

There was once a medieval watchtower on the spot that now holds Miraggio, and when you see the panorama, it becomes clear why. Lots of places in Italy have nice views, but these are beyond anything we’ve seen before. It’s completely private, a secluded hillside where you can retreat from the bustle of the world and feel like there’s nothing except you and the lake. This isolation might be a problem, were there not so much to do in the home. Not only the pool, but billiards, a gym, a garden, even a grand piano if you’re feeling up to playing it. And if, somehow, these views weren’t enough, there’s a cable car within walking distance that will give you some even more dramatic vistas.
